Sign your top two,Ashworth & Alden would be my choices. Then sign your best two reserves,Id like to get one of those reserves to be Bellego, but it looks like his average will be just to high,so Id go for Dyer & Barrett, after that its calculaters out time. I get the point your making, and as I said myself the good thing on signing Albin is that he will become an asset. My point on his signing as to much of a gamble is this,a good number of people have walked away from Berwick Speedway dont go anymore, granted for a variety of reasons,if they return next March and Berwick start getting beat at home by carrying Albin, dont you really see them sticking around,I dont.We have tried the carrying rider way and Im afraid it doesnt work the majority of the time. I agree with you on this "riders on a false average",a riders average is just that, and if we are looking at Wilkinson & Schramm, then we really are in trouble.

And what a couple of crackers they were,if you look back at my posts when King signed I thought it was a wrong move, and the less said about Jacobsen the better.

What a mess.

Both of whom have struggled,Mudgway not in this years team dropped by Glasgow,to be picked up by Redcar weeks later, and Sike has hardly been seen anywhere near a speedway track. Its a gamble alright, and that IMO should be reason enough to steer clear of this signing. The plus side of course is that it adds to our asset base, but other than that Albins signing makes no sense.Dick Barrie of course will witter on about giving him a chance, but I dont think the time is right to be taking gambles.
-
Agreed but Albins average isnt going to change for next season,I didnt see enough when he was here to suggest he will do anything but struggle, should he be given a tea spot next year.
-
We really need to have a re-think as far as Albin is concerned IMO.
-
Looking at Micheal Max on saturday, our offer has been accepted.
-
The Albin signing was a good idea at the time, any chance to increase your asset base is normally a good chance, but things have changed. We have brought in Barrett & Dyer, both of whom need to be considered before Albin, like I said earlier there are better alternatives than Albin,to sign Albin after the season we have had would be a massive mistake IMO,but if Barrie`s said he`s signed then that might be that.
-
No Mr Barrie is a nonentity to me,anyway he seems to be out new talent scout,God help us.
-
Ah the old conspiracy theory, rain, sun, under strength team,or something else.Maybe the Glasgow riders are all keen golfers and they wanted home in tie to watch the Ryder Cup. Get in the hole.
-
Im sure any new owner or potential new owner wouldnt have their decision swayed by how many turn up to next saturdays talk-in,but it doesnt hurt to have a full turnout.

Many deep questions for a sunday evening there. Theres one overhead thats a real bugbear of mine but maybe this isnt the right time nor the place to air those views......just yet.

If at all possible Id like Berwick to remain PL,though if it were a choice between NL speedway and no speedway, thens theres no choice really is there.I hope the promotion can confine this season to the history books and start afresh next March, but its easy for me to say that,Im not the one having to put my hand in my pocket to cover any losses.
-
Better than no speedway at all.
-
I think you will be right, but the shouldnt stop Machin and co at least offering some sort of terms to Ashworth, just on the principle of if you dont ask you dont get. After that of course and once his name has been circulated for a loan then you can bet there wont be just Berwick looking at a rider like Ashworth. I wouldnt be bothering with Complin either for the very reasons you give, though Id be amazed if he isnt in the team for next season, some supporters see to be blind to the fact we need to pick up points away from home. Agree with you on Albin, theres only our centre green presenter come talent spotter keen on the idea, there are better alternatives.

A generally poor and lacklustre meeting last night, sadly any chance of it being a decent meeting ended when Bager and Grajczonek crashed in the first turn of Ht3,both having to withdraw from the meeting.Hopefully both with be back asap but it looks like both have suffered broken bones which will almost certainly end their season. Alden cruised to a fine maximum.and but for a break down in his first ride Dyer may have joined him.For Glasgow, only Sam Masters gave any real resistance though Jade Mudgway have a couple of decent races but all in all not a meeting that will live long in the memory, maybe these end of seasons trophies are such a good idea after all. Crowd last night was no more than reasonable but it seems that even with the reduced admittance money there still isnt enough supporters coming through the gates to make Berwick Speedway viable.
-
And he`s done that,Ashworth has been excellent this year and has given Berwick a genuine no1,Im sure Sheffield will offer a team place to Ashworth, they`d be crazy not to,but Im hoping Ashworth will return to Berwick next year.
-
Aldens job in the team is to back up Ashworth as our no1,IMO he has done just that, its true he is a bit of a gate and go merchant but his average has stayed at a reasobable level and Id be hoping he will be one of the first names on our team sheet for next year, dont see the point in looking at another rider, especially when you consider handing out loan fees.
-
Fishers had a go at most riders though has he not. Alden for me,though missing Berwick meetings is a draw back, but he is our rider and does a reasonable job in backing up a no1.
-
Forecast is good for overnight tonight and tomorrow, saturday will be dry and reasonably sunny, tempratures wont be anything to write home about but after the heavy rain, high winds of monday any glimpse of the sun will be welcome. Big few meetings for Nicki Barrett IMO,he has shown in his time with us that he can score some good points and should come under consideration for a team place next year,at reserve he should be a trump card especially with extra rides on offer.

Harris Threatens To Quit Team Gb
screm replied to JT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The simple answer is no. Harris says he fancies only doing league racing, plus the GP qualifiers,he did those this season and was eliminated,I see no difference in next years qualification system. -
Its not going to happen so its not worth arguing.
