Papa Bazarou
thanks mateusz, is there a bus or a train from bydgoszcz to torun after the meet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Courtesy of the Polrail site. The last two are there just in case you fancy the party in Bydgoszcz Don't fancy getting the 23:59 though, that's for sure. Rico <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 6:14 journey ! That'll be the PKP steam train as seen in Papa's webshots below - the bit you don't know is you have to act as fireman and shovel the coal yourself. Seriously though, 6hrs 14, where is that via - Poznan, Wroclaw, Warsaw and Gdansk ! 1 change must mean a cold night on a platform in the middle of nowhere - party time in Bydogoszc then a mid morning train to Torun on the Sunday has to be the answer ? Splatty
where is everyone standing/sitting? I still haven't got our tickets and am a bit confused as to where we should go a bit of backstraight madness seems appealing but then again so does the first bend stand has anyone got any advice please? Joanne
Hi Splatty I'm sitting on a seat in section A near the first bend. I get the feeling that apart from the dear seats at the start/finish and section A the rest of the stadium is benches so you would have to put you towel down early Having said that I sat on the back straight (on a seat) at Ullevi and it had a brilliant atmosphere and you could see who was actually winning the races. Doing it again in Norway.

Definitely going for the backstraight (Sektor along with our good forum chum Mateusz and his friends. We've sat in Sektor A for the last 4 years and decided it was time to venture out - last year there were too many people in Sektor A and it slightly tainted the evening for a couple of our group. People were just passing their tickets out through the fence which resulted in people all down the stairways and behind the back seats. The view from there of the first bend is superb, but I'm hoping the view from the middle of the back straight and atmosphere (and cost !!) will more than make up for it. I felt sorry for the poor steward who was clearly having the wool pulled over his eyes by quite a few peeps. You know you want the back-straight madness Rico

Sulli
Damn why don't they have a Spanish GP? I could handle that! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because the Spanish have no idea about speedway. Well, the ones I stayed with didn't anyway. It was interesting trying to explain it to them though, especially as my Spanish is very limited

Papa Bazarou
u guys that have been before, they do sell beer ln the stadium, dont they ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Small Lech stands all around the top walkway, not forgetting the amazing Polish barbecues - you get a cardboard tray with a spicy sausage, slice of crusty bread and a dollop of mustard type stuff - it must be an Eastern Eurpoean thing as you get the same in Czecko and Slovenia - must be tried though. Splatty
I must admit it did take me a bit by suprise in Prague - I mean how much would it cost to supply two bits of crusty bread? no seriously though it made a refreshing change to the usual pretend food. The train to Bydgoszcz on Saturday morning, after the GP we catch the train back to Poznan and then on Sunday its back to Berlin for an overnight stay, we fly back on Monday evening. Anyone in Berlin or Poznan when we are there? If so let me know if you want to meet up.
f-s-p
I have a couple of tips for everyone who's going to stay in Berlin. 1. Pickers Sports bar, in Schlosstrasse. Take the U9 towards Rathaus Stegliz (south), and get of at Schlosstrasse, Pickers is directly above in the funny looking red building. Good food with a view over Berlin. Portions are big! It also has about 30 tv's that show whats on Premiere-sports channel. Dont know why, but I always thought Warsteiner tasted better at Pickers... We were suppose to come there, but we decided to fly via Warsaw instead. 2. Safe bet for nightlife is the Irish pub in the Europa-Center, which is next to the Zoo. Between U-Ku'damm and U-Wittenbergplatz. Live music every night, alltough the staff is usually not so nice. 3. To see Berlin from above, go to Pickers, TV-tower@Alexanderplatz (expensive+waiting in line), Reichstag (free but usually long wait), or something totally different (+free). Take what ever S- or U-bahn it may be, that takes you to Gesundbrunnen. That is situated at 12 o'clock on the Berlin ring. Get to street level and head for the hill inside the ring. You will have to walk thru a Rose Garden (looked very promising early summer)´, and some steps to get to the top, but it's worth it. You can see all the planes landing to Tegel, and if youve been to Pickers or Reichstag the day before, you realise that Berlin is not so big after all. More on request... Anyone who's tried it, can I make it from Poznan airport to Poznan Glowny, buy a ticket and get on the train in 40min? It says it's 7km... pugwash
f-s-p. See you for a beer. We're staying at City Hotel and going to sit on back straight. Hope you have got some accomodation, if not you can crash out on our floor. Sorry no three in a bed.
Queen Bee
So whats the opinion on how this one will finish? AJ is in flying form in the Polish league at the moment - I think he tops the averages, and with riding on his home track, I think he may well be a force to be reckoned with! TheStartTart
Will be staying in Bydgoszsz itself on Friday and Saturday nights and looking for a decent bar to while away some time. Last year a few of us met up in the bar at the Hotel Brda - I was going to suggest something similar this year for starters on the Friday evening. I'm sure Papa B will confirm a fine evening was had by one and all Rico <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good god yes Rico, if my hangover was anything to go by, I'll be at the Brda again this year, and you are more than welcome to assist me in the quest of consuming copious amounts of alcohol....
