Pammie
I had a great weekend Racing was brilliant, Entertainment was brilliant, Atmosphere was brilliant, and the Fireworks were brilliant. Friday night met up with a61 to celebrate her Birthday in jumpin' Jacks that was great fun! Doing the conga round the night club totally wicked!! Saturday:- woke up to my mate snoring only had about 2 hours sleep. Mum and dad gave me my birthday card and money!!!!! got a few pressies at the hotel. Left the hotel about 1145, Started drinking at about 12 noon, met Tommy L and HLo1 in POW got bought a drink! saw Batesie and Mini, both came to say hi. Then met up with a61 and a few other friends. Met up with forum crowd at Sam's and didnt pay for a drink all afternoon, THANK YOU to everyone who bought me a birthday drink. Was nice to see old friends and meet new ones. another big thank you to a61, vicster, blaze and the hammer, and my friends who all gave me lovely pressies In the POW I didnt recognise B2BM, I have an excuse though Nick, it was my birthday and I was pissed! so I hope you can forgive me for not recognising you straight away XX During the meeting I ran right to the top of the 3rd tier to watch a few races with Matthew Wethers, Gizmo, Manxman, Gary Beaton and Barry Campbell all I can say is what a view! Gizmo and I were dancing to Greece Lightening at the end as you do! Was wicked! After the meeting went for 1 drink in POW before heading back to Sam's what a great end to a great day, met up with mates. Had a great laugh, Ended up slapping Batesie when he hurt my sunburn BUT he deserved it! Had a grand total of 4 hours sleep dunno how I made breakfast sunday morning. Got home at 930 sunday night and still recovering! All in all a fantastic weekend
Liontamer
Well, I bet had a "different" GP to all of you folks:- Got to Cardiff Friday afternoon, all settled in the B and B. Went to Newport v Newcastle Friday evening, I guess the Wasps also needed the result however the only time they were ahead in the meeting was when Kevin Little slowed down in the last heat! Got into Cardiff centre on Saturday morning and was yelled at as mum and I were walking down the main road, turned round to see Joanne Went to Sam's bar and also the POW (with a bit of wandering around the city centre in between) and met loads of lovely websliders, lovely to see you all again and also to meet nearly 20 people for the first time, even if it mainly consisted of "Hello, I'm Tigerblade" and a handshake. Unfortunately - my mum had a nosebleed as she was setting off from the B and B in the evening. As she is on Warfarin it doesn't stop bleeding as quickly as normal. We decided to go into the meeting and see the first aid, and spent about half an hour in there, and they sent us to the medical rooms below as it had been going for 90 minutes by then. It stopped once the nurse applied an ice pack and we were watching Heats 3 - 8 on the tellies in there. We went up to our seats and were enjoying the meeting - like most others have said, it seemed a much better standard of racing. Unfortunately mum's nose began spotting again before the semi's and we went down again, and this time they decided she ought to go to hospital as a precaution. So we missed the two semis and final. All was okay in the end, but we had to wait 30 minutes for an assessment, another 2 hours for the doc and another 90 minutes for the results (which in the end turned out to be fine). Cardiff Casualty is an experience on a Saturday night as you can imagine! Got back to the B and B at 3am!!!! Went to the Welsh Open, and it was the best thing we could have done in the circumstances really. Again met up with some lovely websliders. Got back home okay, but I had to pull into Strensham so's I could have a kip! From what I saw, Greg was the most impressive rider, Trick didn't look at his brilliant best, and Floppy was excellent as well. Gemma, I agree with you - if you dislike a rider fair enough, but a child won't understand and be able to ignore insults like us adults. Really sorry your GP didn't go according to plan Tb. I hope your mum is ok now. I'm glad we managed to meet up at last, & I enjoyed our little chat at Sams Bar. Best wishes, Lt xx

shazzybird
I really don't know where to start.... got to Cardiff Friday dinner time checked into the hotel and awaited the arrival of Tabby and her friend Rainbow. Went to Weatherspoons for several shandys after trying to get into practise but even bribery never worked. Back to the hotel riders staying there included Mark Loram, Chris Louis, TRick, Hans Andersen oh and not forgetting Middlo, Mr Rope & Tackle, Norrie Allen, Morgan whatshisname, Olli Can'tsayorspellhislastnameeither. Tony Briggs was sat with us in the bar too on Saturday night and Waggy ! Jason Bunnyjump was also seen in our hotel several times over the weekend and the barman told us about a party that was held in a room on the 6th floor that the manager had to be called to because of complaints, only for him to return 10mins later when he was off duty to join in and was entertained by a couple of young ladies (one being a forum member and definately not Tabby or me!) and treated to a lap dance Britney can you confirm or deny this We sat up most of the night in the bar both nights with Mr Rope & Tackle, Norrie Allen (I so like these two they say Marks name as I do!) talking drinking and putting the speedway world to rights. Watching the comings and goings of everyone in the hotel it really is good to people watch you learn so much One couple that wasn't a couple went up in the lift only for the wife and a ladyfriend go up in the other just as the couple that wasn't a couple came back down in the opposite lift (are you following this) disappear off out the door and return 45mins later with the hubby in tow....... absolutely Hilarious Rainbow got hungry and was pointed in the direction of the kitchen by our friendly barstaff to appear 5 mins later with Ryvitas, bread rolls & a fine selection of cheeses only for the night manager to comment on how we'd stolen food .....£120.00 a night I'd want more than bread and cheese to steal! When Tabby settled her bill he'd charged her room £6 for it My Dad & Thomas enjoyed the weekend as much as I did, Thomas took a shine to Rainbow (bless) whatever she asked he did, although his claim to fame in a competition with his cousin is that he made Norrie Allen coffee on Saturday morning and just couldn't wait to phone him and tell him, this was before the jammy little git got a pits pass and wandered around with his autograph book and camera getting his picture taken with riders also had a walk around the track and on the Millennium Football Pitch (to us it's a centre green but here he can tell his mates it was the football pitch!) Rico managed to upset TRick in the bar. He really didn't look impressed. I went and met a few forum members at Sams' and POW's if I've missed anyone off can you let me know before I post these onto my list. Steve Shovlar (very nice man), Addy, Krissie, FT, TT, Liontamer (awwww bless him) CrazySue, Britney Spears, Nevsy, MiniNevs, Jill, Valc, Rico, Tommy_E, Woodythebee, Tina, Trackwise, Jenny the doc, JJ (awwwwww cutie), DickieMint, Gemini, Five-one, Tigerblade, starlady, B2B, Punkydawg, Pirate, Rabbit. (I remembered that lot so I dont think I did too bad for someone on the sherbet! As I remember bits and pieces I will add to this. xx I would just like to Thank Tabby and Rainbow for making our stay in Cardiff one of the most memorable we've ever had and look forward to next year...... Thanks Girls you are true muckers! xx Edited June 15, 2004 by shazzybird
Joanne
Hope your Mum is OK now Tigerblade. I knew she had a nosebleed in the afternoon but didn't realise she was on warfarin. Strong stuff that is, I had a tooth out 2 months after coming off it and it took more than 12 hours to stop bleeding!! I didn't yell at you that loud, did I, Tigerblade. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone I met you at the Oxfam shop

britneyspears
Not sure where to start really! Arrived in Cardiff at lunchtime on friday, went for a stroll round the town centre in the lovelly sunshine, met my mum for an amaretto or two, we had a few drinks in the holiday inn before heading over to the Cottage bar to start the evenings merriment, lovelly to meet tabby rainbow and shazzybird for the first time in there, as well as bumping into addy and pammie. Ended up in Flares where i felt my age when my friends didnt recognise half the songs due to being too young! I allowed a couple of friends to crash in our room because they didnt have anywhere to stay, so the corresponding noise that came when 7 people arrived back to have a drink in one of our two hotel rooms was indeed bought to the attention of the management The manager i believe did indeed manage to forgive us and enjoy himself in the end however GP day what can i say had lunch in weatherspoons where we say Tony Hadley, retired for a nap mid afternoon (party, what party) Went for a pre gp drink in Yates, met a slightly merry Mr Shovlar (yes realise i can talk ), Just made it into the stadium for Mr Hadleys rendition of gold (brill), the atmosphere was electric, Floppy Norris is now my hero, loved the fireworks the 3 of us had a good boogie to the grease soundtrack, after the meeting we had a quick drink at the hol inn, followed by several more in Sams bar, then back to hol inn for a nightcap, saw trick slightly miffed, didnt realise that was rico though Got home mid afternoon sunday, watched the video straight away, cant wait for next year, great time was had by all (including hotel manager )

BTL
Well what a weekend we had - arrived Friday and thanks to Lioness and X-Man we went to Somerset to cheer on the Tiggers. Don't think Mrs BTL (on her first visit to speedway) was too impressed with Friday - probably due to me abandoning her and some people standing in front of her blocking the view. However Saturday was a different kettle of fish!!!! Spent all day shopping - window shopping that is; it may be kind on the wallet but my feet hurt . Didn't meet up with forum so sorry for missing all of you this year. Thought after Friday night it was a time for sooking up to "she who must be obeyed". Had a beer on the Castle Lawn, soaked up the Sun and then made our way to the Stadium, where I could see she was becoming a bit more interested in the proceedings. Taking our seats (Row 18 just in front of the gate) she stopped complaining about the cost and started enjoying the atmosphere and occasion - it's amazing what a few beers can do and I think she liked Tony Hadleigh. By the time the evening finished, she'd nicked my airhorn and was giving it welly especially when the Brits were out on track. So what about the GP - DEFINITLEY the Best by far that I've seen or been to. Anyone who missed out - my sincere condolences! (Sorry M_L - you missed out big style). Great atmosphere, track and racing were superb (my God did I see passing! - Yes!!), fireworks, presentation and entertainment were first class. After meeting walked home to digs - fell asleep. More shopping on Sunday before steeling ourselves for the Air Wales (bmibaby) ATR 60-seater twin prop white knuckle ride home. All in all - A GREAT DAY OUT. PS - Mrs BTL must have liked GP quite a bit - we're provisionally booked up again for next year.

Tigerblade
Thanks Joanne, Robyn, LT and Nevsy for your best wishes to my mum - she wasn't ill when I was talking to anyone in the afternoon, she phoned me about 5.45 whilst I was in the Prince of Wales. We would have had to find some medical help somewhere anyhow, so decided to go into the meeting and see the St. John's. She went to the docs yesterday, and he has referred her for a cauterisation, which Cardiff hozzy said they couldn't do unless it was actually bleeding at the time! Had to laugh at your "who is this Strensham bloke" question Nevs - good job Michael Wood isn't on my way home
