NoFear
BSI has signed a 3-year contract with Eskilstuna... / Ola
Trees
So you're saying that BSI have paid Eskilstuna a fee for using their track for 3 years? Wonder if the Eskilstuna bosses have said they'd like a percentage from the tv revenue from that particular GP?

The original posting said "BSI has signed a 3-year contract with Eskilstuna..." - nowhere does it say anything about money being paid by BSI to use the Eskilstuna track. I somehow doubt the details of the contract are likely to be made public, but presumably Eskilstuna are happy with the contract negotiated as they have signed it. iris123
Anyone know the capacity of both stadiums? Always fancied a trip to Eskilstuna because of the link with the Jansson brothers and S.Salomonsson.
ha en bra födelsedag
Having only been to Rospiggarna i can't really talk for Eskiltuna or Mililla, but the Swedish tracks seem brilliant, and the set up at the stadiums are really good to. Brilliant track shops and excellent fans!

Always fancied a trip to Eskilstuna because of the link with the Jansson brothers and S.Salomonsson. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Capacity of the arena in Eskilstuna would be around 12-15.000. The son of Bo Jansson, Jimmy, is riding for the Smederna Div.1 team The arena is only 3 years old and the most "up to date" arena in Sweden. Trees, I did not say anything about money...just that BSI and Eskilstuna has agreed on a 3 year contract. / Ola
iris123
Thanks for the info, both. As for the track shops,i have been trying to get some stuff from Smederna & Masarna, but had no luck so far
Trees
Trees, I did not say anything about money...just that BSI and Eskilstuna has agreed on a 3 year contract. I know you didn't, that's why I asked. I am interested to know if Eskilstuna are paying BSI for the privilege or the other way round. Doesn't it interest you? Good twisting of words for your own purposes ! The original posting said "BSI has signed a 3-year contract with Eskilstuna..." - nowhere does it say anything about money being paid by BSI to use the Eskilstuna track. I know it didn't Rico. I certainly didn't "twist" the wording for my own purposes I was asking a simple question re the contract. Like you say the details will probably not be available to the general public, I'm interested all the same though. I guess the swedes are prudent enough to benefit from the deal. f-s-p
Capacity of the arena in Eskilstuna would be around 12-15.000./ Ola Seen the stadium, very nice. Problem is the road leading there, cant see 5000 cars getting in / out of there saturday night . Now is that capacity with the extra stands probably fitted for the gp, or the capacity now? (Would be..?) No finnish calendar this year Ola, didn't have the time to get anyone to pay for it with school and work taking their toll on me... I'll get back on it next year Edited November 24, 2004 by f-s-p
gooner_girl4eva
I've never been to Sweden, although plan too in the next few years so don't really know what their tracks/stadiums are like - other than those I've seen in the GP's. I'm presuming that both these stadiums aren't exactly like Gothenburg?? Correct me if I'm wrong but if these stadiums are just where normal league racing takes place, isn't it a bit of a come down after racing in one of the national stadiums?! I know there was all the problems at Gothenburg when the meeting got cancelled but I'm still surprised when BSI ar trying to move the sport forward - that they are moving away from the larger stadiums. I'm sure both the Swedish venues will produce excellent racing and I hear one of the venues gets the largest crowd attendance in the Swedish League but I'm still surprised. Perhaps somebody can tell me a bit mroe about the venues. Maybe BSI are saving all their big bucks to bag Barcelona as a GP Roll on when they announce the full calender
Shalewhale
Maybe BSI are having a reality check. Big stadia cost big money and look crap on TV when they're only 33% full, whereas smaller stadia which cost less to hire look better when they have a capacity crowd. Also the racing will be vastly better than anything offered by temporary tracks.

And agree about the racing 100%

However, the new track at Grondal is on the outskirts of the town, and a taxi or bus will be required to get to the track...I would imagine BSI & Smederna will have to talk to Eskilstuna council to lay on a special bus service for the GP...Should not be a problem though, as there is already a bus service in place for Smederna's league matches (details here - http://www.smederna.nu/smedbuss.asp) Edited November 24, 2004 by jeffster
