Grand Prix Fantasy League

Recommended Posts

If someone is going to run a fantasy league then I'd like to join. However if no one does then I thought I might run one. This got to thinking what the best format would be. I wondered about people picking one rider from each of five groups:

1. Crump, Rickardsson and Adams

2. Hancock, N.Pedersen and Gollob

3. Jonsson, Andersen and Nicholls

4. Hampel, B.Pedersen and Richardson

5. Lindback, Sullivan, Chrzanowski (and maybe the wildcard)

or having three groups:

1. Crump, Rickardsson, Adams, Hancock and N.Pedersen

2. Gollob, Jonsson, Andersen, Nicholls and B.Pedersen

3. Hampel, Richardson, Lindback, Sullivan and Chrzanowski (maybe plus wildcard)

The third alternative would be to rank the riders:

1.Crump

2. Rickardsson

3. Adams

4. Hancock

5. N.Pedersen

6. Gollob

7. Jonsson

8. Andersen

9. Nicholls

10. B.Pedersen

11. Hampel

12. Richardson

13. Sullivan

14. Lindback

15. Chrzanowski

and have four riders with a munimum number of points (30 for instance).

I think picks should be made for each GP to make it interactive and with all options we maybe should have a limit on the number of times riders can be picked. If people don't re-submit their picks then I guess we could carry teams over until they hit the limit for riders (to cover for accidentally forgetting to e-mail a new set of riders).

What other alternatives are there? and what is likely to work best?

Silver Cheetah said "Also why have you ranked Adams above hancock twice?!"

For consistency ;) It wouldn't look right if he was above in one and below in the other. Seriously, I've not seen odds but I suspect Adams is third favourite and Hancock is 4th or even 5th.

If we adopt prices can someone suggest values for them all?

Scuuny,

can i suggest you have four groups of four riders, one rider from each group and the riders scores are added for each round,

the riders chosen are kept all season, in the event of injury then points scored by the replacement will count

I've sorted a GP game out for us, I don't have time to go into it now, but if people were happy with last year's (which I can't even remember!?) then it's cool to go with that sort of thing again.

Mine's less "Fantasy League", more a simple gambling game involving nerve and cunning! :P

It worked well during winter testing ;)

{edit}

Actually...assuming the "Fantasy League" requires just one pre-GP-season selection, we could run both games easily enough. Mine needs a new selection for each GP and I spent hours and hours settin' it up on a spreadsheet :D , so I'd be gutted if we didn't play it ;)

You'll do for me Steve. I can do without the extra work involved in running the league but I'd like to shout for riders other than the two Brits too.

Whilst I don't mind playing a 'one selection before 1st GP' type game I do prefer the idea of new selections before each GP too. It gives people whose initial selection didn't do well the chance of winning individual GPs and even rescuing their season.

Cheers Steve! I look forward to it.
