Potters_Lass
I suggest wearing black arm bands to remember the sport of speedway. 1929-2003 - RIP British Speedway <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Come off it Whacko! British speedway's hardly dead and buried. So what if individually our British riders aren't as good as Hancock, Rickardsson, Crumpy etc? We're brill as Team GB - just look at the World Cup this year! Britain second and the Aussies...? We were unlucky in the final. There's quite a few up and coming British starlets, like James Wright, Daniel King, Eddie Kennett etc, so don't be going along to that funeral just yet! SuzieQ
Much rather a World Champ that actually rides in Britain! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Erm, so which one didn't? Jerzy Schakiel? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No SCB! I am referring to the only other rider this year that if things go wrong for Jason could the title (for the 6th time if that helps you!) shazzybird
That Maletesse World Champion was good wasn't he? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Born to British Parents in the British Army oh I think that makes him British with Maltese citizenship I think
SCB
But could the Swedes not say the same about Crumpy? After all, he doesn't ride over there, not regulary any way.
SCB
Born to British Parents in the British Army oh I think that makes him British with Maltese citizenship I think <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Crumpy, born to Australian parents. I guess Mark can claim he has spent most of his life in the UK, Crumpy cannot claim to have spent most of his life in Australia, he has spent more of it over here! shazzybird
So your argument is what lost me now no matter how many times I read it
SCB
My argument is Mark is British as he has British parents, so Crumpy is Australian as he has Australian parents. Edited October 1, 2004 by SCB

Whacko
If you cant get hold of black arm bands I would reccomend some black tape, like electricians tape - not too tight though.

orion
In all respect useing black tape can cause trouble in this case yellow or maybe green would be ok

mark cox
Good luck to The Grump tonight in getting his fully deserved and overdue World title. He's fast, consistent and a brilliant racer whose just missed out the last 3 years but not tonight! He's not trying for World Personality, but World Speedway Champion and tonight he'll get his wish. Trees
Personality ............. distinctive personal character so says my dictionary. I'd say Crumpy has got a distinctive personal character, at least everything he says makes sense, he doesn't come out with the same phrases every time and he's no bullrubbishter. No he isn't flamboyant like Rickardsson but who cares about that. He let's his racing do the talking and as far as flamboyant is concerned he can pull a pretty impressive wheelie when he wants to! I wouldn't be surprised if it was wheelies aplenty tonight Surely nothing can go wrong for the bloke!! Can't wait to see the look on Phil's face either, I hope SKY capture the emotion of it all
