Just to thank all of you for your fantastic support at the final it was really goose bump material for the boys and I, we really did want to win that not just for us but for all of you.

There is nothing else we could have done they rode their hearts out and that is all I can ask, everyone should be so proud. second place am I happy? not really, I came to win the World Cup and this was my best chance nobody remembers second places that old adage 'good loser' show me a good loser and I will show you a loser,we were not good losers we were devastated and in the cold light of day there was no more we could have done everyone rode theirs guts out and to lose it the way we did hurts me even more, dont want to comment to much, think i probably spouted off to some of the press after the meeting which perhaps I shouldnt have but that was the way I felt. Congrats to Sweden their name is on the trophy and ours isnt thats the facts. Thanks again for your support was much appreciated.

for all that you have stated there i think the whole of GB thinks the same. The lads and you done GB proud, wish i could have been there to soak up the athmosphere but it was a bit to far.

i think we were as deverstated as you and when you gave that interview with sophie i had a tear in my eye. ( as did a few other of us fans i would have imagained).

The lads gave there all and nothing more could have been done on their part it was just the luck of the draw.

Middlo, congrats to you and all of the six riders, they put in a brilliant performance, in both their meetings ,they may have got the Silver instead of Gold, but to me and most of the british fans, they are the Winners, thanks for Two Great meetings lads, dont let it get you down you should hold your heads up for the performances that you all put in,as far as i am concerned you are all tops, and you WILL get it next year.

Congratulations to you and all 6 GB riders for giving us the best week of international speedway in 15 years.

You say that no one remembers second place but I will remember last night for a long time. It was a great night and a great meeting.

The whole team stepped up a gear and rode their hearts out and we have you to thank for motivating them.

good luck for next year

Nice to hear your thoughts Middlo and that you werent happy as no-one remembers who finished second winning is what matters.

You cant win anything when others cheat.

So we in affect we won Middlo, If it was F!, MotoGP, athletics or any sport the results would not stand. We were the best team on the night not the Swedes. Well done you and all the lads.

 Wondered how long it would take for someone to start the sour grapes. no one cheated, the Swedes won because the scored the most points.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post Mr Middleditch and congratulations to all those involved with the England team for a stirling effort. B)

Middlo, thanks for posting! I can't think of many International Team Managers who would communicate with the fans this way. If any!

But, don't you even dare say that we won't remember this World Cup! I was at Arlington when Team GB went straight through to the final. I thought the atmosphere that night was electric!

Then followed two other meetings, memorable for different reasons...... (we won't mention the Eastbourne black out here...... oopps!! I guess I just did!)

But as for forgetting the Final! Well, I won't. Ever! The atmosphere was way above "being electric"! To be at Poole, and to be part of that event was just amazing! The Team rode like demons! I am not going to pick out individual performances, because there wasn't a weak link in the team of 6.

Yes, I would have been ecstatic to have watched the celebrations with Team GB as No 1 on the podium! As would the rest of the GB supporters.

But, jeez!! You guys did a great job! Not only for your country (which is GB not England!) but to speedway in general. I can't imagine how anyone could watch the final (whether by design or accident!!) and not want to watch more speedway!!

Roll on the next World Cup!

Neil,

The fact that you were prepared to post here after what happened on Saturday speaks volumes for your character & you as a person.

I take my hat off to you sir. You & your team deserved all the support you got & more. The name on the trophy may be Sweden, but no-one in the team GB set up could be faulted for their grit, determination, drive, ambition & desire. Many expected team GB to sink without trace in this competiton, but just a single point stopped you from becoming champions of the world. Silver was more than so many thought you & your team capable of & the whole team won a new army of fans last night.

Your efforts deserved nothing less & when the boys were asked to stand up & be counted, yourself included, they did to a man.

Take a bow, Neil Middleditch & the six riders who donned the team GB colours with such distinction this last week. You made me proud to say "I'm British."

Winners all.
