Guest Tinkerbell
What are your thoughts on this year's SPG Series? Did you think that the Series would be as thrilling as it was? Who was the surprise package etc.? Tinkers
Peter S.
Having 25% of the riders and only winning 22,2% of the GP's was a bit disapointing for us Danes. But hey!, how did the brits do ? See you Peter
Hazzman
This years SGP series started brilliant and was very exciting. With the forst five round all having talking points and good tracks. That was Speedway at its most sellable on SKY. After the British Grand Prix and the World Cup, Speedway started to receive a bit more press= equalling more potnetial fans. However the second half of the season was a massive letdown with Krsko being the only track to live up the billing. So this possibly dented possible speedway fans. On a lighter note, the Brits werent brilliant in this years and Lee Richardson establish himself as the best international rider. However suprise of the year must be Jaroslaw Hampel after a woeful year at Ipswich, he managed for a very good GP season despite the lack of experience. The leading light in my eyes was Andreas Jonsson who provides pure entertainment and I think in five years he will be world champ. Massive let-downs have to be Mark Loram, Ryan Sullivan and Mikael Max P.S. Get Ole Olsen out of the Gp's, as his pro-dane tensions are obivious. sjw ministerofport
I dont think it was really any better than before except for the standard of presentation, however the track preperation for the second part of the series seemed below its best. Cardiff for me was the best yet and i have been to all of them so far. Dave Norris for me was a suprise, i hope that he will be able to get a full time place in 2006. Hans Anderssen has to the most improved over all. I just hope 2005 with the new format gets even better and that the track preperation does not let the series down in the future. TwoMinuteWarning
Yes, it was the tracks that spoilt it for me. And it's not just the temporary tracks. Anyone who can bugger up the Bydgoszcz track wants shooting!
HenryW
Anyone who can bugger up the Bydgoszcz track wants shooting! It would be interesting to know who made the call on how the track should be prepared in the recent GPs in Bydgoszcz. I suspect that Mr Gollob will be where it comes from rather than the more often blamed Mr Olsen.
Guest BilaHora
All The 2004 Grand Prix season was splendid up until the mid-season break. After the break it was a bit of a disappointment, although the Krsko round was reasonable and the Bydgoszcz round still looked to be a memorable occasion, largely because of the passion of the Polish supporters. I think that perhaps Mr Crump went into the mid-season break with too much of a lead - it was clear after the first four grands prix that Crump would take some beating and so it proved. The best two rounds were the successive Czech and British grands prix where the racing was excellent. This is all the more remarkable considering the appalling weather conditions for the Czech Grand Prix. The biggest controversy for me was Jason Crump's unacceptable behaviour during the Gothenburg round where he kicked out at Nicki Pedersen in the run to the first corner. I think much more would have been said about this had the other rider not been young master Pedersen. It was a disgraceful incident that could have been very serious indeed and it was all the more concerning to see the Sky pundits laughing it off, especially when you consider their reaction to Pedersen's actions in the Czech Grand Prix ("...You just don't do that!" said a certain Mr Ermolenko, whose reaction to Crump's kick was "...whose pushing who baby".) It was no laughing matter and serious consequences should have followed for young Mr Crump. That said Jason Crump was a fully deserving world champion. Guest BilaHora
Mr HenryW I agree. I think that Tomasz Gollob probably wanted a "slicker" track because on the "grippy" Krsko track he did not seem to have the engine power required. Mr Gollob was passed several times at Krsko and looked very much down on power. He possibly wanted a "slick" track so he could take a chance on his "trapping" ability and track knowledge to see him through. Trees
If it weren't for wanting to see how Crumpy, Adams and the brits were progressing throughout the series I probably wouldn't have bothered to watch the series live. With the rounds every two weeks it was a matter of, oh there's another GP on tv this Saturday. They have become much too run of the mill, there's too many of them to make them special to watch anymore. Like I say if it wasn't for following my fav riders on the road to becoming World Champion they wouldn't have held my interest at all. andy moore
Not as good as the year before as rikardsson was out of form a little and crump was so consistent, hans andersen done well and also hampel, what i would like to see is 5 new faces come in each year maybe from the british championship usa austrialia european u 21 etc,why should our guys get in each year through the back door-i would rather see action than brits. Silver Bee
Best plan yet Andy. As long as the British final doesn't have a stupid final. How can you score a 15 point maximum and then loose the meeting? Would also give the British final more meaning.
Silver Bee
I think the Nicki incident was ridiculous (as you can see from the e-mail adress...) but you could almost blame that on the ridiculous explusion warlier for him after the incident with Bo Brhel. I think the crump incident was worse to be honest with you. And, I think Jason Crump jumping from his bike in Denmark was also as bad. Nicki never touched him (and if he did certainly not enough to get him off) just taking advantage of Nicki's bad rep.
