SW17 Racer - Yes. I went to Cardiff! I didn't see anyone drunk or out of order! But in Prague their was hundereds of drunk Poles! Got pushed over by some, they were urinating in bushes(Not in toilets)

Splatty - Prague is a great place to visit. But if people are drunk then the security guards shouldnt let them enter.

You really shouldn't form opinions on people/countries from one bad experience Jessica.

Think about it, many fans who attended the Prague GP had been there some 4 hours before the meeting started with limited options on how to while away the time.

Can't blame people for having a beer of two, I know I certainly did during the delay, and we met some fans (British) who were going up to the stadium around 12pm to "get into the party mood".

If you didn't like being in the middle of the Polish fans, maybe you should have purchased tickets in the seated area's. There was no pushing or jostling going on there, in fact we had a right old party all night. As for peeing in the bushes, jeez girl, that's not just a Polish thing believe me!

If you never go to Prague or visit any stadium in Poland to watch speedway again it'll be your loss. Really quite jealous of all those travelling over to Bydgoszc, we're already certain of attending either the Czech or one of the Polish GP's again next year - and the more Poles that are there the merrier! :P

Wackie - I don't blame them for having a beer or two but when they are drunk - You have to draw the line somewhere.Because people end up getting hurt. I know i did coz one pushed me over and broke my phone. We purchased out tickets on press and practice.Their was no rain forecast for the GP day. If their was then we would have purchased seat tickets.I know it's not just a Polish thing but do that have to do it right next to you.I didn't say i wasnt going again. We are going to Prague again because we have discounted tickets in the seating area courtasey of BSI.

Beware of very p*ssed Brits then, there were a few of them around the Grandstand this year too!

Awww, I'm so jealous! I'd love to go to Bydgoszcz but have no money.

Just got back from a weeks holiday in Prague mind you & I agree few people spoke English however that wasn't remotely a problem as I'd actually bothered myself to learn some czech before I left. That BBC site is excellent as you can hear how the words should sound to get your phonetics correct.

We got much better service by simply saying hello (dobry den) & thankyou (Dekuji) in Czech. The waiters really respect you for trying & always seemed very surprised to see some English people giving their language a go.

Why do we as Brits have this divine right that everyone should speak our language - you're not in a foreign country until you're trying to translate a foreign menu & talk with various hand signals - thats all part of the fun!

I'm unsurprised the stadium staff don't speak English. As a czech speedway track they probably never get Brits there other than for the GP. Why should they be expected to learn a language they'll use once a year? When the Poles are in Cardiff I doubt any of the stadium staff there speak Polish or Czech & Danish for that matter!

BTW - where abouts in Prague is the Marketa stadium at? I've been twice & looked for it from the top of various towers but have failed to find anything other than another stadium & Sparta Prague's ground - I'm baffled as to its location - anyone help?

Looking for a big Tomasz Victory!!!  :D  :D  and a few pints as well of course!

Well there's 7 Monarchs fans in our group, 4 in yours Stevie.

Make sure you make it to the Brda on the Friday - there were two Tiggers in there last year and we must rule the roost.

yeah I saw this mad brit girl in a raincoat very much the worse for wear and draped over some german/dane geezer - anyone know who she was?

;)

Last year a few of us met up in the bar at the Hotel Brda - I was going to suggest something similar this year for starters on the Friday evening.

Hotel Brda on Friday sounds like a fine starting place so that we can enjoy some Zywiec or Lech Premium Sport

sounds good to me - Brda is the place to mosy on down to then!

No. I'm not kidding. In the stadium, they didn't speak English. We was trying to get ou the stadium and explain that we wanted to come back in but they didn't understand/didn't speak English.

But i think Prague and Poland is a very - Beer(Ish)Country. At the Speedway meetings the Poles like to get drunk.(Look at the drama that we had when we went to Prague and were packed in with Poles)

I was absolutely devastated in Copenhagen, because none of the organizers spoke finnish!! Can you believe that??

Also in Copenhagen, on the backstraight, in front of me (3people) and besides me (2), all danish and pissed as hell by heat 16. I almost got the rubbish beaten out of me, when they started arguing. I was the one in middle, while security was watching the racing and having coffee.

My girlfriends sister has really been getting on my nerves in the last two years, because she's always moaning about us finns and the way we drink. The fact is, that she has no idea whats happening elsewhere. Yes she's been abroad, but she likes it "posh", so she has no idea about the real people. People drink to get drunk all over the world. You shouldn't generalise a nation on the actions of individuals.

I've been holding this message back for three months now, saw the opportunity and...

I think all countrys should learn to speak English but saying that we are a lazy country at learning other languages (I'm learnin Danish :) )

We had some people near us who were drinking but they were not as bad as Prague. I think alchol should be banned from Grand Prix and Speedway meetings.

Now that would be stupid with a capital S!

Maybe but it would stop people from getting hurt!

Point 1 Why on earth should everyone learn English ??? The world would be a duller place for it.

Point 2 Get over your experience from Prague - the chip on your shoulder must really be getting you down as you've been carrying it around so long.

Personally I cannot wait to get to Bydgoszcz and soak up the atmosphere in the stadium. As you can see from the comments on the thread so far from those going this is THE GP of the season, best racing normally, best atmosphere and best result (GO TOMEK !). Let us get on with enjoying our anticipation of our trek to the speedway Mecca that is Bydgoszcz.

If only I thought that your post was clever and meant as a wind-up. Sadly I think you genuinely mean what you say.

<shakes head>

Either you need to wake up and smell the coffee or I need given some strength.
