Timbo
Apparently there was a meeting at Canning Vale on Monday night regarding the new promotion of a bike friendly speedway track. Is there any further news on the progress of this venture? "Ozyace" maybe knows.

Timbo
Hang in there Timbo, flat out at work. I'll let you know when i get a free two seconds. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> G'day Ozyace, I saw in the West Australian on Wednesday that the new circuit is hoped to be around 390 metres (the same as Bibra Lake). It mentioned that the new track would be in the northern suburbs but not an exact location. Is it still in the planning stage or has the deal been done
Ozyace
Timbo, the new track is located right next to the Junior Moto x track at the back of Wanneroo, just past the golf course on Pinjar Rd, i think its called Pederik st or somthing like that. If you are still in Joondalup it will take you about 7 to 8 minutes tops. Things are really moving along nicely now with the posts for the fence put up by Wuffy, Davey Chesh and a few others on the weekend. Mate i work out in Carabooda and will go the back way home tonight and let you know tommorow what she's looking like or better still if you can meet me there at about 3.20pm or in 45mins if you want. I hope you see this post in time.

Stats
A new club - Speedway Motorcycling WA - has been formed combining the Solos, Sidecars and Junior Solos. As mentioned previously they are working at building a Junior Solo track (first of all) on land used by the Junior Motorcross club at Wanneroo. Hopefully a senior track wil be able to be constructed later on. The bike brigade intend to run several meetings in the country and on the Friday night shows at Kwinana. I think the WA Solo title will be a two-night deal - Friday at Kwinana and Saturday at Geraldton. WA Sidecar title is tentatively set down fo Bunbury. The West Australian newspaper piece stated that a 390 metre track will be built to relace the Bibra Lake Speedway in the 'southern' suburbs. Wanneroo, of course, is in the northern suburbs - the article was not about the proposed bike track. Permission has been given for the new Bibra Lake circuit to be built - probably within the confines of the Kwinana Motorplex - using the same parking areas, with the track more than likely constructed on a piece of land out the back - on your left as you drive into the complex. Great news for Bibra Lake competitors and followers - they were thinking of putting their hands up for a round of the Australian Solo Championship, following their very successful runnnig of the Oz Sidecar title back in February. However they were closed down a month later. Not sure how long it will take to get the circuit up and running, but I would feel sure that the bike brigade will be welcomed back with open arms. So not all doom and gloom from the west coast.

JimiC
I saw in the local free rag today that John McNeil is trying to put on a speedway event at Gloucester Park on the 5th February. He's gained provisional acceptance, although no doubt the East Perth yuppies will still have something to say about it. A couple of years ago he tried, but I believe the application was considered to be in too late, and so it was denied. I actually spoke to him at the time, and he had some good names coming over, Leigh Adams, Ryan Sullivan etc, so maybe he'll have them next Feb if available. If anyone knows anymore about this, I'd be interested to know, and I'd be more than happy to help in some capacity (even walking the streets doing leaflet drops etc) Cheers Jimi

Assume you live in the Perth area, so would guess it is the Community Newspaper Edited October 26, 2004 by Timbo
JimiC
Hey Timbo, Yeah, it was in the community newspaper. It never actually mentioned the word speedway, it says motorsport, but I remeber from a couple of years ago when I lived in East Perth and John McNeil came door knocking, trying to gauge the local's reaction, and I have put 2 and 2 together, hopefully getting 4 (with John being an exrider (Leicester, I think)). Would make a good temporary track I reckon, and alot of people in Perth like bikes etc, hopefully it will all go ahead Cheers mate Jimi
