listen people, even if hans let both scotty and pk passed on the form pk was on that night it would have made a differance, even if hans didn't let either through all pk had to do was stay ahead of scotty. according to the poole post bag, andersen has been recieving death threats and on sky threaten to sue people. i know some people think he made a mistake, but face it if hans wasn't in the heat all pk had to do was finish ahead of scotty. after all the problems with pedersen fencing people forgot it, all i say leave off hans, wat happened if u were danish in the same position as gb and nicholls did wat hans did would people slate him, boo him , threaten him?

Despite my feelings about Hans, i am ashamed to be associated as a british fan with those who are intimidating and threatening him!

He does not seen like the kind of guy who would back away from silly idle threats......he obviously feels there is some substance to them and is genuinely scared for his own safety!

A sad day for speedway.......british speedway in particular

Did Hans say he was actually getting death threats over it? Planning to sue is a bit OTT as well. I planned to boo him tonight and maybe call him some nasty names but its all getting out of hand now. If people have been threating to hurt him physically and it would appear they have then I think everyone needs to calm down. Im sure Hans wouldnt mind a bit of name calling - after all hes not exactly shy about it on sky but i wouldnt like to see him hurt over it, as after all at the end of the day PK may well have won in the end

I am a little bemused by the 'whole thing should be forgotten' brigade on here

you cant undo what has been done and judging by the attitude of all the riders who commented on the situation on sky tonight they obviously feel the same way. I didn't hear any of them calling for it to be forgotten for the sake of the 'magician.'

while there is no room for threats of violence and I have some sympathy for the guy on this point it does not alter what happened and I find it typical of Speedway that there is no reprimand for behaviour which compromises not only betting in the sport but also the spirit of competition and some 2 days later people are only too eager to sweep it under the carpet.

I can't think of many things which could kill the sport quicker than the tolerance of such incidents.

that Splatty is a different issue to threatening Andersen IMO

Maybe if the authorities had some kind of independent disciplinary action in place for situations like this and actually used them, we wouldn't but does the phrase flog a dead horse mean anything.

I'm afraid for me speedway as a SPORT is rapidly disappearing over the horizon and is being replaced by speedway the entertainment. It started a few years ago, co-incided with Sky entering left  , and has become more of a pantomime ever since.

For the prosecution

Riders no longer qualifying for the World Title (GP) by endeavour

Meetings run to Sky schedules not safety for riders

and the decisive piece of evidence

Betting on races/matches ......combined with.....

DINGLY DANGLIES = throwing a race in other words.

sorry if that's a bit simplistic but I'm due at work very soon and I think you get where I'm coming from.

As Jive said it's time to move on, cos nothing will be done about it, rightly or wrongly. I shall try my best to remember SWC 2004 for two amazing meetings on the Thursday and Saturday and one of the best races ever between Havvy and Rempala.

maybe it is flogging a dead horse - and maybe it wouldn't be if it was noticed but it is exactly my point - all of a sudden because an idiot or two have threatened the guy and he no longer wants to play ball everyone starts to forget the real issues here

You might be resigned to the pantomine - I guess it might take me a while longer - I never was a fan of WWF

In the papers last week I read that the Austrian referee who ruled out Sol Campbels goal for England in Euro 2004, also recieved death notes and that he had been beaten and had his car vandalised. I hope we are not going down this route, since Speedway prides itself on being fair.

I sincerely hope too that no speedway fans lower themselves to the level of "some" football fans.

There was also the threat to Crumpy and his family a few months ago.

I just hope that peoples' emotions calm down and we look forward to the SWC 2005. It would be the perfect competition if only BSI weren't taking the lion's share of the tv revenue

Having said that, Andersen will have to go out of his way to earn forgiveness not only for Saturday but for all his on track misdemeanours. If he wants to be liked and respected by all he will have to change his ways big time and quick!!

I very much doubt it wjasica. Seems to me that a few people have taken things far too seriously and can't see beyond all the heat of the moment stuff.

We've had riders before trying to knock 6 bells out of each other on track and fans of said riders sticking their oar in saying things like "next time he rides here, I'll have him" etc. NOTHING EVER HAPPENS - It's all talk, and as others have stated all a big pantomine!

I'm pretty sure Hans Andersen is, to some extent, using comments made on this forum and his own guest book (where comments made were far worse than on here) as an excuse to duck out of British Speedway for a match or two.

He's not flavour of the month at the present time with many people involved in British Speedway from promoters, team managers, riders all the way down to the fans, and his mysterious 24 hour injury will do nothing but add fuel to the fire of people thinking his non-appearance was really due to a guilty conscience!

I'm sure rival riders have said things to Andersen previously after on-track incidents (Floppy & Lee Richardson spring to mind recently) which he's shrugged off, and got on with things. Personally, I'd be more worried about other riders making comments than fans on the internet, after all they're the one's in close proximatey to him throwing 500cc motocycles around bends just inches from him.

Instead he's chosen to claim he fears for his safety because of some off the cuff, heat of the moment comments made by people who will probably only see him ride on tv this season. I mean, can you really see fans carrying breeze blocks into stadiums hidden under their jackets to try to lob at him as he wizzes past at 60mph!

Me thinks, Mr Andersen knows there are far more people than just the fans who weren't amused by his antics & tv interview on Saturday night and is trying to spin things around slightly now to get a sympathy vote!

The sooner Hans finds his bottle, the sooner this will be over and forgotten.

Tell that to Peter Carr who was physically attacked by two Glasgow fans a few seasons ago

Think Glasgow is the key here - why should everyone be judged by 2 peoples standards? If the said person who threatened to throw the breeze block actually knew Arlington he would have known that it would be impossible on the back straight and thats even if you take things seriously. I think its much more likely that Hans is using these threats as an excuse as he cant face his team mates and he knew Floppy wanted to show him up after his comments on Sky

There is always the possibility though that some nutter will carry out the threat....may not have been the breeze block one, but maybe something else....all threats HAVE to be taken seriously, How was he to know that they MAY have only been posted as a joke.

Wot? You mean I'm the only one then dammit? :(

Maybe some of the others will try & walk in with the breeze block on their shoulder, would make a change from a chip! :D
