Is Scotty Really Good Enough For The Sgp
screm replied to geeze's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agree with you, wheres Subedei when you want him.All the fuss about not riding over here to improve his GP chances seem to have gone up in smoke. -
Me to,thought we had seen the last of Millard with him been given the boot off the EL.He really is shocking but obviously Sky havent got anyone else,I know one or two on here have emailed Sky with complaints but so far they havent worked but we live in hope.

Millardisms

My favourite from last night, some say better late then never some others say better never late. What in fcuks name is this baffoon on. -
No need for an apology,I wouldnt post something on here if I didnt know it to be true or hadnt heard it said at the track either by Dennis Mac or Dick Barrie especially where injuries are concerned.Maybe Dick was using a little bit of enhancement of the truth but I know what I heard. Hope Grant snr is out of hospital asap and on the mend.

Decent meeting, not a big fan of individual meetings but at £10 it was good value.Never saw young Hawkins as a prospective winner giving his score in the qualifiers but rode well in semi-final one to make the final where he made the gate and that was that.Wright look a stick on winner going through untroubled in the qualifiers,Parker,Franc and Makovsky looked good to but all of them had to give best to Hawkins. The older riders looked good to,Moggo looked as he had never been away along with Bentley. This part of the meeting however was marred by a crash involving Meldrum,Grant snr and Hogg, the result of which left Grant with a broken collar bone but Grant being Grant didnt bother with ambulances or first aid, intead he said he would head off to the after meeting party before seeking a hospital.

Might have had some kind of digestive problem, seems he couldnt stomach riding infront of his former fans. -
Scott Nicholls sole reason to miss EL speedway this year is to do better in the GPs,I feel this is mis-guided and Scott will come to realise this.He wont be World Champ, not this year or any other. Much the same with Harris who is very lucky still to be in,one good night at Cardiff seems to have paved the way for more of the same non-achievements as last year.Harris should have been giving the boot for this year.

So given home track advantage the best we can hope for is fighting for third. Not much of a boast is it. -
Speedway World Cup

You reckon they will get that far,the fast wide open spaces of the Showground wont hold any fears for the Germans if they qualify. Another brilliant decision. -
Recall him riding for Berwick during the Berrington Lough era.Rode at reserve and had a knack of winning Hts 2 & 8 every week, those reces became known as Pops pension.

If you look in this weeks Speedway Star CVS that if the top GP guys dont want to race here them so be it,also Pete Toogood is talking of making big decisions for next season. If that means that EL clubs will run on a more constant night e.g Coventry on a friday or Eastbourne on a saturday as they would like to then no GP rider can make themselves available for that.

Should only be as one Harris scarcely deserves another go,interesting to see if he takes up this offer although one would presume that he has been sounded out but with the no GP rider rule in this country it will be interesting to see if Harris makes another failed attempt to ride in the GPs.Would he not be better becoming our no1 first then look to the GPs.

QUOTE (sean b @ Nov 7 2008, 01:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> why is nicholls still in it hes never done anything good in gps, harris deserves another chance but this should be his last chance Why does Harris deserve another chance, yes he has won 1 more GP than Nicholls but that has proved to be very much a flash in the pan.He performances this year have been patchy to say the least. At least Nicholls was in with a chance right up to the lasp GP so there is an arguement for his inclusion.Might be wrong but wasnt Harris a GP pick this season,Nicholls on the other hand got in on merit so he deserves a GP pick.

Remember Blixt riding for Berwick in our one and only season in the EL.Looked a good rider untill a bad accident in a Gold Cup match at Oxford. He broke both wrists that needed surgery.

Nicki Pedersen is a winner and there isnt a team in any country that wouldnt like him in their 1-7. He is a worthy world champ.
