HOTSHOT
What a great read! Couldn't put it down after starting on the Boxing Day. Having been a speedway fan for only 4 years now, it has certainly helped fill in a few blanks regarding the sports history and legendary riders. As any good book should, it does raise many points of discussion. Tell me people, did J Cook throw that Cup Final? Do you agree that T Davey was better than J Louis, or in fact could have been one of the best ever? Â Even when Berry is, so called, putting the boot in on people you can tell he is holding his tongue (or pen in this case) and does want to say that little bit more!! Could have been more forthright but there is such a thing as libel, as Mr. Berry does point out. Â Highly recommended
arnieg
Tell me people, did J Cook throw that Cup Final? Do you agree that T Davey was better than J Louis, or in fact could have been one of the best ever?  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was standing on the fourth bend right where it happened. Cook and Doncaster needed a 5-1 in the final heat of the second leg to win the cup 78-77 on aggregate. For 3/4 quarters of a lap they had it. Then coming out of the fourth bend Cook (on the inside) appeared to nudge Donkey pushing him towards the fence and letting the Oxford pairing thru for the minor places.  Was it deliberate or a racing accident? - hard to judge .  And not withstanding this Cook was the most entrtaining rider I've ever seen
SCB
A superb book. If you're an Ipswich fan of the era you will love it, if you're a speedway fan of the era you'll love it, of if like me your a speedway fan now (and not even born in that era) you'll love it. Some of the insights into running a speedway team, managing and about a few of the old riders (and promoters) are simply great.
Joanne
What a brilliant book. I'm a bit of a slow reader but I'm half way through it already. I can't normally read when on nights as my eyes get too heavy but I just couldn't put the book down. Wouldn't be surprised if others are tempted to write a book like this. SCB
Wouldn't be surprised if others are tempted to write a book like this. Oooh, I hope they are, this is my kind of book, brutally honest and only been made to cut bits out for legal reasons. Â For those who love reading JB's comments, join the yahoo mailing list here and you can read his comments most days, fasinating reading, normally. KevH
Wouldn't be surprised if others are tempted to write a book like this. Â As everyone has said, "Confessions" is an outstanding read, and to take Joanne's point one stage further - who would you like to see publish a similar book? Â My vote goes to John Perrin. Gemini
Brilliant choice there Kevin. Second in line for me would be Colin Pratt.

Joanne
Well I finished the book at 4am this morning. Brilliant book but I suppose I was a bit upset by some of its content about some riders.  As for another book like that, definately Rosco  and Steve Johnston (he'd have us all in fits )
Chris
Good read. Â Would love to hear Len Silvers confessions.
Tom Thumb
I would love to read a book about Len Silver or maybe another of the old Allied Presentations team Reg Fearman. I used to sit next to his Mum at Hackney and he used to bring me lots of the old programmes from various tracks, would be nice to read about how they built Smallmead from stratch. Guest cheetahhawk
I, too would like to see a confessions book by dear old Uncle Len Silver. I guess some of it would have to be taken with a pinch of salt though, but I'm sure he has some real good tales to tell.
