Yes mapo2.

It's been aired before. We still need a body to oversee and improve refereeing quality. It's been mentioned in one or two replies tonight that this ref wasn't up to the mark, and not only tonight. Judging by the amount of time he spent on the phone querying him I think Ole Olsen thinks we need one too.

We also need a disciplinary body with teeth to punish riders who overstep the mark.

yeah and perhaps we need someone to oversee him too!

Too right.

I was told by someone involved in the organisation of the sport that OO can pull strokes when he wants to and I can now see what he meant.

OO certainly doesn't seem to distance himself from attracting these sort of comments does he. The ref had a mare tonight, an absolute mare.

I thought the most telling incident (heat 9) was when Gollob fell and was reluctant to clear the track, but the referee seemed strangely unwilling to stop the race. And who was leading? ...David Norris.

Next time someone brings up the old canard about how refereeing could be improved by having ex-riders this meeting will be cited in evidence against the proposition.

Like with goalkeepers at football, we used to have the best refs in the World.

Sadly all 3 British refs on the international circuit are an embarrassment.

All 3 have shown themselves to be bottlers and with poor judgement.

Who choses which of our refs do international meetings? Olsen?

Tony "second class" Steele must have the skin of a rhino to want to continue to ref at international level when he is so clearly out of his depth.

Doesn't the guy watch his meetings on Sky when he gets home?

There are a lot of comments on some of these threads which say that the ref "had a mare" on Saturday night, when the fact of the matter was that he didn't "have a mare" he was simply biased towards Team GB.

I cannot think of any other sport which would allow a referee to officiate in a world final in which his/her own county's team were participating - it is a ridiculous situation.

Surely a referee from Czech/Hungary/Italy/Australia could have been obtained for what is the WORLD CUP FINAL.

I know it easier to say "the ref had a mare" than to actually come out and say he was biased, but imagine if you were a Swedish, Danish or Polsh fan sitting at home watching the meeting on Saturday night - what way would it have looked to you?

It is my opinion that if anyone tainted this meeting it was the referee, not Hans Andersen. I also think that if you look back at some of the iffy decisions and what the situation would have been if they had been correctly awarded, it may well have been a 3 horse race, or even a 2 horse race between the Swedes and Danes.

That said, I certainly do not wish to detract from a superb peformance by Team GB (believe it or not, I am a Brit myself), and what was a fantastic week of speedway.

I just wanted to have my say.
