  1. Coventry programme recently had a piece about Ron who was my favourite rider at Brandon in the late 60's, 70's. It said he had heart problems.
  2. Excellent crowd last night and very vocal, proving that people will travel, even on a week day night. The track was very different to normal, we were worried when we saw Colin Meredith out there, the racing did get better, especially good from those riders willing to chase the dirt. Bomber and Scott were a bit too close to that fence for comfort at times though. Too many heats for my liking and it tends to drag a bit. The Russians were good value and I was very surprised with Jonas, rode some very good races. Billy was poor, although felt he was unfairly excluded and was cut up a bit in another, still should have scored better though. Good to see Scott getting back to his old self. Overall a good team effort from G.B. but let's not get too carried away. A full Swedish team would have pushed us very hard and the less than grippy track obviously suited Kennett & Lee more. It will be very interesting to see how we perform on Saturday, when we come up against 3 good teams.
  3. Bit of bias here I think, Kennett is very poor at Coventry and has yet to have a good meeting there, whereas Howe has always ridden the track very well. Wrong decision in my opinion.
  4. Well done Bomber, what a brilliant night and so typical of him to leave us like nervous wrecks and to the win on the line like he did! Proud to be a Brit and even more so to be a Coventry Brit! This is the sort of action we see week in week out from him but to pull it off under that sort of pressure is just amazing. Nice to see Crump and Hancock showing such genuine gestures towards him. Was really glad to see Scott performing well again. He battled away and gave it his all. He was worth more points than he ended up with and yet again was unlucky in another Cardiff semi final.
  5. Well done Bomber, brilliant performance, we knew you would not be disgraced in the G.P.'s but 3rd. already is just fantastic. A Brit and a Bee, great.
  6. As posted what seems like 100's of pages ago, 2 British Bees in next years G.P.'s, great stuff. The undisputed British Number 1 and the battling, never give up, exciting Bomber. Will be right behind the Brits, as usual, and also looking forward to admiring once again, the thrilling riding skills of my non-British favourite, A.J.
  7. But he does go to work and risks his life every time he does.
  8. Different thread, but the same old rubbish. Somebody with too much time on their hands, obviously.
  9. I don't consider Scott to be inept and it doesn't bother me one bit whether he is in as a wild card or not. My main interest is in team racing and Scott has had some fantastic races home and away since he has been at Coventry and only a very short sighted person would doubt his ability on a bike. But when it comes to a G.P. I will cheer on a Brit and at the moment the only man for the job is Scott, no one else even comes close. Obviously you have a problem with the rider, what started out as a thread about Scott apparently not shaking Andersen's hand you have turned into abuse about the man himself.
  10. Friday's insert in Coventry programme, Oaksy says the clever money is on 2 British Bees in 2007 G.P. Scott a near definate and Bomber a strong possibilty.
  11. I can just see Cardiff now, all the Danish flags etc. held high, not a British one in sight.
  12. And which British rider would you put in then? Didn't realise I thought he was princely, royalty at Coventry. Oh well I always knew we were special.
  13. I know Scott wanted to qualify by right, which he would have done without his injury anyway, but were does he say he would not except the wild card if he had to? A G.P. without a Brit, I don't think so, do you? We have a shortage of top class British riders, so why leave out our undisputed number 1?
  14. I'm glad that Heffer has found his form in individual meetings towards the end of the season, but as long as Smoli keeps banging in the scores for his team over here, where my interest lies, I'll be more than happy.
  15. A huge well done to AJ on his win. He produced some magnificent overtakes, hanging off the bike out in the dirt, in difficult conditions and was a very deserved winner, reminding all us Cov fans of what we are still missing. It's took a while to gain his first win but hopefully now he's done it once, others will follow. Nice to see a rider so over the moon afterwards and getting so excited in true AJ style. Hope he can go on to make the top 3, as I think he deserves it.
  16. This is exactly what I mean. I love watching A.J. ride, along with Joonas and Seb, but it doesn't mean I want Sweden or whoever to win over my own Country. Have some pride for God's sake. We must be the only Country daft enough to cheer others riders to beat our own. Of course the British riders don't mind, I bet they love to hear home supporters cheering on Hans.
  17. I bet Scott and the G.B. lads are thrilled to bits that loads of Briitish people choose to support other nations instead of their own. Perhaps if more got behind their own country instead of waving Danish or whoevers flags things might just be different. Would you have a Dane, Swede, Aussie etc. cheering on the Brits, I don't think so, they have more pride and passion for their own country.
  18. That didn't happen very often though, did it? Can't believe all the British Hans lovers on here. Of course he and his mates can do no wrong can they, and can never be accused of gamesmanship.
  19. Exactly right. Whilst I don't condone the throwing of bottles etc. just what reaction did Andersen and Pedersen really expect.
  20. Congratulations to Scott. No one who has seen him ride this season can deny he is a class act and a terrific Captain and team man. Notice he won the trophy for Rider of the Year as voted for by the Referees this season. Obviously he impressed them to, with some breathtaking overtakes. Personally I would much rather see him ride like that week in and week out for Coventry, I prefer team riding anyday. I know though how much the G.P.'s mean to him and I think he has over tried at times this year. There is no doubt he fully deserves his place next year, he needs to gate better in that company, were it can be won and lost on the 1st.bend. Having said that it's much more exciting when he misses the gate, and that has happened in an awful lot of league matches this season, his ability on a bike is fantastic. I know which I would rather pay my money to watch.
  21. Thought Hans showed great maturity last night, after all the fiasco of Poole, he did his talking were it matters, on the track. True to form, in the studio Havelock just can't leave anything alone and had to keep making his little snidey comments. The gobsmacked, speechless looks on his and Louis faces after the final heat were classics.
  22. Seen some hard riding over the years, but I thought Crump's actions last night were very foolish. He was riding well enough and surely there was no need for those sort of tactics. He was rightly excluded but how would he be be feeling today if he had gone out in his next heat with an e.f. or tapes exclusion, after that mindless kick. How nice it was last night to see riders still able to race hard but fair, Rickardsson v's Hancock and Hancock v's Jonsson. Good entertainment with a bit of respect for each other, and nobody hitting the deck.
  23. Hands off, Poole. AJ is ours and we're not letting him go!!!!!
  24. Well done A.J. a place on the rostrum at last, lets hope this is the first of many now.
  25. See from local paper that a thief stole from A.J. on Saturday, taking his passport, credit cards money and flight tickets.
