  1. To be honest, it was just about sustainable, on the 500s, we were getting, at the end of the Havelock era. Obviously sometimes it was more and sometimes it was less. Everything is so upbeat now, totally different, a breath of fresh air really.
  2. Sorrry Boz, but have to disagree with you about Ellis Perks. He has been slowly descending, since coming out of the reserve berth. His home form has slightly declined, but his away form has been poor and he hasn't ridden, at some of the tougher venues, (Sheffield 0 matches, Ipswich 0 matches Glasgow 1match, Newcastle 1 match ). Overall, I think his home form would have to be outstanding, to compensate for his away performances and it isn't. Riders I would be looking at in his role would be Jye Etheridge or Jacob Bukhave., or maybe Paul Starke if you were putting together a strength in depth team. To me, he just looked like he was going slowly backwards, but hey just my opinion.
  3. Have to agree with that, would also say "thanks but no thanks", to Ellis Perks and Danny Ayres. Purely my opinion on that.
  4. Sadly that is not the original silver helmet and I do not have a picture of it.
  5. Allegedly it is the oldest prize in speedway. that was how it was always promoted. How true it is I don't know, but it is a very old piece of kit. In the style of the very first riders.
  6. It's a very different silver helmet. It was first raced for in 1928. The actual helmet has been missing since the early 1990's. It possibly went overseas.
  7. Actually, I thought the Monarchs, were a little unlucky, in this one. This should have been an even closer contest. Ricky Wells fall while leading and Erik Riss's ef whilst also leading did Embro no favours. Plus Pickering and Davey deserved better returns for their efforts. However, the Monarchs did benefit, from the tactical ride and Proctors fall in ht 13 which prevented a Bears 5 _ 1. The rerun yielded a Bears 4 _ 2. All in all a good speedway match.
  8. I think this one will be another gate fest and with Lawson, Summers, Worrall and Lunna, I can only see one winner.
  9. I have to say. This was one of the most unentertaining meetings, I have seen at Redcar. Virtually every race was over by bend 2. I take nothing away from Sheffield, their top 3 were great, but once the leader got out in the dirt line, it was race over, (unless you make an error of judgement like Garrity). I think the time has come, for the banking to be seriously reduced and hopefully create more racing lines.
  10. It makes things very interesting. Lawson will do a good job for Sheffield, but the real strength of the side, is the way Bates, Kurtz, Howarth and Graversen ride Redcar. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be. Well.
  11. Maybe Sheffield get slightly the better deal, out of R/R. For Redcar, Wright, Perks, Busch and Ayres, are eligible to get a ride. For Sheffield, its Howarth, Bates, Kurtz and Graversen. Given how well, the Sheffield team go round Redcar, (I don't think Wood has been here before), I don't think Sheffield will miss Lasse Bjerre. On the other hand, Redcar will most certainly miss Jonas B Anderson.
  12. At Redcar, (aswell as Newcastle and Berwick). We listen to him every week and he is extremely well appreciated there. The only decent thing Havelock did, in his time there, was to get Roy on board.
  13. Somebody suggested him on an earlier thread., I knew Glasgow didn't have a match and I fully expected Ged to book Lunna, after his previous performance for him. So never looked to see if Bewley was otherwise involved, but thanks for mentioning it.
  14. Watching his average won't be good for his bank balance.
  15. He would always have been my shout. Goes well around Redcar. I hoped Ged wouldn't pick him and maybe go for Bewley instead ( pretty good but not as consistent around Redcar), but fat chance, Ged was missing nothing.
  16. I am sure Ged will come up with some quality guests.
  17. I don't know where this myth, about Ryan Douglas, not being able to get to grips with Redcar, comes from. I have seen him show some great rides, around the MPA. The fact is (and Boothers may bare me out here), Ryan has never participated in a meeting there, either for Scunthorpe or as a guest and not won a race in that meeting. He has been there at least half a dozen times, does that sound like someone who cant ride the track. He has had a couple of decent scores, but in some matches he has been very unlucky, with mechanical issues, or he has had a fall when handily placed. Ryan is a rider for me who blows hot and cold and goes through phases, but when he is hot, he is very watchable. As for MPT, he is pretty quick around Redcar, he just doesn't gate well enough to be in contention, in most races.
  18. Spot on post. I was a doubter, but he has won me over. He is box office.
  19. I don't think I am biased, I had a perfectly good view of those incidents. If I was biased I would have complained about the Charles Wright incident. I didn't, it was in the context of all the other decisions, tough calls.
  20. Sorry HT, I normally agree with most things that you say, but the Barker / Auty incident, happened right in front of me and Auty piled into Barker who was in front and on the outside line, ref right decision. Charles Wright exclusion, he went deep into the corner from gate1. to block the outside run. He gave Tero some room but not much, but Tero kept coming and he lost it on the outside, there was no contact, I was perfectly placed to see that aswell. Wright excluded, harsh but the right decision from the ref. The Wilko exclusion, virtually two bends completed, hardly first bend bunching. Robbo out in front got to the outside, but Wilko trying the outside run had plenty of time to see what was evolving and make a cut to the inside. He didn't, he kept it on, there was no contact, but on the grippy outside he came down. My view was clear, its harsh but the ref made the right decision, to award a rerun with all four would have been a fudge. Lewis Kerr's exclusion, I could see from my position on turn 1 that he clearly jumped the start. I don't know about the second start, it was not as obvious as the previous one, but the ref thought he jumped. Reading Godfrey's comments I don't know where he is coming from. The Redcar management knew from the start how that track was going to play out. Speedway is a cut and thrust business and Redcar fought for every inch on that track, There were some tough decisions to be made by the referee, but I am sure he came to the right conclusion every time.
  21. You must have been at a different match to me then. The fast line was definitely around the outside and the problem was not enough shale was dragged to the inside. Have to say it was not for the want of trying on the part of the track staff. There simply wasn't an alternative line, which made Sam Masters move even more applaudable.
