Who will win the World Cup??

Recommended Posts

Then when it gets to Poole it's a different story, the Poles are much better round Poole and I think that Gollob will get good back up from everyone, Hampel and Protasiewicz in particular. Greg Walasek has a definite liking for the Poole track and Kolodziej will come of age.

They wont have any trouble going to the final and they might not win but they'll definitely be there or there abouts pushing for top spot.

Protasiewicz isn`t riding due to a back injury

1 Sweden (When it comes to the final they will be too strong)

2 Denmark (Give them another year and they'll be the team to beat)

3 Australia (Apart from the top 3 I don't think the points will be that free-flowing, which will be their downfall)

4 GB (Slightly unpredictable. Still plenty of ifs and buts. They can do it for sure, I just have a feeling that it's not meant to be this time around)

Wieslaw Jagus (sp?) is replaing Piotr Protasewiesz, the Pole had trouble getting a team together let along a squad as there is no money to be made from the SWC, so most of there better riders become "injured".

So USA and now Poland will not fall for the BSI crap, how long until others follow suit? Loram also made a stand about the 5 man races, let hope other make a point.

What a silly allegation.

To allegate that the Danish riders are all riding dirty just because a few is riding on the edge, also called "hard riding" which is allowed by the book. Otherwise the ref. has to take action.

Speedway is a tough game and a hard race. The spectators expects some kind of drama and entertainment when they go to the matches. They want something for the money.

A drama can be defined as many things:

The excellent gating of more than one rider going into the first bend and the

battle through and out of the second bend.

The excellent racing through more than one lap by the riders with lots of

overtaking.

The extaordinary ride by one rider making all the right lines and getting close to

the track-record.

The excellent riding by two riders from the same team, (teamriding) to save the

5-1

The "letting steam out" by the rider who was excluded unfairly either as the

cause to another riders riding or being the victim.

And all the other situations.

I don't believe anyone deliberatly will go out in a meeting and, as you say, knock the opponents of the bikes.

But during the race, a lot of steam is on the kettles and in many situations it is a matter of who is having the most "guts" and keeps the throttle on. They are all riding to the limit, and sometimes over the limit.

I believe there is a big difference between "riding dirty" and "riding hard"

What are you actually looking for in the matches ? The parades, the race or what or just the bikes ?

I'm going for the race, the competion between 2 equal riders going for the 3 points, and the "show-of" by the riders. Or just the drama on the track, so to say.

If Johnston and Shields can chip in with a few points (unlike Lyons the last two years), Crump, Adams and Sullivan can win it for the Aussies again.

Denmark and Sweden have both been highly motivated recently and are capable of doing the business. Team GB are an enigma; they've been dreadfully unlucky with injuries for the last two world cups, but must have a genuine chance this time.

I'm sure they'll be the four finallists though. Poland fifth and the Czechs sixth, with Italy and Hungary totally outclassed. Shame that Russia with Darkin & Povazhny, Slovenia with Zagar & Ferjan, or Finland with Kylmakorpi & Laukannen can't be there to provide some meaningful competition. And a huge shame that we can't see Hancock, Hamill, etc. to represent the Yanks.

I'm on my way down from Manchester on Monday to watch the racing - let's hope for a week of dry weather! I've booked my accommodation in youth hostels, thus qualifying for the title of the oldest youth hosteller in the world.

Sam.
