  1. In the local paper yesterday it says the field for Makovskys meeting is almost complete. Makovsky Harris Woffinden Barker Rymel Franc Doolan Ashworth Piszcz Topinka Complin Clews Wilkinson Grieves Fisher is in the field but as posted earlier he may not be there due to a meeting in Poland,it also says that subject to confirmation there will be one more GP rider.
  2. I hope you will come along and enjoy the night, there will be plenty of other riders to watch including one or two from Edinburgh.
  3. But the "one long retired legend pootling round by himself" is only part of the meeting,Im sure the rest of the meeting will be the main reason why people will go but seeing Ermolenko back on a bike will be an added attraction. Our track last season was indeed "super smooth" and on the odd occasion super slick but it also true to say that there were times last season where we would have never got racing in the past due to the weather but because of the way our track is prepared we got racing.Id be interested to know how many times you were at Berwick last season to have your opinion.
  4. The Stancl meeting is a farewell and not a testimonial,he only spent 2 years with the Diamonds,2000 and 2008.
  5. So what price do you put on your life then,as these lads put their neck on the line every time they go to the tapes.
  6. By the looks of things it was off for some reason, the next round is on the 9th of January with the next round on the 12th.
  7. Think you are being a tad hard,on the face of it Harris is lucky to get a pick,I agree, but he is a GP winner and arguably the best of British.Best of a bad bunch you could say,Richardson hardly set the World alight in his last GP attempt and was nowhere near automatic qualification. You could argue niether was Woffinden but he did well in the under-21 Champs and in Poland and Sweden.
  8. Wouldnt disagree but Ive got to admit Im surprised Harris is one of the lucky four.He hasnt excatly been a regular visitor to either semi- finals or finals in the GPs but he has got lucky so lets hope he makes the most of it.I thought they might have looked at a Zagar or Pavlic, delighted for Woffinden and the other two were no-brainers.
  9. Interesting bit in the translation, talking of the scarf throwing incident it says "austrailian speedway riders dont know the fundamental principles of fair play".
  10. I thought so but if he was to race over here in the PL wouldnt he come in on an 8pt average making him a big gamble, but you are right he was good.
  11. A decent meeting round off the 2009 season and the promotion was rewarded with a good sized crowd, difficult to say how many but there was plenty in the main stand so the decision to hold the gate prices at regular rates paid off. Thats the 1st meeting Ive seen using the handicap system and it seemed to work well with plenty of passing,it did throw up one or two anomalies, the race where Harris broke the track record he was the only rider to start at the tapes but in general it was a good system that had riders still in with a chance right till late in the meeting. I thought Chris Kerr caught the eye,he has been doing well of late and probably wants the season to continue.Stan Burza made some good passes round the outside and as Bairns Bandit says I think he will not be back next season giving his lap of honour at the end of the meeting.Good to see Schramm and Sike get up from a very nasty looking crash in Ht15,both riders appeared un-injured however both bikes, particularly Schramms, looked a complete right off.Lee Complin again showed his liking for Shielfield and if Stoke dont want him back he will be made more than welcome here at Berwick, from where I sit he was a little unlucky to be excluded in Ht14 as on another night it might have been Makovsky who could have gone. What did everyone think of the American Kenny Inglis,I thought he did well one his 1st visit and Im sure he will remember his Ht11 win over Harris,Schramm and Rempala. Finally, well done to Chris Harris on winning the meeting but also taking apart our track record. His ride in Ht13 was great to watch and you could tell it was quick,I think that record could stand for quite a while.
  12. im at belford and the bloody suns shineing here now Shhhhhhhhhhhhh no weather up-dates. Pssssssssssssst same in Berwick. Never seen a meeting run with this handicap format so thats why its difficult to predict a winner.Looks like you need to be good from the gate but also good at overtaking so yes,Harris,Barker,Complin must stand a chance but what about a home win. I give you Paul Clews.
  13. Best part of the day. Do we know the rider who will take Woffindens place, maybe either Sike or Blair have been promoted to the meeting proper. With the way this meeting is run picking a winner aint easy.Im going for Ben Barker.
  14. Looking brighter now, still cloudy and windy but there is brighter skies coming over the Cheviots which is where our weather is coming from.
  15. Not heavy rain, just a mucky day.Its windy so that will help blow the rain over,it was forecast and its meant to get better as the day goes by.
  16. Nice thought but it looks like the Rye v Workington match is going ahead,at a guess it might be that they look at one of the Newcastle riders.Jason King maybe. Weather remains the same, dull, overcast but as yet no rain.
  17. Nothing on the Berwick site as yet but giving that Woffinden only pulled out to its not giving alot of time for the promotion much time to get a replacement.
  18. The weather in Berwick this morning is grey and damp from a little bit of overnight rain, its not raining right now so lets hope it stays that way.
  19. Forecast for tomorrow,it will be dry in the morning with rain coming in around lunchtime. That rain is forecast to stay for most of the afternoon before turning to showers late afternoon-early evening. The wind will be SW or Westerly so hopefully that will blow the rain/showers through and out to sea. Dont see the rain being to much of a problem,I remember a while ago when everything was flooded but the speedway ran the meeting with Somerset, infact they needed to water the track thanks to the way it had been prepared earlier in the week. Jeremiah Thelaus is taking part in the meeting at Scunthorpe tonight so it will be interesting to see how he gets on in these two meetings. Tai Woffinden was also due to take part in this meeting but has had to pull out through illness, hope he feels better tomorrow.
  20. He has been part of the recent USA Dream Team, good to see new riders and you never know,if he does well he might be in with a shout of a team place next season.
  21. If we have no more pull outs then we are in for a good meeting come saturday, hopefully Tai Woffinden will get over his illness and make our meeting.
  22. According to the Wolverhampton site Tai Woffinden has returned from a trip to Poland with suspected Swine Flu,he has been put into isolation with no contact of teamates or family. Hope he is better soon and able to make our meeting on saturday.
