shortoi
I'm looking to go to Cardiff for the first time this year, obviously I want to book something well in advance and make a weekend of it as I know so many other speedway fans before me have done. So I ask ye veterans of the Cardiff GP - can you suggest me a reasonably priced hotel near the Millennium Stadium? Preferably one where other speedway fans / forumers are likely to be staying? Thanks in advance.

Bill leahy
Hey shortoi, if you pick a caravan site like Trecco bay about half hour drive from Cardiff, you can get an caravan that sleeps up to eight for about £140 per caravan for the long weekend, you can spend friday night in the club house with other speedway fans (well there were last year) Sat, short drive to Cardiff: Sun, relax, there is other entertainment on site, lots for adults & Kids, right on the beach too: ( god i sound like someone from the Welsh tourist office) we left late sunday night to avoid any traffic (11pm) but you can stay till 10am Monday morning, you must have seven friends that you could split the cost with............ philfromcov
for a cheap hotel, you need to wait until the last moment, so far its worked every time. this year 5 star golf club (vale of glamorgan ) for £60 the room (sleeps two)
Cov Bird
I wanted to go for the weekend next year but I cant now because I will have a baby by then! Going for the day this year was great but if you stayed for the whole weekend it would be fantastic! So looks like a day trip for me for Cardiff, ah well! Queen Bee
You could try the travelodge just outside Cardif (about 20 mins drive, I think). My dad was staying there on business a few weeks back and he enquired about availability.
aegirl
I agree with Bill Leahy, we stayed at Trecco Bay this year. There was 7 of us there and it cost us £20 each. It was good, caravan was nice, right on the beach, it was a good laugh. We got the bus to cardiff, to save parking and all of that. It took an hour or so, but for £3 return you can't really grumble. Only downside was, the caravan park told us the last bus back was at 11ish. We thought that was good, because it gave us plenty of time to get out and get the bus. Only trouble was the bus stopped in Newport. So we had to get a taxi the rest of the way, that only cost £15. We're doing it again this year, but this time there will be 12 of us. Bill leahy
Porthcawl, Euw. Not my idea of a nice place. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, i never got to see Porthcawl, friday night in the club house drinking, sat morning recovering, sat afternoon spent in Cardiff, sat night /late morning back at caravan talking over meeting, more drinking, playing cards: Sunday morning chilled out while kids ran wild, played football, swimming, go -karts with all the other kids, must say the go- karts were quite good, thought the adults was more trouble than the kids here, (all thinking they were Danish going into the corners) sunday evening spent watching the Football England v France, went straight home after France scored there winner, trust the frogs to spoil a great weekend; hope to see some more speedway fans next year: Don't think i could catch a bus to Cardiff from here though, maybe if enough speedway fans turned up, we could hire a coach from the caravan site:
