wollongong
Mis-read the information - YES it was 1947/48. While I was reading an article about Wimbledon and Mike Erskine it started with the bombing of the stadium in 1943 - that's where I mis-understood. Thanx again Norbold
iris123
Mike Erskine did start riding in 1933 of course so the autograph could be earlier than the war, although if all the others are from the later period it would suggest his is also
wollongong
Thanx Iris123, Very interesting - we'll wait and see what Norman and Jim have to say. Edited August 15, 2004 by wollongong
norbold
Arthur Forrest and Bill Gilbert were certainly post-war only. So it seems likely they all were. I reckon the dates 1947-9 are just about right.
wollongong
Thanx Norbold for all your input and the rest of the gang. It has been most helpful.
Guest Jim Blanchard
Thanks for your email Wollongong and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have been away since the 12th on business and only returned yesterday. I dont like giving up anything like this but I fear I have no more help to give you. If Norbold is not able to help you with this I would only be struggling anyway.

norbold
Yes, Wilbur Lmoreaux, Arthur Atkinson and Aub Lawson are there, but I don't think he means those...
Guest Jim Blanchard
OH OK, Norman take it easy.... the other one on there looks like Bill Gilbert. The other one, well it reads to me like 'George Slinger' who ever that is. I cant make it fit anything else. Sorry Wollongong.
