charlietheplasterer
All, I know FIM races have to be re-run if the race is stopped, but is it time the referee has the discretion at hand to award the stopped race leader the victory if the incident occurs between the 2nd and 3rd place, or 3rd and 4th place riders in the heat. I think it's unfair on the riders, especially in eliminators. Charlie Sharp.
SCB
I'm waiting for the day when some rider uses his head to get another chance. In the first semi last night I was screamig at the tele for Puk to lay the bike down on the run upto the line to "avoid" Scott Nicholls and get a re-run as all the riders would not have passed the line. It's only a matter of time before someone falls on the 4th bend and someone lays the bike down to avoid him rather than riding over the line in 4rd. Or am I the only cynical one who would use this loop-hole if ever given a chance? Cheating? Nah, just a loop-hole that I'm sure Matt Ford would use
charlietheplasterer
All, It would indeed have made an interesting scenario if NKI had laid his bike down in the 1st semi, would or could the referee exclude both riders and on which grounds?or order a re-run with 2 riders already passed the finish line... Now that this thread has come to light, who will be the 1st rider to chance his arm using this tactic??? Cheers all, Charlie
SCB
As Nicholls and his bike were sprawled across the track he'd have been in the re-run with AJ and who ever it was that won the heat. It HAS to be re-run if a rider falls and causes another rider to fall or lay the bike down so there no chancing your arm, it's a sure fire way to get your self another chance! Similary, if you're in third and the rider in 4th is close to you, go into the bend and let him knock you off, though thats harder that laying it down. I guess the referee could exclude the rider who laid the bike down for unnessearilly laying the bike down so it might be a risk, but the rider has nothing to lose.
