Berwick V Edinburgh (league Cup) 20/4/13 @ 7pm

If it is indeed true that Edberg was "scared" last night then thats very concerning for the team as it puts extra pressure on the other riders especially Barrett who is Edbergs reserve partner. It might be time for Edberg to be stood down from the untill such time he has rediscovered his form and confidence as right now his scoring is no good to man nor team. -
Lets not hear Rossiter complain about the derth in the future of British speedway talent now hes taking the jump to work for one of Team GBs compeditors.

I didnt say change the track every week, and the track has been as you suggest the same every week so far this season, and the riders have shown little signs of adapting. They were slow out of the starts last week against Redcar and were equally slow out of the starts last night against Edinburgh so thats not working either. -

Any decent track team should be able to change the track conditions, theres seven days till the next time theres speedway. One worrying note,Alex Edberg has posted on Facebook,"Was scared today sorry everyone",if that isnt being lost in translation then thats very concerning. -

To be honest if the materials not there to make things work, then even Complin would struggle to find a pass.Im sure changes will be made to the track over the next few weeks to give the riders more oppotunity for passing, thing is though anymore home defeats for Berwick and some fans might not be there to see it. -

The loss of Ashworth was always going to make the task harder but Berwicks lack of gating skills and was once again the achilies heel for the home side.Time and time again they were left at the gates and once again on a track that proved very very difficult to make any passing moves their chances of winning was gone. That said Cook and Vissing were excellent, and if theres a better No1 than Cook right now in the PL I love to see him,the guy is on fire right now.Hes back up by Vissing who if anything has made the Edinburgh team stronger after he replaced the visaless Masters.Add in the fact Edinburgh have a reserve who can be slotted into races anytime and score points and you have in ingredients of a winning team. Smith,Wethers and especially Bellego can be proud of their nights work, maybe Barrett to who at least was in amongst things in most of his races.Asprgren and Edberg had nights to forget, especially Edberg who looked woeful, slow from the gate and uninterested in racing and no matter how many racesuits he throws at the team his form and position in the team must be coming to the attention of the promotion.Edberg could be a big scorer at reserve and at Shielfield especially so whatever the issues are they need ironed out asap. The night was marred by an untidy looking crash in the 1st race of the NJL meeting, with Farbaby and McBain coming down, after extensive treatment to both riders on track the meeting was abandoned.Hopefully both riders will have escaped any serious injury and they will be up and at`em very soon. -

Obviously losing Ashworth is a blow, and a big one at that, but come on people lets not this give up.Its up to the other six to raise their game and cover for our No1,Edinburgh are a decent team but Berwick have their backs against the wall tonight, time to come out fighting. And there`ll be one extra in the crowd to. -

Im sure the riders will have given their opinions to the track team, and those changes to the track will happen over the next three or four weeks. -

You do get the feeling one will be leaving fairly soon. Re Ashworth. In tight meeting you always look to your No1 to win the crucial Ht 13 & 15,so far Ashworths scores have not been good enough for an out and out No1.That said he has had an injury in one meeting, missed a meeting and has had one or two bike troubles. In the end he will come good and be back scoring big scores both home and away, for Berwicks sake it could do with happening sooner rather than later. I do find it slightly perplexing that some are giving their backing to Ashworth, which is very admiral, but have been very quick to stick the knife into previous No1s in the Berwick team. -

On the face of it this was a far better performance from Berwick,in truth the tie was lost last saturday at Shielfield.Credit though to the Bears on their win and the best of luck to them for the rest of the competition. Questions must surely be being asked by the Berwick management as to how you can be 15pts up half way through the meeting yet go on to lose.True, the withdrawal of Kus gave a very impressive Dyer extra rides, but Berwick seem to cave in in the second half of the meeting. More "butt kicking" needed IMO. -

I truely hope not,Id be hoping that lessons were learned from last week and the track on saturday night will give the riders something they can work with. -

Its Redcars to lose now,and I cant see them doing so.From a Berwick perspective Id like to see a spirited performance at the very least, even if its in a losing effort. -

Berwick can ill afford two defeats on the spin so this is an indeed an important meeting.Edinburgh will of course prove difficult opponents but with one or two well chosing words in the riders ears from their manager I think Berwick are capable of a most welcome home win. -
