SpeedieGonzalez
Who do you all reckon the 'other 5' Grand Prix riders will be next season? I think it'll be the ones who finished 9th-12th (Hans, Bjarne, Lee & Scott (Hopefully) ) with one more place up for grabs, but I don't know who'll get it. coma
According to "sources" it's numbers 9-13 That means Lee and Scottie in but Mark Loram out. Also puts Bjarne, Hans and Ryan Sullivan in.

SpeedieGonzalez
Yeah I was just about to say that too. Who will get the GP wild card Loram or Norris? not an easy decision. I couldn't pick between the 2.
2ndbendbeerhut
taken from speedwayworld.tv........ The FIM Speedway Grand Prix Commission has today nominated the following riders for the 2005 FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP). Ryan Sullivan Australia Hans Andersen Denmark Bjarne Pedersen Denmark Lee Richardson Great Britain Scott Nicholls Great Britain Commenting on the announcement, John Postlethwaite, Chief Executive, BSI, said: “The five permanent riders picked themselves. Both Hans Andersen and Bjarne Pedersen won GP’s this year and Lee Richardson has also been on the podium. Scott Nicholls had a torrid year of injuries yet still managed to finish twelfth. Ryan Sullivan did not find his form that saw him finish inside the top ten last year and third in 2002. This is why we have the permanent wild cards so that riders like Sullivan have a second chance to make their mark on the championship. “All of these riders have also shown their commitment, drive and determination to be part of the world championship.” FIM Race Director Ole Olsen added: “Congratulations to the riders who have made the 2005 Series. All 15 riders for the 2005 season are capable of winning a Grand Prix or the world championship. With this line-up we will see hugely exciting racing next year.” The provisional calendar has also been announced today and confirmation of the provisional dates and venues is expected before the end of November. Shalewhale
Oh well, what a cop out by BSI. Thast not a line up with 15 or 16 riders capable of winning a GP.
London Witch
No arguments from me over the final 5. They picked themselves really. Who would you have put in Shaley? Havvy!? Magosi ? Piszcz?
Phil
Oh well, what a cop out by BSI. Thast not a line up with 15 or 16 riders capable of winning a GP. What's you suggestion? They have after all gone with the finishing numbers 9 to 13 from this year. A fair and good choice to me.

Only Chrzanowski looks a real no hoper for a place in the semi's in this lot
Shalewhale
Who would you have put in Shaley? Well, not Rico, Bananana or Sulli for starters. Its hard to say really. I think that for a WORLD championship, it has a distinct lack of nations represented. And I know that i said in my first post that there isn't a field full of GP winners, but surely it would be better to see some other nations permanently represented, rather than just at their home GP by one rider (ie Czech Rep, Slovenia, Norway - assuming they all have a GP next year). Only 6 countries are represented, when they had the chance to make it 9. Only Chrzanowski looks a real no hoper for a place in the semi's in this Well the fact that there's less riders to start with makes it easier to get to the semi finals. And lets be honest, getting to the Semi is one thing, making the final is another. Edited October 22, 2004 by Shalewhale
gooner_girl4eva
I'm really happy with that line-up I was very concerned Ryan wouldnt get a place but he will be back and fighting next year so really chuffed Rico, Nicholls and Hans were always dead certs and Bjarne has rode great this year so they are definitely the 5 I would have picked. Thank you BSI, great decision made on riders who are capable of winning GP's and not riders just being picked so fans from that country will turn up eg. Lukas Dryml etc When will the GP dates and venues be confirmed? Edited October 22, 2004 by gooner_girl4eva
Steve Shovlar
Absolutely the correct 5. I thought they might go and do something stupid by putting in Holta, but common sense prevailed in the end.
Mick Dundee
I think Holta is unlucky not to be in it, but perhaps the GP's loss may be the Elite League's gain!
tomhaines
Excellant choices. Glad they have gone on merit rather than political choices (1 Czech, 1 Norweigen... that kind of thing) Bring on SGP 2005
Shalewhale
Pfuff Looks more like they couldn't be bothered to choose anyone else.
tomhaines
Under the line-up in BSI's press release it says there will be two track reserves for each GP. These will be local former gp riders or just local riders. So there will be 3 extra brits lining up at Cardiff. A Wildcard + 2 Reserves. Still they need to decide who will take the wildcard slot tho lol. How bouts some kind of race-off between 3/4 riders a week or so in advance? The top 4 Averaged Brits behind Rico and Nicholls. To decide who gets the spot.

They were left with the option of fitting someone else in if they felt it was needed. (Maybe someone from a country not already represented)
coma
Come on Shaley, make up your mind. First you say they need more riders who can win a GP, then you want some no hopers put in so everyone is represented. Which is it? You want riders that can win but you don't want Bananananana or Sulli who have both won GP's (wouldn't disagree with Rico but then thats just because I'm not keen on him and would prefer Loram but when it comes down to it he deserves that place) Edited October 22, 2004 by coma
coma
Only Chrzanowski looks a real no hoper for a place in the semi's in this lot <{POST_SNAPBACK}> and you've seen him ride how many times? I'll have a small wager with you that he reaches the semis atleast once!

How do you know they would be no hopers anyhow. And don't F"$$$*&( call be Shaley. Only Steve Turner is allowed to do that.
