How is the format of the meeting ?

An ordinary one with 2 SEMIs and a FINAL ?

Yes Garf, according to FIM rulebook it's the same as in the qual. rounds and semifinal rounds.

Thanks Tomaz.

As usual you are very well informed. You have saved my a.. a few times. :D

Thanks again.

I know the semi-finals idea has actually caused Wato more trouble in the last 2 round (been top scorer/2nd top) and ended up 8th (lol) but I think in the harder round now he is betetr off hoping to score 9 or 10 (to sneak into the semi) and then pull out a couple of good rides then.

I did intend to go out to Denmark for this one, then I got a job  I'll have to make do with Cardiff and a couple of GP's next season instead, infact, I might become a GP regular next season :D

BTW, if someone can send texts, I'll quite happily accept them for this meeting, it could well be the biggest meeting in Newports history (modern era) ;)

Obviously as a Newport fan I am hoping that Wato & Puk will fill the top 2 places in this meeting.

However,it looks a tough lineup with Norris,Karlsson,Bjerre, e.t.c involved & it will be very tough for Wato & Puk to make it.

There will probably be live updates at either of the following excellent Polish sites:-

www.przegladzuzlowy.pl

or

www.totalspeedway.com

This is a very important meeting because it is the last time that riders will be able to qualify for the GP series on their own merits before BSI continue their crusade to turn the sport into a circus....

What chance will young/unfashionable riders have of making it to the GPs when Messrs Olsen and Postlethwaite are choosing the GP field?

PS - Don't discount Wies?aw Jagu? from consideration. He has been one of the leading riders in the Swedish league all season and regularly outperforms Crump for Apator Toru?. He is a good outside bet for Saturday although I think it is likely that the track will be prepared to Danish tastes....

;)

Will Hans Andersson ride or not though. Without dragging old news up he is apparently injured and so might miss it. I cant say Ill be upset either as Ill be rooting for Floppy to qualify

Bit of a mixed bag with that line-up. Fair dues to all the riders for getting there but one or two surprised me as I haven’t followed the qualifying rounds very closely. Craig Watson for example, what route did he take and did he have any notable scalps along the way? I have always been a Watto fan, don’t really know why apart from the fact he rode for Newport with the legendary (well to me and a few mates) Frank Smart.

Also any info on Balinski, never heard of him. The Poles always seem to have a rider come through and do well in this sort of meeting only to never be heard of much again. Is he a youngster worth keeping tabs on?

Good luck to Norris and Hans (ahem) but also hope Bjerre and Iversen who I rate highly do well and of course Lindback. It would be great to get some of the young pretenders in the GP mix early to see if they can unsettle the big boys. It may be too soon for Lindback or Bjerre but the experience would do them good I’m sure.

 If Watson qualifies Newport could be in the poo poo. Can't see him being able to get back to South Wales on a Sunday for 2pm starts following GP's next season.

Looking at the line up, I'd expect Floppy & Peter Karlsson to qualify (or will PK return the favour and help Andersen through?):wink:
