Guest Proud to sponsor Hans
For the record and quite happy to put 'my head above the parapet' Poole Tourism spondored Hans 3 years ago when he first joined Poole - as those in Poole will know we promote a series of events Each Tuesday - April to September 'Crescent' Dream Machines sees a gathering of typically 2000 bikes on Poole Quay Each Thursday in summer we have fireworks, bands and BBQs down the beach Each Friday on the Quay - car nights sucha s minis one week / red open tops the next So we were keen to build on the concept and agreed to get right behind Matt Ford and Speedway by promoting Wednesdays as Speedway night and over last 3 years have done that on banners acroos Poole High Street; our Visitors Guide; website and 100,000s of Special Events promo leaflets. We also have good links with Castrol and helped secure sponsorship for Hans from them and last year arranged a 'traingular' deal which saw Castrol having title sponsorship of the Dram Machine event on the Quay and £5000 of oil product being sponsored to the whole Poole team We also sponsor Heats 2 and 3 at Elite League meetings; sponsored the fireworks (ie the real ones) at the end of the SWC; and have made the huge old Tote board at Wimborne Road into a fab aerial pic of Poole Harbour As part of our package of support for Speedway we sponsored Hans and agreed to do so for 3 years .... when Matty chose to release him for 2003 we felt it was entirely right to maintain our support and so glad we did ... Hans has worked hard for us at travel industry events and photo-calls to promote Poole that have gained us much free publicity. Whether he is riding for Poole; Peterborough or Ipswich or anyone else for that matter he delivers our branding to TV sets around the world - when he wins a GP he delivers enormous extra value to us ... I would have thought Speedway fans would be pleased to see sponsors getting involved with their sport?

But it's surely the reason "Poole Tourism" have sponsored a Dane instead of a Brit?
Robyn1972
Get behind the British lads.Oh you can't, sorry forgot you haven't got any at Poole. Right - presumably your aim by posting pointless conmments like this is to put people off sponsoring speedway altogether? Sounds to me like the Poole Tourism people should be applauded for the amount they are doing for speedway in the town, not slagged off for it by small minded fools who can't see what is good for the sport. Of course it would be good for speedway as a whole for ALL teams to have British riders, and as many as possible, but at the moment Poole are breaking no rules by building their team in this way. Storming Norman
Brave of you to put your head above the parapet Poole Tourism although you're as entitled to your views as those of us who are anti-Hans. I'm pleased Poole Tourism is putting sponsorship money into speedway and that you feel you're getting a good return. To be fair, you haven't got any local top Brits to sponsor in Poole. That would be ideal as I suspect British fans would react even better. I'm sure Hans very much appreciates your support. Equally, you should be able to understand why so many British fans are so angry with Hans.

Mind you, if they had got involved the year before that - Poole had Gary Havelock, Scott Nicholls, Mark Loram and Alun Rossiter, we also had Justin Elkins but.....! tony159
Cant understand why Poole Tourism still sponsor Andersen . Mark Loram was World Champion when he rode for Poole . He still typifies everything British .............. Honesty , fairness and a never give up attitude ..... Everyone who loves Speedway respects Mark for what he stands for. Where as Andersen ..... Has never been World Champion . Typifies everything Danish ........... Honesty , fairness and never give up attitude ......... DONT THINK SO . Most people who follow speedway in the U.K dont respect Hans and what he stands for .
FlyinRyan
Hans is dead to me. "I didnt see PK coming" He looked right behind him and saw him!!! Scott Nicholls: "I saw a red light, there were two riders in front of me, I thought Nicki had come off" Scott held his hand out to warn the rider behind, which was Nicki. Can he not count or was he lying as well? Riders have split seconds to assess a situation, who knows what they see or think they see. shazzybird
Exactly he saw a red light and stopped (and no funny comments here for the wording please) like you say they have split seconds to make decisions Scotts only crime there was that a numpty in the crowd used it's flash camera at that point. Years ago flash cameras were not allowed at any meetings only official photographs on the centre green were taken after dark (Kerry Dunlop what ever happend to him?) maybe time to go back to that ruling? Lanzilla
I just hope that any sponsors reading some of these posts see them for what they are.....pathetic ramblings. Great post from Poole Tourism and i think that most fans of Poole are grateful that you are associated with the Club and hope you will be around for many years to come. I had someone else say this to me but how I see it, Scott would have put his hand up instinctively ................... Why would he when the only rider who could have possibly fallen off without his knowledge was the guy behind. Was he lying? Was there really a red light or did he think he had completed four laps. Who knows? The point I am trying to make is that what Andersen said when being interviewed he said because that's what he thought. He's hardly likely to say he never saw PK when he would know that TV replays would prove otherwise. He probably thought PK was Gollob they were wearing similar racesuits. People are to quick to judge others than our own and some people on this friggin forum are like dogs with bones. Take some time out with these incidents and try to think it through logically and remember riders have split seconds to make a judgement.
