I will get a letter for my mother excusing me from this week and next.
-
The sport wont go back so it might be a case of evolution rather than revolution, though your probably right about the tracks, most of the tracks are still of similar shape and size that they were in the sixties and seventies when they were built, but the bikes they use now are hardly recognisable to the one they used back in the day.
-
Nothing better than actually being at the meeting, sadly due to work I`m missing in action this week and next, hope everyone can cope. Looks like the weather wont affect this meeting, we had a fair bit of rain over night but things are drying up nicely. Up till now we haven't used the installation of our fence as an excuse for a shoddy performance, so thanks for that, we can open a new page in the Hong Kong book of excuses.
-
To the best of my knowledge no track has changed to any significant degree since we have had air fences, that includes Berwick.
-
Friday`s been nothing to write home about weatherwise, coastal mist, drizzle and not very nice. There is rain forecast for most of tonight and into the early hours of the morning, Saturday will be a mostly dry during morning and afternoon but there will be rain pushing in from the south west, with a bit of luck that wont arrive in Berwick until after this meeting is completed. I`m sure those fans who can help the riders individually will do so, and I`m sure they are grateful for it, the rest of us help the riders in a very real way by attending as many meetings as possible.
-
Fair enough, therefore it might be a case if the promotion don't believe there will be any significant improvement after the new CMA`s come out that a rider or riders could be moved out to bring improvement to the team, that of course is opening a whole new can of beans. Doolans average will fall, while Bellegos and Vissing will rise, the others will stay roughly the same, might be a chance that wont come up again.
-
I`m hoping that once the new averages change, and we get riders riding in different positions, their scores will start to improve, must admit I`d like to see Bellego taken from the No2 position straight away, change in averages or not.

Nicki Pedersen Matej Zagar Troy Batchelor Freddie Lindgren Aussies to out score Poles
-
One or two on here are quick to point the finger at Kus, for apparently not doing his job. But look at his scores will tell you he is at least riding to his average, some others in the team are not, our faltering No1 for example.
-
Possibly one of the most despicable attention seeking posts there`s been on here for a while.
-
And still 2 days to go before the meeting starts, as yet we haven't had many Newcastle fans along to join the fun, they and the Scunthorpe fans seem to be still debating their "meaningless" fixture from last Sunday.

British Semi-finals

SCUNTHORPE Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said he could hold off on signing a new number one if Anders Mellgren continues to show his remarkable rate of recovery. Mellgren, who fractured his back against Redcar at the start of the month, has shown a rapid recovery and posted a picture on Twitter this week of him practicing on a bike. Godfrey believes he could only be only three or four weeks away from returning to the side but admitted he has a big decision to make whether to sign a temporary replacement or not. He said: "We will sit down and have a look at it but it is a huge gamble whichever way we go. "Sometimes you have to take a chance and if he is only three of four weeks away I would rather wait for him. "Anders is actually sitting on a bike and seems to be having no ill effects from the crash and it is unbelievable that he could be back so soon. It is looking more and more positive. "That will give a huge boost to everybody. If you look at the matches since we lost him and we haven't done well at number one. "When Anders comes back he will score points and if we had had him we would have won our matches more easily." With Mellgren missing for this weekend's trio of matches Godfrey has moved quickly to secure guests with Leigh Lanham coming in for tonights away trip to Ipswich while Somerset's Pontus Aspgren will fill in away at Rye House on Saturday. The Scorpions will continue with rider replacement at home to Plymouth on Sunday. Godfrey said: "Both Leigh and Pontus are specialists on those tracks but I think we have enough strength at home to continue with rider replacement. "Having a good reserve such as Ryan Douglas means we can carry off rider replacement at home. "If it scores eight or nine points, which is aroud what Anders would get then that is a good return so I think it is the way to go." Despite the Scorpions facing three matches in four days this weekend Godfrey believes the team will be able to cope with the tough schedule and hopes to get early points on the board as the Premier League campaign begins in earnest. Scunthorpe already boast two points from their opening Premier League fixture against Somerset and Godfrey is hoping to pick up a couple of away points before the home meeting on Sunday. He said: "It thought it would be tough having so many matches in a short space of time but we should be OK. "There are only two on the trot so we will be fine as long as there are no dramas and if there are we will have good riders on stand by. "We want to get some points on the board and the team know they can do it. "We have got two good guests and have done well at both Ipswich and Rye House in the past so I would expect points from both meetings. "Against Newcastle on Sunday we were beaten by the referee and I have told the riders just to keep riding like they are." Godfrey believes his team are improving all the time and will have to be at their best as there are still plenty of good teams to visit the Eddie Wright Raceway this season. Despite that he is mindful that the team has thrown away healthy leads in each of their home meetings this season but believes that when they switch to Friday night meetings at the start of next month the team will be able to hold their leads better with confidence in the team growing all the time. He said: "On a Friday night we can make the grip last longer but for some reason the mentality is totally different on Sunday than Friday but we expected this would happen. "Thomas Jorgensen, Josh Auty and Ashley Birks are all getting better but I think David howe is the one that has surprised us all. "However there is still a lot more to come from this team. "I still believe we are going to win the league. "In speedway it is not how you start but how you finish the season and I think we are getting stronger all the time."

Peterborough V Newcastle - Tuesday 29th April

Fantastic offer and all credit to Peterborough Speedway I hope there`s a massive crowd. -
Buxton have signed Berwick`s Stefan Farnaby for their 2014 season.

I agree, IMO riders from the NL should've been drafted into reserve positions in the PL, with young GB riders filling the reserve positions for EL clubs. But the draft system is there now so we have to make the best of it, any problems wont be solved in one season and GB speedway might not see the benefit for a while yet but I hope the BSPA stick with it.

This match was described in Post 16 as a meaningless match, nine pages later it seems it was anything but. -

You mean the Polish guy, when will people understand that any decent rider from Poland will not commit to a full season over here. -

Yes but that is Glasgow's gain, with a bit of luck they will dump him before he has enough meetings that make him one of their assets, leaving the way clear for us to nip in and sign him full time.
