J-D
Izak Santej i believe is (or was until recently) the track record holder around Krsko and a local hero. The amount it costs them to host the GP and i understand have run small losses the last few years, then they are entitled to pick who they think will get the most crowd through the gates. I agree there are better riders about, but from a marketing point it is a good move by the Slovenian promotion.

Thats my point, will he bring more of a crowd than Ferjan? And if politics means that they won`t pick Ferjan would he bring more of a crowd than picking a German rider like they did in Prague.Especially one from Bavaria
pugwash
Picking a German rider would be an insult to Slovenia.
Paleco
Ferjan have decided riding for hungarian, because he have some "problems" with his own club Ljubljana,it was something about money.....and slovenian federation exlude him from slovenian championship! So he refuse riding for slovenia at SWC! The record holder at Krško track is M.Žagar.... Izak Šantej is local, but in Gp he will not play any "sirius" role! Watch out for Žagar,he likes this track and he his "flying" around every time! So be there,Krško track allowes a lot of overtaking,it will be
iris123
Picking a German rider would be an insult to Slovenia. Behave. Was it an insult to the Czech Republic to pick a German rider? Its all about making it financially secure.I would say the vast majority of Slovenian fans will go because Matej Zagar is riding and i think has a good chance of going through into the main event, etc.I hope he does. But Santej is not likely to either go far or to learn and develope from the experience if he was in previous G.P's and hasn`t developed. The fact that another rider from a foreign country might help turn a loss into a profit might help the future of the G.P and Slovenian speedway as a whole. It could be Emiliano Sanchez or Hauzinger if there are enough potential fans from those countries that would go.The fact is Bavaria is one of the richest areas in Europe(at least until Boris Becker lost most of his money to his wife and girlfriends )and it is a speedway area and near Slovenia. The people travelling from Bavaria are likely to spend lots of money in Krsko(hotels, food)which will help local business and get powerfull friends for the speedway promoters. Of course this has to be weighed up with the message it sends to young Slovenian riders. But who knows in a few years time maybe Jurica Pavlic will be getting a wild card
SCB
Picking a German rider would be an insult to Slovenia. Having 2 Englishmen in the GP in Wales is an insult to Wales!!!
