  1. Not defending Barker in any way but its not excatly crime of the century is it.
  2. Tonights meeting in cancelled due to the snow and possible freezing conditions this evening. sorry folks! :-( Taking from Twitter.
  3. Berwick Bandits centre-green presenter Dick Barrie is to hang up his microphone after 40 years. The veteran self-confessed ‘motormouth’ plans to gradually ease his way out of his role at Shielfield, although he still plans to follow his beloved Bandits on their exploits around the country. “The main difference will be that I don’t have to commit myself to every Saturday night if I don’t want to,” he said. “I will still come and support the guys and it will be nice to be on the other side of the fence, so to speak.” Barrie, often controversial, has a wealth of speedway knowledge, having been in the business for over 40 years, but he says the time is now right to step away, and he will gradually be easing himself out over the next few weeks, helping pave the way for his successor, local DJ Steve Hayward. “While I will always enjoy being part of our ‘presentation team’, the relentless weekly same-old, same-old grind at the end of a 240-mile round-trip was getting harder and harder and I’m really happy to know Steve will largely be able to take over the infield role,” he said. “I have been asked to help and guide him into certain aspects of the job over the next few weeks.” Never been Dick Barries biggest fan but he will be a miss on a saturday night at Berwick. Sorry about the size of the writing but you get the jist.
  4. Not so sure that it could happen every time, but this is certainly a great gesture from the Glasgow promotion.Maybe, where theres a meeting back to back as in this case,a voucher could be handed over at at the first meeting that would get reduced admission in the return meeting,Edinburgh friday Berwick saturday,Berwick saturday Newcastle sunday etc.
  5. If Bunyans missing for up to half the seasons thats far to long to run as a six man team IMO,much better to run as a seven man team where ever possible. We`ve seen other teams go with r/r for wees and it very rarely works.
  6. Great gesture from the new Glasgow promotion. Berwick Speedway Supporters’ Club has received a tremendous gesture from the new promotion at Glasgow. The Tigers’ bosses have offered to pay for the bus to Ashfield, which means supporters can now travel through to the west for free to support the Bandits on Sunday. The teams are due to meet twice this weekend - at Shielfield on Saturday and Ashfield on Sunday afternoo - in the new League Cup competition. Supporters’ Club spokesman Lisa Youngman said: “This is a tremendous gesture from the new Glasgow management and we would like to thank them very much for offering to pay for the bus. Anyone who would like to take up the offer is asked to contact Lisa on 07773759864.
  7. Cant believe some are wanting riders axed already, hopefully the injuries to Makinen & Bunyan wont be to bad. Does seem to have been a bit of a shambles though.
  8. If its the new presentation style then count me in.
  9. These early season meetings can throw up all kinds of wonky results,I think Ipswich have a good team and once things settle down they will be up with the front runners. Aljack made it to todays meeting then.
  10. Weathers been reasonably settled for the last couple of days in Berwick,we`ve had the odd snow flurry but its been mostly dry.Forecast for tomorrow is decent,it will be dry all day with some sunshine but an easterly wind will keep things cool. So all in all I think this meeting will go ahead no problem.
  11. How much was that and do you have change of a twenty.
  12. Cant gaurantee the bit about the racing but Im sure it will be slightly warmer,I mean it has to be hasnt it.
  13. If its down to reserve power then surely that to Berwicks advantage,Edberg & Barrett are capable of big scores round Shielfield while Tabaka & Helfers record round Shielfield isnt what you would call crash hot.
  14. Then take credit for doing that. Seriously though I like it.
  15. If it brings any promotion closer to its fans then it has to be a good thing,at Berwick, the promotion encourage interactment with their fans.
  16. Your correct, not sure if a TTT meeting would count as an offical fixture though so Im sure the management commitee will look at this with sympathy and grant Newcastle a facility for the time Tully is out for or should Tully`s absence be longterm then a facility to give Newcastle time to find a replacement. Tully has tweeted that he hasnt yet been fitted with a brace and will be in hospital over the Easter holiday.
  17. I like it,its looks new and modern, maybe if your having to search for your teams column your reading bits in the Speedway Star that normally you wouldnt read and that can only be a good thing surely.Ok it might take a week or two to get used to the new layout but on this occasion I think change is a good thing. Well done Speedway Star.
  18. Im sure Berwick lost Lee Complin in the first meeting of the 2010 season,in a Tyne Tweed Trophy meeting against Newcastle and got r/r for the period of his injury.
  19. Berwick will prove to be to strong for the Monarchs and will win by 10-12pts.
  20. Berwick 1 Ricky Ashworth (capt) 2 David Bellego 3 Kozza Smith 4 Matt Wethers 5 Robin Aspegren 6 Alex Edberg 7 Nicki Barrett Edinburgh 1 Craig Cook 2 Derek Sneddon (capt) 3 Theo Pijper 4 Max Fricke 5 Claus Vissing 6 Marcel Helfer 7 Josef Tabaka
  21. Giving the two clubs that Masters has signed for and the promoters involved Id be amazed if those promotions were dragging their feet with the paperwork.Masters`s signing has been known for a while.
  22. Some Comets fans,by no means all.As is always posted that every track has its mindless idiots, including Berwick.
  23. Im lucky,I work with a couple of Poles who are speedway mad,I mentioned that I fancied going to a GP,they sorted my out with flights, hotel and GP tickets. Also I going to a Polish league meeting on the day after the GP. Havent got my tickets to the house yet.
  24. This meeting has been called off due to the snow in the Armadale area.
