Guest clivehitch
Scotland really did have some top-notch riders in the 60s/70s..seems to be a demise on the speedway and football front now though. Can remember when the 2 MACS rode for England Lions on an Australian tour!! Charlie Monk the aussie rode for Scotland?! Briggo,Mauger and Mooro the NZ trio rode for GB?! CONFUSING OR WHAT?! DW
Quite a few of the Scots rode down under for England!!! The 2 MACs,I believe Tommy Miller in the 50s and I'm sure George Hunter rode at one point as well. Scotland had a great World pedigree at one point.McKinlay was a multi World Finalist ,indeed if he hadn't fallen off one year he would've been in a run-off for the title! Jimmy Mac was a reserve in the 1972 final at Wembley(and rode),while Scotland were regulars in the World Pairs Final. I could've added others such as Brian Collins, the McKinnas,Colin Caffrey,Harry MacLean,Benny Rourke,James Grieves,Kevin Little,Ross Brady, etc.Yes even Charlie Monk who qualified for Scotland on parentage. With the exception of Martin McKinna,MacLean,Caffrey and Rourke, every one of the above were regulars at one time in the top league. I believe Scotland will come again and maybe the football team with it!!!

A Belle Vue dream team must be almost impossible. Considering you've left out Eric Langton, Frank Varey, Louis Lawson, Ove Fundin, Ron Johnston, Max Grosskreutz and Cyril Maidment. Another whole team. But then who would you leave out of your team to put any of those in???
Sir Jasper
Just looked at the polish side, would'nt it be fantastic if riders onl rode for one team? then we could have european cups and the like!!! but I suppose there are just not enough riders! podster
here's my dream team compiled from teams i've followed since 1988, in no particular order: shooey moran (B.V) my first speedway hero, world no 2 1990, he was robbed!! joe screen (B.V) 1st spell with the aces, robert nagy (Glasgow) never touched mick poole!!!!!!(either time!)plrc 92, steve lawson (Glasgow)out and out hero, Mr glasgow tigers, carl stonehewer (Worky) watched him start out at B.V. now mr workington! simon stead (Worky) need i say anything??? richard musson (B.V) weirdest style ever, 18point full house at powderhall amazing! i would have chosen chris morton but didn't get to see him at his best, granted not a team of world beaters, but they all give great entertainment value. I didn't count Fundin as didn't he only ride half a season for the aces. I completely forgot about Lawson, Grosskreutz and Maidment. I also missed out the Morans, Billy Hamill, Bobby Ott, Larry Ross, Les Collins, Peter Ravn....who do you leave out to put any of them in.
