shazzybird
Now you've done it you've upset ML! I really think the "Breeze Block" thing was taken in totally the wrong way! I read it as a jokey remark rather than a serious one. Yes I know people are rambling on about how it could of been a serious threat but.......... the mods have ways to find IP adresses and then probably home addresses. Silly remark yes, serious one I really don't think so. Why go on about it, forget it, if it happens bleet on
garf
I'm pretty sure Hans Andersen is, to some extent, using comments made on this forum and his own guest book (where comments made were far worse than on here) as an excuse to duck out of British Speedway for a match or two. Maybe you knows more than all the rest of us ? IMO he might have received threats privately in his phone, mail etc. Actually I don't think Hans is taking much notice of the threats on the forum. iris123
Think Glasgow is the key here - why should everyone be judged by 2 peoples standards? I was only pointing out that it can happen. It's also unfair to suggest that this kind of behaviour would only happen in Glasgow. Too true.Just as well there isn`t a track in Falkirk

OK fair enough Glasgow is a town well known for its friendlyness and doesnt have a headbutt named after it then does it. All I was saying is that just because something happened at Glasgow doesnt mean it would have happened anywhere else does it? I dont see why you should be judging EB fans by the actions of Glasgow fans
Midnight_Lady
I wasn't judging Eastbourne fans by Glasgow fans. I was pointing out that violence and threats of violence can happen anywhere. Jeez
Liontamer
Speaking as a pacifist I think that anyone who endorses any kind of violence deserve to have their legs broken.

Guest Jim Blanchard
I think that we should get over it. I was disappointed that we did not win as I felt we were good enough to win and all the team GB tried their best. It was wonderful and enjoyable speedway event and really what more could we ask for? Hans Andersen is a young man who perhaps made an error of judgment and will have to explain it away for sometime to come but we all make mistakes and at his age he made decision in a split second, that he most likely regrets. I guess when its taken into account - one team mate either side of him - he could have been between a rock and a hardplace he might have been a bit unsure which way to go. Personally. I think he seems a really nice kid and a great speedway rider. In the grand scheme of things in this life today, when our young servicemen are still dying abroad we should put our disappointments behind us and just be glad that we are alive and we can enjoy a great and fantastic sport. Yeah, boo him and give him some stick but bear in mind that he could just as easily been our hero and we cant afford to lose riders of his quality to the sport in this country. Maybe you knows more than all the rest of us ? No, just an opinion which I still think could be likely after reading about his interview on Danish TV and a quote from a fellow Danish rider stating he wasn't injured on Monday. IMO he might have received threats privately in his phone, mail etc. Actually I don't think Hans is taking much notice of the threats on the forum. If personal threats have been made to Hans via phone or by post then I hope he's got the police involved, that's a far more serious matter than some heat of the moment comment posted on a public forum. Comments made on the internet are the only things that have been reported as possible threats though haven't they? IMO the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. Sports always have people we just love to hate and Speedway's no different. This week Hans is taking the lead role, next week Nicki Pedersen will probably take the role back from his young understudy.

One of the most sensible posts out of the carnage on this board. I wish I had been articulate enough to come up with that.

Jim that is the first post that sums this up for me. I've not commented before because I really honestly do not know what to think on this. The only person who knows what happened is Hans himself... I was there on Saturday and the first I knew of the controversy was when I came home and read this forum. There will always be heroes and villains, but I do feel sorry for what Hans has had to endure - are some people just looking for a scapegoat because we lost? I would have loved for Team GB to win, but for the whole SWC to have been forgotten and to be overtaken by what one rider might or might not have done seems sad to me. shazzybird
One moment of madness, quite agree JB & Rabbit you're posts have put it all into perspective. Does anyone really feel though that Hans should fear for his safety within British Speedway. It was nearly a week ago and will go down in history as the Day Team GB Nearly Won the SWC............... we'll live to fight another day and next time it's ours (just like I said this time, well.......... I was almost right for once )
