Can anybody tell me what happened to Nicki when he fell in the final? Did he just slide off or what? Also in his heat 19 stoush with Crump, where were the two on the track? Was it on back straight? If so, contact between Pedersen's deflector and Crump's front wheel (even if a little) would seem to indicate that Crump wasn't left enough racing room. Now don't all jump on me for supporting Crump. I'm just trying to work out what happened. Heat 19 was hardly a critical race anyway. But what WAS critical was the final. In my opinion the official GP reported erred in not giving a full description of what happened to Pedersen, other than he fell and Crump won the re-start. Dont know what you people think, but I reckon the report (the ONLY report we have to go on) is pretty weak for us who cant see the GP for another fortnight. The report also boo-booed when it said that: "One of the unluckiest riders on the night was Hans Andersen who was set for the final until he crashed on the last bend of Heat 22." Grachan Posted June 27, 2004 Report Share Posted June 27, 2004 Scott Nicholls was more unlucky! He fell on the last bend of the semi, whilst in a qualifiying position. This is how I remember it. Pedersen & Crump were, I think, on the third/fourth bend of the first lap. Pedersen moved out coming off the bend and Crump came in slightly. Pedersen's deflecter hit Crump's front wheel. Crump went down. In the Final, Pedersen lifted on bend 4 (not sure which lap) and came down. His bike careered down the track a bit, and he ran after it and tried to drag it off the track but was too late and the race was stopped. diamondgem Posted June 27, 2004 Report Share Posted June 27, 2004 How I saw the incidents were: The Pedersen/Crump thing - Nicki was out in front and moved outwards on the 4th bend (as he was entitled to do as he was in front and could choose his line). Crump also decided to go on the outside. There was minimal contact from Nicki's dirt deflector and Jason went down in dramatic style. A limp which suddenly appeared then disappeared just as quickly when Nicki was excluded! As for the final, Nicki didn't gate and was at the back when he picked up some grip (as had Nicholls & Rickardsson in other races on the same spot) coming out of the 4th bend. He fell off the back and hit the fence along the straight and as Grachan says he ran after the bike and tried to clear it off the track but the ref stopped the race anyway. As for Hans, after leading the race from Nicki, Scott and Bjarne something went on his bike (blown engine?) on the 4th bend of the last lap which put Nicki and Scott through to the semis.
