AX Racing Team
People will be pleased to hear that Nigel Sadler from South Australia won Gillmans open night speedway meeting. Says he was just testing an engine for Kevin Doolan and has no equipment or intentions of racing in Uk or more except the odd Gillman meeting. His pacemaker and diffibrulator wouldnt suit full time racing 2nd Matt Jones VIC apparently is Mark Jones now 3rd Ashley Jones NSW 4th Robert Ksiezak SA Robert crashed in final, says he's ok just track was a bit too rutty in final after couple days of rain in Adelaide. The riders were lifting when they hit the ruts. He's looking forward to getting to the UK next year having signed a contract with Edinburgh. AX Racing Team
For those of you who have been following Karlis Ezergailis' progress he raced in this meeting at Gillman. He would rather not talk about it and says he had a'nightmare'. Track was rutty and he threw a chain more than once by sounds of it.Other bike probs too. He did win a race. After a 8hour drive up from his home in Victoria and leaving straight after meeting and getting home at 5am the next day he was pretty disapointed. Wont let the cat out of the bag on this one but I wouldnt believe all that you read about newport signings Edited November 6, 2004 by AX Racing Team

AX Racing Team
This was said to me and was posted on another forum. I was told by Robert Ksiezak that it was Matt Jones who was 2nd. But now been told it was Mark Jones. I did wonder how Matt was racing as he told me he was off to the UK as he had to attend a Jawa confernce in Czech this week or next. So apologies to Mark Jones if it was him that was indeed 2nd According to Sadler he doesnt have any plans to return to Uk just yet or race in the Australian titles The 2005 season kicked off at Gillman on Saturday night with solos, sidecars and classic tq’s. 16 riders nominated however 3 withdrew prior to the meeting and 1 during the meeting reducing the field to 12 riders. While not the best track seen at Gillman with grooves appearing in the turns causing some riders to lift there were no major incidents on the night with some major passes creating excitement. The track held up reasonably well considering the amount of rain in the 3 days previously. If not for the work put into the track during the off season the rain could possible have done more damage. Unfortunately there was not a large crowd but again the rain and cold weather in the lead up to the opening night would have been a big factor. Highlights of the night were the domination of the solo ranks by Nigel Sadler. This was apparently a one-off ride for Nigel who was testing a new GM engine for Kevin Doolan. Contrary to other reports Nigel still does not have any plans to return to the UK and does not think he will competing on a regular basis at Gillman during this season. It was good to see young Arlo Bugeja back in the saddle and putting in a creditable performance. Arlo has been unable to compete until the last meeting of the winter season after having the rod removed from his femur. Arlo had to have the rod inserted after he broke his femur in a seemingly gentle fall last season. The Jones boys travelled over from the NSW/Vic border for the meeting as well with both Ashley and Mark putting in sterling performances. Both boys looked to have changed to GM’s this season. Good to see Scott Blackwell back in the ranks this year. Scott is a UK conference league rider who now calls Australia home. Other riders competing on the night were Ford Keane, Tyron Proctor (Vic), Robert Ksiezak (who if reports are correct will be off to the UK next season - a promising signing), Aaron Summers, Ashley Watson, Harley Liersch and Karlis Ezergalis (Vic-recently returned from riding in the UK). Final placings were – Sadler, Jones (Mark), Jones (Ashley-after a couple of very good saves when the bike lifted in the turns) and Ksiezak. In the sidecars Mick Headland looked to have the measure all night until the final when Mark Plaistead put in his best performance of the night. Mick Headland took second place with ‘the prince of port’ Ronnie Parker taking third. The next meeting at Gillman is November 20th – solos and sidecars Major events coming up at Gillman include the SA Solo Championships – 18/12/04 And Round 3 of the Aust. Solo Championships – 5/1/05 (Wednesday night) Edited November 8, 2004 by AX Racing Team
