Thanks Lioness. Gave me another picture of an Irishman then. lol Yep, we were having a great time. Especially in the heat where KB an PUK made a pair-ride against a couple of swedes, it was actually TRick and Max. That was great racing. We were sitting just in the middle, between the first and the second bend. Primarely because we had a disabled in wheel-chair with us (KB's grand dad). But we could not hear/understand a word of what was said in the speakers. It was fun, and my first GP at all. My voice was so worn down that even a frog could do it better than I. Now I'm looking forward to the GP qualification final on the 14th of August in Vojens. Will be a great meeting too. Guest FastGater
I think Denmark could be dark horses in the 100m in Athens. I'm gonna put my money on a Pedersen N. after the way he moved! Fair play, credit where credits due and all that. I would also be happy if I got to go back to the pits and kiss his girlfriend! Did anyone notice Crumps "Pedersen" at the start of the final? Talk about a right turn!

Guest FastGater
Yeah sorry, was watching the meeting at high speed and all the heats began to blur into one! Is it still a rule that you have to stay straight for so many yards? My dad seems to think it is.

Gemini
Is it still a rule that you have to stay straight for so many yards? My dad seems to think it is. I think your Dad might be wrong. If he is referring to the 30 yard marker, or whatever it was called, that was just the distance a rider could be pushed if his machine failed at the start. There has never been a rule about keeping straight for so many yards, although I suppose if a rider actually bumps into another the race would be stopped by the referee. tomcat
Your absolutely right Gem.. A rider may recieve outside assistance within a 30 yard/meter distance of the start of a race. There is no rule to govern when a rider may turn. You may have seen some riders on TV actually pointing their machines towards the inside from the startline.. not a very sensible thing to do, unless you are 100% certain that you will get in front first. If not your gonna bump someone bigtime.. To add to the thread anyway.. Not a Nicki P fan in anyway, shape or form, but he gets a huge well done from me. Shows he can be a genuine sportsman and do the right thing. Now all he needs to do is carry on in the same way for the rest of his career and he'll be a huge success. Gemini
Your absolutely right Gem.. Just goes to show I have learnt something during the past 50 odd years of being a Speedway fan. I'm chuffed!
shortoi
I've just watched the final of the GP again... did anybody else notice that Crumpie leapt out of the gate and made a beeline straight into Pedersen? Haha, you know, when Nicki started charging up the home straight after he came off I truly thought that he was trying to catch up with the other riders on foot!!
