Conkers
Am I alone in thinking that the Speedway World Cup ad is a load of twaddle?
JT
I was thinking that when I watched it, compared to the other high quality GP ads this one is rather dissapointing and certainly not something I would watch and take an interest in buying tickets for! Almost seems with the party theme that the event is more like a school fete than a World Cup speedway tournament! SCB
The BSI adverts are always taccy rubbish. The BSI Gp advert was equally nasty. Let Sky make them an advert, there adverts are always good. Whats with the bloody palm tree? Are the taking over speedway? First Swindon and now the SWC, how many palm trees at Arlington and Wimbourne Road? A rough guess, NONE?! gooner_girl4eva
I think the World Cup advert is very tacky, makes me wonder what I'm letting myself in for. I dont think the GP advert for Cardiff was bad though, I think that was good. They should have kept with a similar theme instead of all the plam trees, fancy dress, limbo dancing and face painting etc, looks like a kiddies day out
Guest gilbert
looks like a kiddies day out : The more kids that come the better because the parents will be there and the kids will get "hooked" - im guessing thats the logic of the ad? i persoanlly havent seen it is there a link so that i can? i dont ahve sky not all of us are rich...from looking at the prices i think its over priced for what its worth. The Grim Reaper
Am I alone in thinking that the Speedway World Cup ad is a load of twaddle? No, it's another example of Sky ar*elicking round their two favourite tracks once again. They don't give a stuff about any other tracks so my advice is let the Poole & Eastbourne lot get on with it & don't bother wasting your money. Guest Dundrie
So is that why they chose those two tracks - Thought they may have used one further north - like Oxford or Swindon
Addy
Hmmm Not sure - much farther North and the Sky lot would probably get a nose bleed. Â and lets face it - at least if they limit their range - it does mean that those around them have a greater chance of understanding what they are saying .... Â I think Sheffield would have been a very good choice of loocation.

Steve Shovlar
Lets be honest here. If we in the south can't afford the ticket prices, the people up in the north with their ferrets and pidgeons and hankies on the heads knotted in each corner with their trousers rolled up to their ankles, shouting "ekky thump", will have to miss two rent payments, or do an extra shift, "down pit". Conkers
There aren't that many pits left up north since that Government full of Chinless Southern Softees sold the Miners down the river, Steve. As for Ferrets and Pidgeons; Knotting them in the corners then using them as headcovering, is a cruel, barbaric practice that was outlawed along with bearbaiting and cock fighting at the end of the 19th Century. You do like living very dangerously Steve. I think the correct decision has been made to use Eastbourne and Poole as both tracks will get good attendances. Can't say the same if they were held anywhere else, but what do I know? I won't be there. Edited June 27, 2004 by Gemini

Eee bah gum lad  You've a lot of learning to do  We made your friend Jason well at home when he came up - Jamie let him try on his flat cap, SR lent him her cloggs and I let him stroke my ferret.  And and as you know afterwards the others kept him company at his hotel until the early hours  Now that's a warm welcome for you.   and Rich Tea - there are a number of ways of measuring wealth - perhaps you only know one of them

Steve Shovlar
Glad my post was taken in the spirit it was meant. Â I went to the Sheffield round of the WTC a couple of years ago and the crowd was good, the racing good, the weather terrible. We left a sunny south and by the time we got near Sheffield it was heavy shower dodging time. The worst of the showers missed until the last third of the meeting, when it ruined what would have been a great Team GB win. Â On returning south the roads were bone dry and we never had any of the weather Sheffield got. Â Now I am not saying that we will have a dry week. But the chances are better than the weather up north. Â The fans who travel from Poland, Sweden, Denmark and other countires will not want to go to Sheffield, lets be honest. It's an industrial town that doesn't really cater for tourists. Poole on the other hand is set up for tourism. Today my wife and I went down to Poole Quay to push the pram about, and it was beautiful. Palm trees, pubs all open and busy, the warm sun shining, pleasure boats taking people around the harbour and to Swanage etc. You could have been in any country in the Med. fans will love it and that's why Benfield have chosen the south coast. It has nothing to do with Terry Russell. It was a sensible legistical decision. Good road and rail access, plenty of accomodation, nightlife and the chance of better weather. Gemini
Must agree with all that. I love going round the Poole area for our holidays. In fact we are going again in July, after a week on the Isle of Wight. Looking forward to a trip to Weymouth Speedway this time as well. Anyone know what night they ride? We will be in the area from July 17th to 24th.
Robbo
Have to agree with Steve. Â Went to Poole for 2 days in 2003 to take in the Newport-Poole BLC meeting and I have to say it is a great town .Loads of nice pubs right on the bay where you can have a drink and the town centre is great. Â The houses are lovley espicially Middlos! . Â Poole is the best place to stage it for sure with the lovley weather, shops, houses and not to forgot the great stadium . Jive
and getting back on topic The advert is being well plugged in every speedway break, we'd all moan if there wasn't anything on and it does come across as a carnival. I personally would love to see SWC run the same week as Cardiff GP with the SGP on the Saturday and the SWC final on the sunday what a weekend it would be Not sure my wallet would cope though  PS Yep I love Poole to great place! Gemini
Thank you. I'm sure I have read somewhere that a match has been arranged for Tuesday the 20th, but I can't find it now. Does that mean there will be two meetings that week? Sounds good to me!
