Recommended Posts

Please dont tell me you were sat to the left of shazzy.I thought that that was her dad :(

HER DAD!!! Cheeky %*$":!! If any mods are reading this I demand that this man is banned immediatly. Star Lady thought I was 70 odd, Rotski thought I was "an old man", & you think I'm Shazzies dad. Don't worry mate, I'll make sure I shake you warmly by the throat, er sorry I mean hand next time. :D

Seriously though, it was nice to meet you even if it was from a distance. ;)

BTW, I was chatting to Shazzie's dad in the POW, top bloke.

What a brilliant weekend. Hotel, train ride to Cardiff, and GP were all brilliant. Great to meet so many forum members, didn't see any Glasgow supporters though or Lioness  GP was alot better than last year with the entertainment being excellent. Pity a Brit didn't win it although I'm happy that Greg won it. He is such a nice guy along with Leigh (no, not boring, Steve T :) )

Bring on Cardiff 2005 :D

(Apologies for the negative tone of this post)

I took a lot of baggage to Cardiff this year, full of other people's problems.

Unfortunately I didn't cope with it very well at all.

For those I helped, I'm glad.

For those I didn't, I am truly sorry.

And for those that helped me, particularly the man who had to coax me into the stadium, thank you so much.

In the main, you lot are a lovely bunch of people. The best.

And there were plenty of enjoyable times over the day.

But personally, Cardiff 2004 goes down as a day I want to forget.

We had a great day, the best yet. I don't know any of you forum members but i'm glad you had a great time. We were a bit limited because my wife needs to have her knee replaced in the next few months, and has great difficulty walking any distance. For us though it was very special my sons girlfriend has never been to the speeway before and she loved it. We expected to have to wait in Cardiff for a long time until we could get a cab back to the Churchill hotel but as we walked to the bridge by the stadium the traffic was at a stand still and there were three taxis in the traffic and to my amazement my son asked the nearest taxi driver if he could take us back and he did, so we were back in the hotel bar with in half an hour. It was one of those days when everything clicked into place wonderfully.

My wife and i have everything in place to go to Bydgosh in September but it may clash with her operation or recovery, it does not really matter now we have Cardiff to look back on, and hopefully there is always next year.

PS was that Shazzybird standing next to JJ in the Bar in Sams?

Chances are that was Jenny the Doc I was talking to Jason Bunnyjump at the bar

You were doing what ?

Have I taught you nothing girl ?

I am shocked and ashamed that you spoke with him, especially after I had said that I was going to have to kill him if I saw him once more over the weekend!

I was drunk gagging for another beer and he was there  he probably never understood what I was saying anyway, just wish the barman from our hotel had told us a little earlier what he said about the party on the 6th floor, I could of had a bit of fun ribbing him over that :approve::lol:

I hadn't been to a GP for 3 years, so I was very excited about this one.

I went with my mum, dad and 3 friends. We left at 4pm on Friday, and drove to Porthcawl, where we had a caravan at Trecco Bay, right on the beach, which was great. After having a huge breakfast saturday morning, we left for Cardiff. Got the local bus which took an hour and a half, which wasn't too bad.

Went for a walk around Cardiff for a while, then went to Sams to meet some others we were going with, (there were 21 of us at the caravan park, plus a few Poole fans), had a few drinks there, then moved on to get something to eat.

Found Mark Loram standing outside 'Ask' having a drink, wished him luck, to then watch Dean Barker come flying round the corner, jump on to Mark and give him the biggest hug. We are Arena fans, so that made my day, team spirit eh.

After dinner, walked to the stadium, got to our seats, 4th bend, 2nd tier, fourth row up. Great seats, but it did make it hard to see who got over the finish line first when it was a close one. We had Leigh Lanham, Jason and Daniel King and their army in the box behind us. It was great to see Leighs reaction when Mark won a heat. Fantastic, again great team spirit from Arena.

The day was fantastic, great meeting, great atmosphere, and our guys done us proud. Unfortunately didn't stay for the fireworks, we had to catch the last bus back to Porthcawl. Got back in at 12:30. Left the next day at 1:30 after a walk in the sun on the beach. I would definately recommend anybody to stay where we stayed. Saves the long journey in one day, and is so much cheaper than a hotel, cost us £25 each, and if your lucky enough with the weather, you can spend some time on a nice beach. Great Weekend.

One thing we did notice, was that everyone seemed to be laughing at us. They take one look at the Arena shirts and either just smiled or laughed.

Thought Cardiff was fantastic, the best British GP in ages. Arrived around lunchtime, headed straight for our camp site and enjoyed a lazy afternoon in the sun with a bottle (or two!) of wine and a big BBQ.

Walked to the stadium around 5.30 and bumped into a few people milling around outside the stadium. Had great seats on the 2nd bend (£40 tickets were worth it after all!) just in front of the Sky studio.

Racing was fantastic and the crowd were amazing. Well, most of the crowd. We were unfortunate to have a group of men about 8 rows in front that hopefully weren't regular speedway fans - they were abusive and drunk and at the end of the meeting the security guard was actually assulted by these guys. Well done to the fans that went to his aid, he came back on duty so was obviously not too shaken up. I think it was the same group that was involved in the trouble in Yates after the meeting. First time I've ever seen trouble at a meeting (except for on the track or in the pits!) and it left a bad taste in the mouth.

Anyway, roll on next year - bigger and better!! Does anybody know an official attendance figure for the meeting?

Great weekend in Cardiff.

However, the lady we were sitting next to managed to almost ruin the entire meeting for my sister at least. She is only a child and a big fan of Nicki Pedersen. I don't give a monkeys how much people loathe him, you DO NOT tell a child, who is a supporter of him, that you hope somebody knocks him off and he gets hurt.

But apart from that, fantastic meeting and a fantastic weekend in Cardiff.

Roll on next year!

Well, I bet had a "different" GP to all of you folks:-

Got to Cardiff Friday afternoon, all settled in the B and B.

Went to Newport v Newcastle Friday evening, I guess the Wasps also needed the result however the only time they were ahead in the meeting was when Kevin Little slowed down in the last heat!

Got into Cardiff centre on Saturday morning and was yelled at as mum and I were walking down the main road, turned round to see Joanne :D

Went to Sam's bar and also the POW (with a bit of wandering around the city centre in between) and met loads of lovely websliders, lovely to see you all again and also to meet nearly 20 people for the first time, even if it mainly consisted of "Hello, I'm Tigerblade" and a handshake.

Unfortunately - my mum had a nosebleed as she was setting off from the B and B in the evening. As she is on Warfarin it doesn't stop bleeding as quickly as normal. We decided to go into the meeting and see the first aid, and spent about half an hour in there, and they sent us to the medical rooms below as it had been going for 90 minutes by then. It stopped once the nurse applied an ice pack and we were watching Heats 3 - 8 on the tellies in there. We went up to our seats and were enjoying the meeting - like most others have said, it seemed a much better standard of racing. Unfortunately mum's nose began spotting again before the semi's and we went down again, and this time they decided she ought to go to hospital as a precaution. So we missed the two semis and final.

All was okay in the end, but we had to wait 30 minutes for an assessment, another 2 hours for the doc and another 90 minutes for the results (which in the end turned out to be fine). Cardiff Casualty is an experience on a Saturday night as you can imagine! Got back to the B and B at 3am!!!!

Went to the Welsh Open, and it was the best thing we could have done in the circumstances really. Again met up with some lovely websliders. Got back home okay, but I had to pull into Strensham so's I could have a kip!

From what I saw, Greg was the most impressive rider, Trick didn't look at his brilliant best, and Floppy was excellent as well. Gemma, I agree with you - if you dislike a rider fair enough, but a child won't understand and be able to ignore insults like us adults.
