SCB
Cheering at a British GP surrounded by 40,000 plus British fans when a British rider comes off his bike ? Either incredibly brave or very stupid, haven't worked out which yet !! It's the British, sorry, English way. I can't imagine the Ausies cheering when one of there riders fall off, or the Swedes, Poles or Danes. The Enlish have tried to get all patriotic with there 'tat' sticking out of there cars for the European Championship but it's all a show. Guest cheetahhawk
Well, i absolutley hate Lee and will NEVER cheer for him...So i would say, it was abit off both, That makes two of us then Jess 'cos I don't like him either, didn't like his Dad when he was riding either. My GP day was really good apart from the fact I had a thumping headache just before the meeting started but once the racing began I kinda forgot the silly old headache. Can't say I enjoyed the pre meeting entertainment much but I think that was down to the lousy loudspeakers where we were(top tier 4th bend in the green seats) The racing was good and the end result made it a brilliant day for us ,Well done Greg. I didn't meet up with any forum folk other than my own familyand Jemma from Oxford but was in contact with Addy during the meeting, she was at the opposite end of the stadium to us. We had Sam Martin and Christopher Bint and their Dads on our coach so I suppose I could say I did meet a few forum members( Sam's dad is Marty on here and Christophers dad is Christophers Dad on here). I've woken up this morning with a very sore throat, too much shouting all weekand there's still Eastbourne to come tomorrow .Think I better get back to work so I can have rest from all this shouting and cheering. Dave the Mic
Had an fantastic day at Cardiff. So many positive points from a brilliant event. Firstly well done to Greg on Winning. Secondly, what a fantastic performance from Lee Richardson to get on the rostrum, it would seem he is the latest rider to make "the step up" - well done sir! Thirdly, how great was Floppy? He should be in every GP on that showing. Brilliant third to firts in his first race, a fantastic cut back to leave Trick in his wake & fighting every inch of the way in all his other races. And such a great guy. Fourthly, a good "one off" track & just THE most amazing atmosphere. Unbelievable! Fifthly, well done to all the English riders - they did us so proud on the night, fighting every inch of the way every time they were on track. Moving on, "themanwidtheplan" - get a life! Hancock, dirty? I think you must have been mistaking him with some Danish guy called Pedersen. Finally, to the idiot sat next to me & the rest of you who cheered when Lee Richardson slid off on the first bend. I hope he finished ahead of your favourites. If that was the case - you got what you deserved - two fingers from England's current number one.
Guest SwineTown
How good was that?!! Best one yet. Best track yet. Best atmosphere yet. Even Tony hadley was a good choice (altogether now..."my...my....MY...Delilah!!" All brits acquited themselves admirably, but....FLOPPY!!?!!?! Well done - that should have silenced the sniffers. Shame he can't get another chance this season. Hancock deserved to win but thought Leigh had him on last corner for a bit. Nicki dirty and Hans joined him - got their just desserts the pair of em - dirty little blighters. Roll on next year.

gooner_girl4eva
Well I thoroughly enjoyed my day in Cardiff. Any idea on what the actual attendance was as I didnt hear it announced anywhere? I thought the atmosphere was great, helped having 5 Brits who all done a good job. Thought they played good music to get the crowd going at the beginning and loved the riders entrance at the beginning It was the first GP I have been at where the riders done an autograph session and I spoke to the man in charge of it all and asked who was expected to attend and he listed Nicholls, Loram, Richardson, Pedersen, Rickardsson & Crump. However, when the riders turned up to meet the fans before-hand Scotty and Mark weren't there and lots of people asked this man in charge why they hadn't come and he said they had thought better of it! I personally think thats extremely rude when its your home GP when you have thousands of fans come to cheer you on, and they can't even spare 15mins to meet their loyal public Fair play to Sullivan who turned up instead and also to Richardson who was the only Brit who kept his word, glad he was the one that had the best performance overall of the brits. Thought Hans was out of order in the race with Holta, you could see it coming though and he is DEFINITELY the most dangerous rider in the GP. Thought Floppy was just incredible, so pleased for him and hope we see him in another gp again soon. Very happy for Rico to make the final and finish on the rostrum, well deserved and good on Hancock for the win- especially since I had bet on him Good to see another different winner of each round this season, the championship is so close now! Roll on Denmark here I come
The Grim Reaper
Not a bad meeting although I thought Nikki Pedersen was unlucky to be on the wrong end of a couple of questionable riding tactics yet again. It seems to me that the other riders have a vendetta against him. Norris did ok but he had a couple of points gifted to him when other riders made mistakes. Guest comet
Not able to go but did anyone else watch the fanzone commentary on sky interactiive it was superb, Havvy, stoney sean wilson among others entertaining or what the racing was almost second place good as it was, well done fellas
Steve Shovlar
Left Dorset at 11.30 and decided rather than to drive to Newport and get the train we would head into Cardiff and park up. Found it very simple and parked only half a mile from the stadium. The place was buzzing when we arrived, and after something to eat we headed to sam's Bar, where we met quite a few forum members. A few budweisers later we headed to Yates, and had a chat with Havvy and Sean wilson. Entering the stadium it was obvious straight away the crowd was the biggest yet, with tier 3 the busiest yet. Not sure what the officail attendance is but certainly heading in the right direction! Tony hadley was good, but the other girl I had never heard of. The best bit was to see if she was going to pop out of that top! The racing was the best yet at cardiff, and a great GP. the Brits all did well, and well done to richardson for making the rostrum. If he had managed to get through down the back straight he could have won it. The fireworks were excellent, and no one wanted to leave the place. back at the car we were quickly on the M4 and home by 12.50 am. Great stuff and can't wait for next year. eMz
Well Cardiff was great!! I got there about 11, spent ages shopping!! lol! Then trecked on down to the walkabout pub where i met up with loadsa people !! lol mentioning no names ( sure people who know me well can guess ) I then made my way to the stadium.. sat up on the top tier... buts its all good cause it ent a bad view, also had Jason Crumps auntie next to me jumping up and down with excitement every time he was out !! There was a whole row spare behind me so i invited two of my mates up to join me... suprised the secruity men didn't check their tickets but never mind! It was funny though, one mate was polish and the other austrailan, both with their own countries flags! Oh the rivalry! Good racing though and nice firework display.... was i the only one dancing to Grease though?! Edited June 13, 2004 by eMz
Brightonbob
My first GP.... Oh the wasted years of never going before,of only thinking football mattered, What a complete mug I've been! I'm not that thick, but if I sat here all week I couldn't put into words how much I enjoyed yesterday. I work on big events (some bigger than last night) and hats off, because that was brilliant entertainment. Truly staggering. Now lets get one thing straight. I believe Dave Norris (I remember being a near lone voice supporter when he was picked for last years SWC) is some kind of superstar. I support Eastbourne and Dave really and have done since my first meeting just 2 years ago. So it clouds my judgement I admit, but for me he stole the whole show. When he won heat 2 I thought the roof would come off, when he beat Rickardsson I think it probably did. But race-to-race it was superb, The track was magnificent, the racing of total and absolute quality. Nobody was missing, all roles played. I took someone who had never been to speedway before (a serious F1 fan) who could hardly speak afterwards and didn't stop reliving it until we arrived home at 2am. Truly wonderful. Thanks for all concerned. Speedway. The best kept secret in world sport? Not for much longerI reckon. Guest Sir Lunchalot
Bob, any chance of your F1 mate knocking up something for you to post on here ? I'd love to read an "outsiders" view on his first time at a GP seeing he enjoyed it and especially because he is an F1 fan and could say what he preferred about speedway over F1. I'm always interested to know what it is that hooks new fans. I know what it was for me the first time I ever went but I love to hear other views. Liontamer
A fantastic meeting, the fireworks get better every year, met up with a lot of forum members again, & many for the first time. Sat next to Shazzybird during the meeting & she, like all the other members I met for the first time was really nice. Most of the day was enjoyable, although I was very pleased to see my bed after arriving home at 2:30am. Trust me folks, it didn't take much rocking to get me off to sleep. Well done to all the British lads, especially David Norris who looked so fast all evening, & of course congratulations to Greg. Fantastic meeting, great entertainment, good company, & scorching hot sunshine, can it get any better? PS, apologies to those members who I didn't get properly introduced to (Nevsy was one), it wasn't down to ignorance, it's just that I'm naturally a bit quiet. Oh & apologies also to those forum members who's sex I got completely wrong before. Finally, on bahalf of the Lt travelling roadshow, sorry if anyone was upset during the course of the evening. Cheers guys. Edited June 13, 2004 by Liontamer
Nevs
Forum members met so far thread following Cardiff---- Its getting a bit like Forum version of trainspotting isnt it So wanted to take me notebook out to make sure I didnt miss anyone but Mini Nevs thought that would look a tad "uncool"- Still got me Stoneleigh notes though- so will try and update this week after seeing who else met who. Apart from chasing TWO ice cream vans that were stopped at traffic lights in a seemingly endless quest for Nobbly Bobblies for Mini Nevs the hilight of the day just had to be sat between False Blade and TigerDawn whilst one of them recounted the tale of seeing an ice cream van on a ramp in Kwick Fit last week.--Couldnt tell you which one it was though. (Forum member not ice cream van) Also the free WKD blue that headed Jills way when the barman had already given her one. Most embarrasing moment--pointing to Addy-Nevsy isnt it?-yeah giving her a hug and saying its you at last--Lioness Knew her face was familiar--met at Stoneleigh Didnt get Full throttle and Sussex bulldog mixed up--just chatted away happily till he said Im full throttle I intend to buy one of those memory self improve 12 cd sets they sell on QVC real soon or else get a PA to attend all Forum meet ups with me to take notes. beesboybert
In a word - AWESOME! Got to Cardiff around 10 o clock, went round the town for a while and saw the funniest thing ever. Went to Prince of Wales around 1ish for a couple before deciding to buy a fottball and have a game of football tennis at the castle. Got to Sam's bar around 3:15, met a lot of forum members i hadn't seen, or in some cases, even heard of before. Signed the forum banner as well Watched the first half of the Portugal vs Greece game in the Oz bar before getting into my seats around 6 o clock. Tony Hadley was very good, a couple of classics to sing along to. Meeting was quite possibly one of the best i have ever been to. Added bonus was the fact that i had put a pound each way on both Greg and Ricco Only disappointment of the day was Javine, surely they could have got someone better than her. Bring on Cardiff 2005!!!!
born_2b_mad
Also the free WKD blue that headed Jills way when the barman had already given her one. That was mine!!!! Well pammie's actually!!
Star Lady
I had a wonderful day. Collected the tickets, then had a cooked brekkie to line the stomach heard a military band (I have a bit of a thing about them) so followed them up St Marys St to the Castle, where we found there was a ceremony for the Queens birthday. Met a very nice regimental goat called Shenkin(sp) who would have made a great playmate for Pawprint . Watched the gun salute then wandered in to a couple of pubs as we made our way to Sams Bar. Arrived about 90 minutes early but it was far too hot to walk about so we stayed. Great afternoon meeting everyone, apologies for anything I said or did, it wasn't me it was the bacardi, honest. Strolled to the stadium, got lost, ended up in hospitality, was redirected. Found ourselves sitting near Carlos Villar. I liked Tony Hadley after the first couple of songs anyway, and Delilah was great. We were in an air horn free zone (we didn't request it, just happened that way) and believe me it made no ruddy difference at all) I waved a paw of a stuffed black labrador at a couple of Heddlu, much to their amusement, then started to sober up in time for the racing . Thought the racing was pretty good really and the whole presentation much better than last year, except the announcing (see Congrats Sam thread), the parade of Harleys was great, and the fireworks at the end were absolutely brilliant (and I hate fireworks). Only had to wait 5 mins for a taxi afterwards Rooms already booked for next year Edited June 13, 2004 by Star Lady
