Berwick V Scunthorpe (6 July: Pl)
screm replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thanks for highlighting this post for, though I wouldve come across on my own.I still stand by what I said last sunday, which by the way seems so long ago,I didnt enjoy last saturdays meetings, its not a crime, its not a hanging offence,I didnt enjoy the meeting. As everyone knows Im normally the epitome of positivity on these Berwick threads, just not quite so much on this occasion. -

Well if nothing else you`ve cleared up one little thing. Why do you have to be-little a perfectly reasonable post by Fromafar with a daft "could you do better" comment, its certainly the case that the track was not at its best last saturday, and gave us not the best of meetings which is sad to see as in the previous few meetings the racing had been good to watch. On these occasions there had been rain on the day of or in the previous days to the meeting, maybe we got those tracks but luck rather than by design. And as long as you pay to watch,I believe that gives you the right to an opinion, within reason of course. -

Ashworth 8-84 Bellego 5-71 Aspegren 6-64 Wethers 6-75 Smith 7-42 Starke 3-00 Barrett 4-22 Total 42-58. Averages are from the BSPA site and were effective from July 3rd,saturdays meeting will have changed those but only slightly. -

To be fair to Kennett his short career with Berwick has been very stop start as we have have had quite a few free saturdays of late, though him going off to try the GP Qualifiers didnt help. -

I found last nights meeting to long drawn out, intermitent and for the most part just plain boring, that boredom was interrupted only by a couple of thrilling rides by Kozza Smith inparticularly in Ht11 where he caught Jorgensen right on the line just as it looked Scunthorpe were on for an 8-1,Bellego to made a couple of decent passes and again was probably Berwicks best rider on the night. The flow of the meeting wasnt help either by the riders from both teams, though mainly Scunthorpe, jumping at the starts and a referee who seemed to have difficulty in finding the two minute button, many times we were sat looking at an empty track having to listen to Mr Barries witterings. Decent night for most of the home side, once again Kewis Kerr showed a liking for Shielfield,Aspegren looked good and was robbed of a race win in Ht3 after his chain gave out.Kennetts last meeting was nothing to right home about, its up for arguement whether or not his signing has been a success on or off track,Im sure hes done his best though for me Im quite happy to see Ashworth back. Josh Auty was Scunthorpes best rider but sadly for him there was no back up for him,Toft deserved more for his efforts though those efforts werent helped after he was knock off by his teamate Ashley Birks who clearly has read the team riding manual.David Howe looked good in his first ride, but tailed off after that, though crashing in his third ride didnt help. Thered seemed a bit of a problem with the track last night on the exit of turn two, with riders hitting grip and lifting,it claimed David Howe and it caused Lewis Blackbird to lift a collect Berwicks guest Kerr, all thankfully all ok but its something that needs addressed, which Im sure it will be. -

So rumours of Kennetts demise has been a little wide of the mark, either that or someone at Berwick Speedway has healing hands. -

If it is true that Kennett misses tonight due to illness then let us all hope he recovers from his ailment asap,at least to take his place in the SWC next week. Of course some may look at this as a tad suspicious, here we have Ricky Ashworth on the brink, the cusp the edge of hopefully making a track return, only to find Kennett layed low with illness, though giving his performance the other night at Birmingham something does seem to be up with our No1.Im sure in the next hour or two the club will clear up matters for us all. -
Just what we needed, another Ipswich thread.

Berwick have built up a bit of positivity over the last couple of weeks,a decent home win over Plymouth followed by an away at Glasgow, thing slightly went off the rails at Plymouth last Friday though.Berwick need to hit Scunthorpe from the get go,Kennett needs to lead from the front and be backed up by Smith,Apegren etc.If that happens then its a home win,but lacking that fire in the belly could cost Berwick dear, thats why Im sure there`ll be a few well chosen words from the manager beforehand. Berwick 51 Scunthorpe 43. -

As long as theres people paying their £13s,then the riders had better find this fixture meaningful, which Im sure they will. Weather set fair for the weekend, lots of sunshine and warm tempratures. -

Absolutely,Kerr was excellent for Newcastle and was a big reason why they won on the night,I expect him to do at least as well and probably better than Barrett. -
Hancock And Gollob When Will They Retire ?
screm replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As long as Hancock is still compeditive at GP level, and he he is,then why give up.He should still qualify in the top eight for next year and has shown he`s capable of getting into Finals. As for Gollob,he`s still capable of a great ride, but unlike Hancock I think he`s lost his consistant level of performance.Seems to be spending quite a bit of free time doing Moto-X,I wonder if something like the Paris-Dakar rally would interest him. -

screm replied to Northern Exile's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If your looking for Team GB to win any kind of medal then we will all just have to hope we can put Woffinden out in every race, hes our only genuine World class rider. As I posted earlier you couldve gone with Worrall,Kennett or Barker and will probably get the same king of score from each. -

I`ll listen to your Barker or Worrall arguement, but Bridger,I mean come on. -

IMO Middleditch has got the right team,Woffinden was a cert, and sadly Harris is about the best of the rest.Delighted to see Cook in the team, his scoring at both EL and PL level this season have been excellent. You couldve put virtually any other rider in as 4th choice,I wouldve gone with Barker simply because of the form he is on just now but Kennett it is. -
If or when Ashworth is fit enough to resume racing then it will be for Berwick.

screm replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Decent GP last night, good to see Gollob back to some kind of form, best rider won on the night though I feel for Zagar who couldve top the score charts had it not been for a shocking referee decision in his 1st ride. Hopefully Jonsson & Lindgrens injuries wont be as bad as first feared. -
