norbold
Does anyone have either a filled in programme or know the results of the first meetings at Belle Vue for either the meeting at Kirkmanshulme Lane on 28/7/1928 or Hyde Road on 23/3/1929? I would be very grateful for information on these two meetings. Thank you.
Gemini
Keith may be able to help as he seems to be collecting Belle Vue home & away programmes from 1928 on. From another thread - I am trying to collect every Belle Vue programme home and away from 1928-present and although I am doing quite well with the pre-war programmes (about 260 so far) ...... If he doesn't see this, I've got his email address if you would like to contact him?

Sotonian
According to speedwaywapshop.co.uk, Ian Somerville from Linlithgow has both programmes. He's usually selling on ebay as 'Skidmarks' and can be contacted through that medium.

norbold
Thanks Addy. I think the chances of me making it to Belle Vue on Monday are pretty slim. I can't even get out of the end of my road at the moment what with all the snow. Perhaps you could ask him for me, Addy????
Gemini
I can't even get out of the end of my road at the moment what with all the snow. I hope when you can that you watch out for any subsidence as I heard a rumour there was a bloody great big hole dug in that road a couple of years ago. ... norbold
Funnily enough someone has just put a sign up over where the hole used to be saying "Moss Brothers - Property Developers". I think they must be turning the hole in to a tourist attraction. You know, cafe, souvenir shop, that sort of thing. Yes, we used to have smugglers in Clacton. You can read all about them in a splendid book called Clacon Past available Here Edited March 5, 2005 by norbold
