  1. As many defence lawyers have put forward when a celebrity has been charged with drink driving.
  2. So, in essence, the paramedic was behaving erratically. One of the riders refused treatment from said paramedic because he looked drunk. The paramedic then collapsed. Richard Lawson tweeted that the paramedic was drunk. In America, they have a saying - "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then the chances are, it's a duck". Good job this didn't happen in Newcastle as all the Berwick supported would have been up in arms about it, blaming the track and everything. I guess you reap what you sow.
  3. To correct your quote, it should be "You twist and turn like a twisty turny thing" Blackadder II - Beer. Nobody likes a pedant
  4. Has anybody considered suing the Peterborough Speedway for loss of revenue? Demanding money back and expenses? Go via the small claims court and represent yourself. At least you'd get answers
  5. What would a speedway team want with a turnip?
  6. So what you are saying is that for the weather forecast on Sunday, we should watch countryfile on Sunday evening. I reckon I could possibly do a fair to middling weather forecast myself of Sunday if I were to transmit it on Sunday evening
  7. Paulco - it's always good when a supporter can recognise when they were genuinely beaten, rather than blame it on bad luck / poor track / poor refereeing / etc. If all sides did the same and looked at themselves following a defeat and tried to work out why it went wrong and how they could be better next time I am sure they would be much better because of it. As Edinburgh are a "local" rival of the Diamonds and also have a similar track (which results in close scores) I sincerely hope the Monarchs continue to provide such excellent matches and I hope we actually win at home this time
  8. Going from the hilarious text updates, I thought it was a shocking performance where one of the Newcastle Riders knocked of an opponent's chain with their back wheel on purpose. Followed by an appalling refereeing decision when a rider at the tapes left despite their only being 30 seconds to go. Makes it all worthwhile
  9. Since the only opinion I put forward is that you are a right whiner, then I suspected you wouldn't respect my opinion.
  10. Real fans appreciate that others may not be able to attend all meetings, especially with real life. It does yourself no credit to claim that anybody who wasn't there can't have an opinion.
  11. Brilliant. Basking in the glow of a good victory with a nice glass of wine. Unfortunately it appears your wine is a bit off, though. There's a distinct aura of sour grapes.
  12. It's one of sports undying qualities that after a relatively close meeting where both teams could have won that the losing supporters blame luck, cheating, circumstance and, typically, their own team's poor form. It's always difficult to win away from home in Speedway, to do so you have thoroughly deserved it. I note the same thing is happening on the Leicester v Somerset thread.
  13. It's sunny in Manchester, therefore it _must_ be sunny everywhere else. Yesterday, was the longest (and stickiest) day of the year. Suffice to say I went to sleep with the sounds of driving rain....
  14. To quote the rule in full Therefore, at the time of declaration Ludvig would have given absolute priority to British Speedway Fixtures. But at the time that the fixture was re-arranged according to the letter of the rule above then he needn't give absolute priority as Newcastle aren't (re) declaring their team. It is also clearly Wolves who would have to drop Lindgren as if Ludvig were unable to ride for Newcastle he wouldn't "be in a Premier League's currently Declared 1-7". Secondly, I'd argue that the rule above would break EU trading laws as it is clearly a restriction on a person's right to trade and would therefore be considered illegal if challenged. Thirdly, simply stating "FACT" after your statement does not make it true. Bit of a dogs dinner isn't it? just to clarify the bit about speeding, travelling at 71mph you would not get convicted due to the innacuracy of the recording equipment. That is why they have a tolerance of 10% +2, so you have to be travelling at 80mph (i.e. above 79mph) on a 70mph to actually get convicted. Edited due to automated thing which transfers b ) to
  15. Pearson said he was _initially_ signed on a one month loan. I think he then said it had been extended. when "pretty but dim" interviewed him he said he signed for Berwick because one meeting a week in the Elite League wasn't enough.
  16. If anything, Paul Starke going down seemed to spur on Newcastle. The phrases "Epic Failure" and "Shooting yourself in the foot" spring to mind. Nice to hear unequivocal condemnation from Chris Louis though. Wonder what Kelvin would have said.... Interesting to hear Richie talking about the atmosphere in the pits being a bit quiet, even at that stage it was still close. Not a bad meeting, but unfortunate that easily the best heat of the night in heat 13 was cut short because Kozza went to hot into the slick part of the bend.
  17. Here's what you should have said to my original question: Blobby, Blobby, Blobby.... All tongue in cheek of course
  18. Thanks for the deep and thoughtful insight there Mr Blobby I now know exactly why there were no wins from gate one Although, what can one expect from Mr Blobby? Does this mean I can now expect a bucket of goo to be deposited on my head?
  19. I only followed the match on the excellent Newcastle Live Updates, but it was noticeable that there were no heat wins from gate one and (from memory) eight from gate four. Anybody who was there got any views? Not meant to be a criticism about Glasgow's track, just a query as there have been people following both teams who have said how fair the track was and how it was possible to pass and it seems a bit strange!
  20. Which is entirely wrong When the green lights are initially turned on they will be under the Starting Marshall's orders. i.e. stationary. If they move at this point then the referee should exclude that rider for not following the Starting Marshall's instructions. The rider is only allowed to move once the tapes have risen. Normally, the ref's bottle it and just give the rider a "warning" for moving at the starts. The clever ones wait until the rider who is moving has to stop to avoid touching the tapes and then raise the tapes. This is a natural way of keeping the riders stationary. The referee is under no compunction to release the tapes at any time and theoretically could keep the riders their for a minute until he releases the tapes. The only requirement is a minimum of 1 and a 1/4 seconds until the tapes rise I believe.
  21. And here was me thinking that a rider must be stationary at the start. 15.3.2 "Once satisfied all Riders are correctly positioned, their motorcycles stationary and the rear wheel in contact with the track surface"
