Ken

Do you know who filmed at Rye House in the late 80's and early 90's before they closed and do you reckon there is any chance of getting some copies of some matches?

I don't no, and the Mildenhall/Rye House footage is 1979 not 89, most of the late 80 early 90's was KM video (paul bonner) but he destroyed the masters after a fall out with someone at the time, I still see Paul, but I know he hasn't got them anymore, I do have some

Can Ellesmere Port beat Italy?, rare footage from Thornton Road, but has anyone got the race results and team details? also Canterbury v Italy ? 1979 or 1980. Plus details from the Birmingham indoor meeting, same time needed.

Thanks

Ken, Italy toured the UK in 1980 and 1981 - not 1979. They rode at Canterbury on both tours. They didn't ride at Ellesmere Port on either tour! Schedule was -

1980 - Canterbury, Mildenhall, Crayford (rained off), Long Eaton, Oxford.

1981 - Canterbury, Wolverhampton, Exeter, Milton Keynes, Oxford.

The Birmingham Indoor at the NEC was 1980 (Jan 17,18,19). But they also held meetings in 1984.

I can probably give you heat details on any of these meetings - let me know which ones you want.

Cheers

They I was last night speedway on the box (my box) Crayford v Rye House, what a match and good old mudlarky did his bit!, also saw Crayford win the 4's at Peterborough, great interview with Les Rumsey on that. anyway for those interested, I have made a copy on dvd, with other Rye House stuff too from the 80's. Copies can be sent out but donations start at £8 and cheques must be made out to Matt Read.

If we can help him, we will.!

Just received my copy of 'Days gone by vol 8. Thanks Ken. What memories. The footage from Norwich of GB V. Australasia, Norwich v. New Cross, Belle Vue, Russia etc. Ove is going to love it, I'm sure.

Of course for me to see Peter Craven walking about in the pits talking to other riders etc was lovely. (brought a lump to my throat, I can tell you..)

Sorry, that I somehow dropped a bit of my cine footage of the Olympic into the Belle Vue v. Wimbledon bit. . Good to see that again though: Ronnie v. Ivan.

Brilliant. Well recommended.

There are so far 4 x 1 hour tapes or dvd's cost is £14 each. available from  the adress in Backtrack or if you haven't got Backtrack, (shame on you it's a superb publication) Ken Burnett 23 Eastbourne Road, WESTHAM, Pevensey, East Sussex BN24 5NE.

The posting immediately above this one refered to your add in Backtrack about Vols 1-4 to being available on one tape.

Do we assume fom this reply that this option no longer applies?

Ta for that info.

Just as a matter of interest, is it possible to obtain footage from the BBC who must have tons of archived speedway.

I know a lot of 70's World Of Sport footage cropped up a few years ago on the Aces of Yesteryear series.

Is it question of money, copyright, or will the BBC not release any material full stop?

The BBC will tell you they haven't kept it, but they do in fact have it, I have a few (very few) old Will Internationales but poor quality to these days. Would myself love to see King Cinder once more!.

Funny really was talking to Paul Bonner from the old KM video's on Saturday, he was saying that someone told him, the Days Gone By series had his footage from KM, but I am pleased to say they DON'T, copyright is a very touchy subject and it's not worth it, Days Gone By have nothing but pure old cine film from the lofts of fans around the country, most never ever even seen before other than by the owners.

What happened to KM videos are they no more? Can there back catalogue still be purchased or do they no longer hold the originals? i would imagine they have some really good stuff from early 80's

Paul said he dumped all the odd matches and only kept World finals, but I doubt he'd release them for a while. probably on e-bay where he can make loads of dosh - not that he needs it!

There are still a few around, but amazing really how quality has changed compared with todays productions.
