Steve- if my memory serves me right, just a week or so before this meeting we nearly lost at home to Exeter. Verners and Dryml's had Tommy Knudsen in particular, more off his bike than on it. Tommy seemed injured in one of the later heats, being carried from the track on a stretcher. The lord and master Ole strode out to the track, said something to Tommy, who then got off the stretcher and walked back to the pits(quite gingerly though) Tommy came out and won the re-run and Coventry went on to win the meeting 40-38 in a last heat decider, won by O.O. of course(who else) What memories, and what t.v. those meetings would have made. My husband used to be has keen as me, but hasn't bothered with speedway for years(rules etc.) He doesn't even bother to watch it on sky either, not even Coventry, but if he does see a bit, it always amuses him to hear the sky presenters saying what a fantastic meeting it is that they are showing and the racing is brilliant.

Did I not see Pedersen come from gate 1 right across to gate 4 nearly out of the first bend and take A.J. down. How can you be a disgrace when you are minding your own business and have not moved off your line at all and some idiot comes right across and takes you off. I might be missing something, but how did this stop Bjarne Pedersen from winning his first G.P?

I see from the press release from Sweden that SVEMO have accepted full responsibilty for last nights track and the job of track preperation for the re-staging has been given to race director Ole Olsen and his team after doing such a good job of laying the track in Copenhagen for the G.P. there. I don't know why people are so keen to jump on the, off with Olsen's head band wagon, do you seriously think that he would want a track like that, and if so, why. The track at Vojens for the WTC was bad as well, but speedway is not held there anymore. Did anyone complain about Vojens when it was reguarly in use staging many meetings including G.P.'s, the track was prepared by Ole then too. He has been preparing the track at Cardiiff, has that not improved surface wise.? As far as I am aware he is not in charge of track preperation for every G.P., some federations choose to do it themselves. There is more to the job of race director than just track work.
