Chessell could not race in Ht 15 as he was not in top 3 Rye scorers or a heat leader. Must admit, we all commented on the track before the meeting. Looked like Elmside had a few lorry loads of shale and decided to dump them on the outside of the bends )) Made for interesting racing and a lot of falls for the less experienced riders. We noticed Luke Chessell trying wide lines and being very fast but getting caught out a couple of times. Brendon Johnson not a rider I would have chosen to replace Luke Priest but rode very well last night, well done to him. Alfie Bowtells win in heat 8 was the slowest heat win time I can remember at over 65 seconds, shows how difficult track was for lesser experienced riders. Interesting close meeting, but points dropped by Rye which could have been avoided.

Copied from Dan Greenwoods website. Dan's 'STORMing' start to the season has moved on from the National and Premier League guest booking stage. Tonight he will line-up for Coventry Bees in their Elite League match at Wolverhamptonas a guest replacement for James Sarjeant, who was injured in a crash at Glasgow on Sunday. Then, on Thursday, he makes his Premier League debut for the Rye House Rockets at Redcar after agreeing to sign for the Hoddesdon-based outfit yesterday as a replacement for Luke Bowen, who earlier this month announced his decision to take time away from the sport, leaving the Rockets management team having to use a twenty-eight day emergency guest facility that is shortly due to expire. Obviously thrilled and excited by this new challenge, Dan would like to thank promoters Len Silver and Warren Scott and Team Manager John Sampford for this opportunity, and he is very much looking forward to being a part of the Restart Rockets. The Rye House Rockets team declaration with averages effective from 1st May, subject to BSPA approval, will be; 1.Edward Kennett (8.71), 2.Nikolaj Busk-Jacobsen (7.00), 3.Anders Mellgren (6.25), 4.Robin Aspegren (5.84), 5.Steve Boxall (6.35), 6.Kasper Lykke Nielsen (5.19), 7.Dan Greenwood (3.00*) - Total=41.31 Hope he does well. The point that puzzles me slightly is that if the management had re-declared prior to the new averages coming into force, they would of had over four points to replace Luke with. But leaving it till now means the only option is a 3 point rider ??? Maybe first choice did not become available, or they were just dithering, knowing the Rye House management we will never know

Kasper practised on bike in Denmark yesterday, but knee not quite ready yet. Was trying to ride tomorrow at Peterborough, but now targets Redcar on Thursday. Steve was hoping to be back this week but hopefully will be back tomorrow at Pboro. Just looking to get a decent replacement for Luke. I think the calls for panic measures and redeclaration (no idea who was going to replace people ??) were a little previous. Get the existing riders fit, a good replacement for Luke and hopefully win a few matches to 'Restart'* the Rockets season, * did you see what I did there, I should have been in advertising, lol (Nurse, nurse bring me my pills)

Chris If your going to the 'Golf', maybe have a go at the 32oz Big Lad Burger. Sounds right up your street. lol and if you are in a drunken, burger fuelled state, you may not worry so much IF we are losing ))

Mark Owen is looking good this year. Maybe a bit early for Bradley Wilson-Dean Dan Greenwood is doing okay Heard a little rumour that Ollie Greenwood may become available soon, would be my favoured option if comes about.

'Len' 'Yes John' 'Greenwood ?? I've heard that name before' 'Close enough, stick him in the team for Friday' Another tough decision made, now lets go down the Pub.

Luke Bowen Takes A Break From Speedway
bolly replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
One of the good guys in the sport, many thanks for all efforts over years. Who to replace him ? Bradley Wilson-Dean Dan Halsey Mark Owen Just guessing ??? -
I'm sure if you work hard at it, you can get your title back

Chris, I for one thought that you would be over the moon this year. In the way that Len has negotiated an organised and hopefully sucessful withdrawal from the day to day management and promotion of the Rye House Rockets. The bonus of having Andrew Silver being brought into the fold to manage the Raiders can only be a plus to the organisation. Redevelopment of the stadium, a motorsport involved successor, a good looking team, who at present have beaten all opposition put in front of them, the resurgence of the Raiders, a new young star rider, who will become a Rye asset in the near future.... and all you can see is that Ed may be unavailable for a couple of meetings during the season. Chill out man, life as a Rye House fan is good at present. Please do not bring your personal grudges, with a guy who has overall been a massive positive for the sport at Rye House to this forum. Join the happy crowd, home and away. Cheer the team, support the sport and pray for a winning and safe season for the riders and management of Rye House Restart Rockets and Raiders.

Peterborough V Rye House Plc Friday 27th March
bolly replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Good thinking Chris. Maybe you should have words with Len tonight and say, Kaspers too good for here, lets get Ben Morley, Simon Lambert, or one of the many other reserves back. Never happier than when your moaning -
Trying to make it to this one. As has already been said, Mellgen and the reserves hold the key to this one. If Anders and Luke can get bikes dialled in, Kasper puts on his best gating head, we can keep this relatively close. Hoping for a similar result to Saturday just reversed. Go Rockets

New sponsors, new kevlars, new positive attitude around Rye House at Raiders P&P day today. Sorry, should say Rye House BMR Restart Raiders.
-
The track is ready and looking good according to Len, floodlights may be a bit more problematical as when I last saw, the floodlight poles from bends 3 and 4 were still laying on the ground. Looking forward to good weather and a good meeting with Rye coming out with a 6 to 8 point win GO BMR Rockets Draught beer and good fish would be a welcome bonus.

What Are You Looking Forward To This Season?

I think you can become a full member this year after a successful rookie season, lol Keep bringing those jugs of cider and you will soon be on the committee. What will junior be drinking ? Milk Stout maybe ?? I must admit though I am bit worried after Len's comments whether building site regs will be in place for the first few meetings, Hard hats, Hi-vis and full PPE. Its difficult to drink, smoke and fill in your programme with safety gloves on ))) -
Kyle Hughes very good rider at this level. But form can be very up and down, depending on his mood. Hope Andrew can keep him committed to the Raiders all season.

Looking at the general fun and games going on with visa's and who has priority in D/U rider clashes etc. I think Rye House is becoming stronger candidates to get into the play-offs with: Glasgow Edinburgh Peterborough Somerset Ipswich ?? and Rye House A lot depends on how Jakobsen settles in and rides.
-
Announced today Chessell and Preist, Tomorrow, Bowen, Harris, Crang and Ruddick ???? It will help the more mature fans remember what name to shout ))) Struggling now ?? Kasper ????? Neilson maybe ? ????? Dryml
-
Went down to Rye today to be nosey. Lots of work carried out on seating area turns 3 and 4. Old seating removed, ground built up and reprofiled so that when seating replaced ?? You will be able to see over airfence. A number of other contractors vehicles but I could not work out exactly what else was being done from standing next to entrance gates. Interesting times !!!
-
WTF happened then ?? We all wondered about his commitment last year, but as he signed again I thought it was all sorted ?
-
Latest press release from Rye House states that Len has given up his right to be a Tier Two sponsor, therefore no non-EU riders in the Rockets team while he is in charge. I wonder if any other of the 'old school' promoters will also feel that it is too much grief for what he says is a special case ??
-
Christian Henry ???
-
If todays visa rumours are true then it looks like; Peterborough Rye House All the others seem to have gaps in their teams lol...
-
Looks like your correct Tocha, he is listed as riding for Vastervik in the Alvensken on Thursdays and guesting for Dackarna in the Elitseren on Tuesdays. Could be some Thursday clashes ???
-
In press release Len says Robin rides on Tuesday in Sweden, so should not interfere with too many PL meetings ??
