Give the riders a good track, have lots of passing and overtaking, and by word of mouth the crowds will come back IMO.Part of the reason some supporters stopped going during 2012 was they were seeing a decent enough meeting for their money. Presentation is important, but surely we dont go to see the presenter, even if that presenter is Dick Barrie.
-
Whilst I understand that the meeting presentation is important, and in Berwicks case it does need up-dating,IMO what happens during the 15 heats is the most important thing by far on a saturday evening, and that comes down to track prep.I want to come out of Shielfield most saturdays and cant wait to go back having watched a cracking meeting, this season that happened only on a few occasions. If that means I have to put up with not such good presentation then so be it,Id even put up with our centre green presenter wittering on and on and and.........
-
I work with quite a few Poles,so I will see what I can do. I take it there will be rehersals.
-
Aspegren will be back at Berwick, and almost certainly Bellego to.
-
No doubting Mr Barries`s knowledge of speedway, but hearing the same things week in week out does start to great after a while. One thing he could do is when theres a break in racing, waiting for a County Ambulance for example,he could interview a rider or two, instead of wittering on about texting some Bandit line etc.
-
As Ive posted previously, the centre green presenter,be it at Berwick,Coventry,Kings Lynn,or anywherelse for that matter cannott be the main reason why people go to speedway at those tracks.
-
Life must be getting a bit cold in your greenhouse this time of year.
-
You can bet that if Roynon doesnt find his way into the Comets team, there will be no shortage of takers for his services. He proved himself as a top PL rider in 2012.
-
Good news,I hope the Edinburgh Monarchs have a great 2013 season.
-
Yes I agree, but Barrie should only be a bit part of a saturday nights entertainment,it has to be what happens on the track in the 15 heats of racing that will bring people back time after time. To be fair the Dennis McCleary, who does the race announcements, what else can he do,IMO Dennis does an admiral job both behind and infront of the microphone on a saturday night and of course during the week as a promoter. As Ive just posted the entertainment on a saturday night has to be in the 15Hts on the track,Ive never once went home and enthused how great the announcements were tonight.
-
Nothing wrong with the track shape for me,and the banking on the 3rd & 4th turn should lend itself to over taking, but for me its how the track is prepared,as you say there is virtually one line which does nothing for overtaking. As we have seen in previous years if the track is prepared well we can have some great racing.
-
Im no fan of Barrie, but I have to say his column in the programme is at times decent reading. So far we have had some decent ideas to attract people to the speedway, the trick of course and the thing thats harder to do is get those supporters back week after week so they become regular attenders.

You think,if you mean by student someone who is taking further education, then I dont think there will be that many in the Berwick area as theres only an opportunity for any kind of further education at the Berwick Academy, and its not as if students are renting property in Berwick and then commuting to the universities in Edinburgh or Newcastle.
-
No freaking out here, though you can be sure those posts will follow.
-
They are about and around the same age as most promoters and younger than most, while its perfectly true to say that Ryan Anderson is a club promoter I was unaware that Mr Hepburn was now on the promotion to,maybe cresent girl is making a club announcement on here.
-
As a reserve Wilkinson could be a potent weapon, but in the main team he will be no more than dependable, the rider has reached his level IMO.
-
No need to say sorry, its only the loony crew that decide to make something out of nothing.
-
Any time its no bother.
-
From my programme Ive got. Ht3 Bjerre,Eklof,Aspegren,Barrett 66.5 Ht5 Nieminen,Aspegren,Barrett,Makinen(f-exc) awarded
-
Seems a genuine enough to ask for me,Gary is always being asked on Twitter how he is getting on,his response is usually "getting there" or "slowly",by the looks of things Gary is unsure himself as what to do in the future as far as taking up racing again,I think right now all he is concentrationg on is making a full recovery.
-
Given that Bellego should become an asset, going on cost aloan, should get him into the team.Nothing against Kozza Smith though but he comes with a loan fee,as does Aspegren of course. The two Id drop from the team I posted is Albin and Edberg,Albin because I dont think he will attain anything like a 5pt average and we cant afford to be throwing away points, and Edberg because IMO we will run for a good few meetings with r/r or worse still going with NL guests to him if he`s still at reserve.
-
Not the team Id choose but my guess for next years team is this. 1 Ricky Ashworth 2 Facundo Albin 3 Robin Aspegren 4 David Bellego 5 Seb Alden 6 Nicki Barrett 7 Alex Edberg
-
Where on earth have you been.
-
Fair enough but those who cant get to Somerset or anywherelse for that matter might not have much choice if they want to see abit of speedway. Now that the buy-out has fallen through I think it wouldnt be the worst thing if Mr Bowden tried abit of fence building with his fan base,or customers if you want to put it another way.
-
Sheffield would be crazy not to at least put an offer to Ashworth, with Ashworth having a high average he might not want to hang around waiting for any uncertainty over a return to Berwick. All things considered though, should Berwick run next year I think Ashworths name will be the first on the team sheet.
