  1. You`d think after Wards run in with the law over here he mightve matured, but it appears not. Also this might not do his chances of gaining a visa and favours.
  2. It was mentioned in last weeks Speedway Star that there would be an Edinburgh rider or two in the line up.Hopefully that will encourage one or two fans down to support them and the meeting.
  3. As its only a challenge meeting Im sure the Edinburgh promotion would be quite willing to let Tully guest, should Berwick choose Tully of course.
  4. Must admit Im struggling to understand the anomosity towards the timing of Topinka`s Testimonial,he`s only doing what the Lindgren, and the Ben Fund organisers are trying to do,ie,get as good as field as possible for their meeting. If that takes riders away from Berwick then its a blow, but that opens the door for other riders to take their place. Those who want to support the Ben Fund will be there,Im sure there will be a decent crowd for all three meetings hopefully.
  5. Credit where credits due,it took two posts to get Mr Copy & Paste going, where it normally takes only one. I like you.
  6. Agreed,I take it you dont re-read some of your own then. And anyway Im quite happy to have my comments anallysed, and poured over by you,I dont have to ride on the back of Berwick Speedway to put my comments up.
  7. I agree that his programme column is usually a good read, even if you dont always agree with what he writes. Its a question of taste and choice but I think Berwick might do well to be without him on the centre green, some of his parade presentations and comments on opposition riders were really quite emmbarrassing at times.
  8. Berwick have announced some changes, firstly it looks like they will revert to a more traditional parade with bikes on track before the racing starts, also a local DJ is joining the presentation team. The meeting programme will change size though there will be no change in price it seems. The adult admission will go up from £12 to £13.
  9. Sad to hear that Micheal has given up his presenting days,on the times Ive seen him he`s always been very imformative and never hogged the limelight.
  10. Good grief,Teal puts up a perfectly good arguement and thats the best you can do in terms of a response.
  11. Simon Stead will be a top scorer for Sheffield, and probably one of the top riders in the PL.If Sheffield are to be successful though it will be what kind of back up he gets from the other six.
  12. Oh boy are you in trouble with the Bandit thread commando`s. But you are right,we have spectacular meetings at Shielfield in the past,so its not like it cant be done.Last season our track crew were at the mercy of the weather at times,so you can forgive that, but I still maintain if the racing top notch then the crowds will come back. The promotion have taken a gamble in lowering the admission prices, hopefully that will attract a few back but if the tracks prepped well and the racing is good, theres bound to more missing fans to come back simply through word of mouth about the racing.
  13. Yeah right. While I agree that a modern presentation can add to a night at the speedway, its not the be all and end all for me,I mean Ive never walked away from Shielfield thinking wasnt Dick Barrie great tonight,or there was some great banging tunes tonight. Its all about the racing for me and that brings up the thorny subject of consistant track prep. Some see the subject as "sad" but put good riders on a good track and you invariably get a good meeting.Im even quite happy to put up with Barries witterings, and any music of choice if we get some cracking meetings, and as we have seen in the past it can be done.
  14. Mr Barrie will love reading this, his ego will be suitably massaged.
  15. Less of Dick Barrie, less laps from the tractors, push the meeting through, its not to much to ask.
  16. But does it though, advertising space is bound to cost more for the F1 coverage than any for GP speedway,so a return of only 2.2 million might not be that great, must admit though Im surprised its that high.Ive always thought Sky were reasonably happy with the viewing figures for speedway though with the money Sky are throwing at PL football it could well be that speedways days are numbered.
  17. Agree with you, though to be fair the people putting together the Topinka meeting and the Lindgren meeting will probably be going after the same riders as the Ben Fund.At the end of the day it might come down to the geography of the three meetings, though Im sure the top riders couldve made it to Berwick.
  18. You think, normally I record any GPs or SWC meetings that are held on a saturday night,so I can get to Berwick.Should the GPs be available on this site through a link from Polish tv for example then Id stay home and watch the GP,that means Berwick Speedway not getting my admission and programme money.
  19. Nothing stopping them, and your probably right,if the money was on the table they`d be here, but as far as I know the Ben Fund meeting is on a voluntary bases. Its a shame that some of the top lads wont be here but for some to suggest that those who dont appear in the Ben Fund meeting shouldnt get any benefits is ludicrous and very very silly.
  20. Oh great so your going to start picking and choosing what rider gets the Ben Fund benefits,if a rider cant make the meeting at Berwick,if he`s racing in Topinka`s meeting or Lindgrens meeting for example,or he just doesnt want to do it that should not mean that excludes him from get any help available should injury strike. Dont get me wrong Id like as many GP riders,EL riders as possible to make the Berwick meeting, but its not going to happen by the looks of things,so lets get over it.
  21. Of course its not ideal that many of the top riders,GP riders etc have chosen to do the Topinka meeting and then the Lindgren meeting, but there you have it,the decisions been made, both deserving riders but you`d think they couldve held off for a few weeks meaning that should, heaven forbid, any rider needing the Ben Fund will have that bit extra. Rubbish, any injured rider deserves all the help going.
