Berwick V Plymouth (22 June)
screm replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What makes it worse is that the Plymouth manager didnt put out a tactical ride in Ht6,which wouldve his 1st chance, because the Plymouth pair wouldve been out against Barker & Bellego,so it made sense to wait a race and go with Bech in Ht7. -

Overall a decent meeting with some good passing, mostly from Berwick riders, and most of them overtaking the disapointing Mark Lemon, sadly it looks like Marks better days are behind him.Barker was once again excellent, and his 3rd to 1st in Ht13 was unbelieveable, stars of the Berwick team though was Bellego and maximum man Matthew Wethers, sadly Bellego missed out on his max after coming 3rd in Ht15.Impressive performance from Aspegren,a very frustrating rider is our Robin,on his night, like tonight he looks a class act,but there have been meetings this season where Apregren looks uninterested, and quite frankly poor.So its more of the same as tonight please Robin. No one outstanding rider for Plymouth,Mikkel Bech came with a big reputation but failed to live up to that, hopefully tonight will have be a good learning curve for the Under-21 in a couple of months. What I said about Mark Lemon earlier, well you can say the same about Chris Schramm, looks like his best days are long gone. Star of the night though has to be the Plymouth team manager, who for best reason to himself put Cory Gathercole out in Ht10 as a tactical ride against Berwicks best two,Barker and Bellego and was promptly 5-1d,when any fool couldve seen that in the next race,Ht11,the Plymouth pair would be out against just one home rider,Paul Starke, who up to that point hadnt had the best of nights. -

As you posted Lawson is confirmed for Glasgow tomorrow.Barrett was taken to hospital by County Ambulance with a shoulder injury,so Id guess its very unlikely he will take his place at Ashfield, think Im right insaying that as Barrett is Berwicks higher averaged reserve we will be entitled to a guest.Kozza Smith was out on the centre green at the end of the meeting and looked quite sprightly,so hopefully he will be ok for tomorrow. -

No disparagey meant, after another away defeat last Thursday Im hoping Berwick will be determined to bounce back to winning ways, and having Ben Barker at No1 will help no end giving his performance a couple of saturdays ago.Secondly another home defeat will signal the end of any chance of a reasonable PL finish. If Im wrong, and it has been known on occasion,I`ll be delighted to come on here and sing the praises of the Plymouth team. -

A couple of light showers overnight in Berwick, right now its bright and dry, chance of a shower in the 1st half of the day but nothing to worry about.Forecast for this afternoon is much better, with sunshine. A querk in the average rule book sees Ben Barker back at Shielfield as guest, not a bad thing as he was brilliant a couple of weeks ago.Should be a comfortable home win for Berwick. Berwick 54 Plymouth 38. -
Depends if they are male jelly babies or female ones.

Im afraid the Berwick team just isnt good enough.

Not getting to the latter stages of the League Cup didnt help, nor did the fact the Redcar put us out of the KOC.But your right, the last month or so has slow slow stop slow. Berwicks search for away victories or points takes us to Redcar,we live in hope.

Its nothing new,the Berwick press releases have been embarrassing for a while. But dont worry most of us dont take seriously.Infact IMO they are aimed at a section of the support who actually believe that kind of rubbish and need to know what the clubs putting out before they have an opinion. Sad but true. -
There looks like theres going to be a 2nd rider announced over the next day or so,one on an assessed average. Horwood & Wright out,Compton & assessed rider in seems to make the Glasgow team stronger IMO. Get yourself back,we all fall out with our teams but always seem to give them that 1 last chance. So far I think Ive given Berwick about 380 last chances, but always return the next week.
-
Although he was winning races at Berwick last night,I thought he was nowhere near being a decent scorer at PL level.I think the rider himself said he would know alot better after this weekends meeting if he thought he would be ready for a racing return, and I guess he will know best.
-
He should be able to ride to that average,so potentially a decent signing.Looks like theres another signing on the way,so I wouldnt want to be the next side that takes on Glasgow at Ashfield........oh.

If Compton can re-discover the kind of form he was on at Sheffield or his 1st season with Workington, then Glasgow are quids in,though I must admit the last time I saw Compton he was a shadow of that rider. Will score more than James Wright IMO and as his replacement I guess thats a start.

Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?
screm replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Having seen Adam Roynon at Berwick last night,I say he is nowhere near ready for SWC meetings. Kings Lynn might be as far as it goes for Team GB this year, little or no chance of winning the meeting IMO 3rd place will be as good as it gets. Team GB Harris Woffinden Cook Barker Id include Nicholls instead of Barker but as we know he has no interest in racing for Team GB. -

The points Pedersen has scored in the last few GPs,riding with a broken arm,has been a miracle, give the bloke a break (no pun intended). Can we put the non-exclusion of Pedersen in his 1st ride as 1st night nerves on the part of the referee. -
Instead of who, sorry but cant see it happening.

Decent if unspectacular meeting tonight where Berwick always seemed to have the upper hand.MOTM was Tamas Sike who was excellent, very eye catching in Ht9 when he went from last to 2nd.Quite impressed with Luke Crang,I think this was the 1st time Ive seen him and I like what I saw. For Dudley, they were held together as expected by Roynon,Starke and to a lesser extent Worrall, though I was impressed by Nathan Greaves whos efforts deserved more than his 3pts. I was interested to see the return to racing of Adam Roynon,IMO he is still a fair way away from being a decent scorer at PL level, which is where he was pre-injury,obviously time on track is what he needs so I hope he finds his form very soon.
