Guest Sir Lunchalot
I thought the guest commentator was superb but then again I am biased It was actually a good days racing with one highlight in the solos being Cory Gathercole gating from out wide in his second ride to get around Mark Jones and hold him off all race to take a win. It's only a bit of inconsistency that is holding Cory back as he can be brilliant at times. Mark Jones beat brother Ashley for the championship with Ashley suffering from a costly "oops, lost it, wobble left, no I haven't, wobble right, I've lost it again, wobble left, I've caught it lets go again" moment coming off the pit corner which pushed him back from 1st to 3rd in one heat. By all reports the track was rather patchy which was what caught Ashley out In the over 30's Mick Evans had won just about every race he had been in all year but on the day it mattered he had an absolute shocker. He got left on the line in his first heat and despite a lengthy stare at the referees box he received no joy from that avenue and pushed his bike off the track. Later on he had a DNF and Mick would be voting to change the championship to progressive scoring during the year rather than just the one meeting if it was put to the vote. Only worrying moment was when Damian Edgar (passengering in the classic sidecars for the first time since 1978 !!) came off on his first outing when the driver backed off after crossing the finish line, but Damian kept going, shot into the air, and landed heavily on the track. He didn't move for a couple of minutes but it turned out he had only knocked himself out and apparently was quite lucid and coherent and keen to get back on again !! Thankfully wiser heads prevailed and he sat the rest of the meeting out. In all seriousness I have a new respect for commentators. Listening while leaning against the fence and watching it sounds easy but saying things on the spur of the moment and trying to keep it relevant without stating the obvious is a tricky mix to get right. Roll on Myrtleford next week

Guest Sir Lunchalot
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> lunchy you have stunned me. i did not know you had talent to do that mate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven't !!! Broadford is very much a club day and I was definitely the minor partner with the regular announcer / commentator doing most of it. It's purely to help spread the load a little and people don't need to worry, I'm not thinking of making a career out of it so the 150 people or so who turn up at Broadford are the only ones ever likely to be "eardum assaulted" by yours truly.
