Hazzman
Could some one please provide me with a list of Leicester's honours.
Richspeedway
Hazzman just looking in my book and I can't see any honours that Leicester had mate, don't quote me on it though.
Hazzman
Is this a Coventry joke or the truth? We might not have won any league titles but surely we won a Cup of some sort. I know we had a few riders who appeared on the podium during the World Finals. And I heard we had one of the best tracks in the land. Richspeedway
Haha nah. I just looked in the book called 'homes of british speedway' and it does have Leicester Lions and the years they were in operation but it does not have a roll of honours on there so not 100% sure if they did. They were promoted from Division three to two in 1950 but does not say they were champions, they stayed there till they finished in 1956. Then in 1960's just did handful of meetings. salty
According to the Speedway Yearbook 1982, under honours it reads... BL runners-up 1971 Second division runners-up 1951 Ko Cup finalists 1975 Under a seperate section it lists them as winners of the Midland Cup in 1951,1972 and 1974. Grave
In 1969, Leicester were the first team to go through an entire season without making a change with all seven riders being everpresent in each of the 36 British League matches and two knock out cup matches. Fact courtesy of The Complete History of the British League. 1980 BLRC Champion - Les Collins
Liontamer
I think I'm right in saying we were the first team to track an American in the British League (the late DeWayne Keeter), & also the first team to have team leathers (sponsored by TSB). Clutching at straws maybe but we've got to try & fill this thread up with something to keep Mr Howling Gorgon at bay.

Gemini
We had the first - and I think the only - rider to shove the referee in the bath. I bet there are a few riders who would love to do that, but nowadays I suppose they would end up in court.

I'll tell you how many....err....two. (Actually we've had three. In the 50's there was one on the same road that I now live on, so stick that in yer pipe).
