Dicey
Anybody else think the jump in points from the semi to final is too great compared with the other previous 5 heats ? Why not continue with 3,2 1 pts right through the programme ? So it would liook like this 1.Trick 21 pts 2. Crumpy 15 pts 3. Adams 13 pts 4.Hancock 11pts 5. Lindback 10pts 6.NPedersen 10 ptd

AndyM
That makes more sense than awarding arbitrary GP points based on position, but further stretches the gulf between the elite and the rest. I'd really like the GP to be an event where anybody is in with a realistic chance of winning a single event and the whole tournament. At the moment, it's like the FA Cup; while some lower league opposition occasionally pull off a giant-killing act, you know that 9 times out of 10 it will be the big boys who reach the final stages. Subedei
So Lindback reaches the final and yet finishes 7th? That hardly seems very fair on the young fellow. If you swap Adams and Rickardsson around in the final - Adams winning the final - Rickardsson would have scored 20 and Adams 14. Adams would have won the final and yet finished 3rd. I'm afraid that system doesn't work as far as I'm concerned. But I agree there are flaws in the system currently. Surely you should get something for making the semi-finals? Mark Evans
I am missing something here. How does the points system work.
Subedei
During the main meeting - first 20 heats - per normal. No points awarded for the semi-finals and then points awarded in the final per last season - 25 for the win, etc. So, the scores for the 1st grand prix (taken from the Live Updates site) were as follows: 25 = TONY RICKARDSSON 20 = Leigh Adams 18 = Jason Crump 16 = Antonio Lindback 11 = Greg Hancock 10 = Jaroslaw Hampel 10 = Nicki Pedersen 8 = Andreas Jonsson Hancock, Hampel, Pedersen and Jonsson got not one single thing for making the semi-finals. Hampel went into the semi-final with 10 and came out of it with 10, in spite of finishing 3rd in the semi-final. buzzybee
i thought it was good. it is abit dodgy how riders dont get anything fro reaching the semi`s, but maybe it will make them work harder. and we wont just have riders think, its alright i`ll just stay in this position because i get this amount of points. if they want to get more points after the main event they`ve got to reach the final. i think it will mean that we`ll have some exciting racing, far better than what we had with the old format........alot depending on the track too....
