31/05 Prague Speedway Gp
screm replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
To be fair to the track guys from this year, Saturday was fairly warm in Prague all day Saturday, and they were watering the track at least twice before the start, so conditions were always likely to be slick. Not sure about others years where the racing as been just as processional. -

screm replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
People of Wolverhampton I need help. I`m coming to the British Final in a couple of weeks and have booked into the Travelodge in Wolverhampton Central, I spoke to a couple in Prague at the weekend and they were saying it wasn't in the best areas of the city, also they said it was situated about 2 miles from Monmore, can anyone advise. -

As has been previously said much of the racing was from the gate, however it was quite exciting being there. Stadium is a bit tatty outside but once inside it was ok. I met one of our forum friends yesterday in one of the hotels going up to Marketa, if your reading this and it was you, nice to meet you even if it was only for a short time. -

Whisper it softly but Berwick might just be onto something with this years team, if all seven stay fit the sky`s the limit IMO. -

The Plymouth track is everything Shielfield isnt in terms of size and shape. Never the less I hope the confidence we are in at the minute will be good enough to see you to a point, and a point at Plymouth will have the rest of the PL sit up and take notice. -

Does anyone know where the signing session is going to be and at what time, I`ve looked on the Speedway GP site and cant see anything. Prague weather, cloudy but dry, forecast looks decent for today and for the next few days. -

We had rain when I arrives in Prague around 2pm, the rain has now just about stopped but it is still very dull and a bit chilly. -

You may very well be right though the question has to be ask, what in the name of all that's holy has Peter Waite got to do with Berwick Speedway these days. The answer leaves your post null & void. -
Charlie Gjedde Comeback ?
screm replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
A bargain average maybe, but would you take a chance on a rider who`s had the thick end of a year out, you`d probably take the risk on a younger rider but Gjedde`s best days are behind him. -

He is quite capable of doing that all by himself, as he showed at Berwick.- 23 replies

Then its to Berwick`s credit they will stick with a young British rider making his way in the sport.

You will receive much advice about how, where and why to enjoy your speedway. Get yourself up to Berwick and enjoy, after that anything else will be very much diminished returns. -
That's the one. That's it, his then mechanic, rider, kit, all laid out on the motorway.

Gp Qualifier Sat June 7th @ Berwick

I will give credit now. -
Decent idea, it would certainly help to stop the tactical lay downs, where a rider falls, looks up to see his teammate on the wrong end of a 5-1. Normally when that happens, and there`s a rerun you can guarantee the rider who was leading will be at the back. One problem though, if a rider was literally right on the back wheel of the rider in front, and there was a rerun, I think a 10m handicap is a bit to much of a penalty.

I may not be the most popular at Berwick, but it hasn't yet come to going in disguise. I`m sitting in the B-section in Marketa, the tickets are in the car but I will put my seat number on here tomorrow. -

Saw nothing about live streaming of this meeting, maybe it will be shown on the FIM site. I think I`m right in saying last years Under-21 Final was shown on that site though it might not have been live. -
Time will tell, but its hardly a big step forward IMO.

Gp Qualifier Sat June 7th @ Berwick
screm replied to screm's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
CHRIS Harris and Craig Cook launch their World Championship qualifying programme at Berwick on Saturday June 7. Current Grand Prix rider Harris is looking to retain his place in the series for 2014 whilst Cook, who has made great strides in recent years, wants to establish himself on the international stage. Should the duo qualify from the Shielfield Park event, they will be just one meeting away from the Grand Prix Challenge which this year takes place at Italian venue Lonigo. Berwick will also welcome Poole’s Polish duo Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Maciej Janowski , and the line-up also includes top Danes Hans Andersen and Kenneth Bjerre, whilst Czech Republic rider Matej Kus will compete on his home circuit. Josh Grajczonek makes it three Pirates riders in the field and former Rye House and Peterborough star Linus Sundstrom is also included along with Leicester No.1 Jason Doyle. Berwick have confirmed special arrangements have been put in place for the event, with turnstiles open from 5pm ahead of the start of the meeting at 7pm. There will be additional catering and sales-points installed around the stadium. It has also been confirmed that the public will be permitted access to official practice earlier in the day. Doors will be open from 11.45am until 2pm, with the riders on-track for one hour from 12.30. Berwick bosses are delighted to have stepped in to stage the event after problems with the previous venue in Austria, and they expect it to provide a major boost to the local area too. Director George Hepburn said: “Last season when we staged the World U-21 Final there were visitors here from Latvia, the Czech Republic, Denmark and, notably, Poland. “Local businesses, hotels and the like reported a really impressive boom in business over that weekend, and with eleven nations to be represented here on June 7, an even greater influx of visitors has to be expected this time around.” LINE-UP: 1. Chris Harris (GB), 2. Jason Doyle (Australia), 3. Mathieu Tressarrieu (France), 4. Roland Benko (Hungary), 5. Tobias Kroner (Germany), 6. Kenneth Bjerre (Denmark), 7. Josh Grajczonek (Australia), 8. Maciej Janowski (Poland), 9. Linus Sundstrom (Sweden), 10. Tomas Suchanek (Czech Republic), 11. Matej Kus (Czech Republic), 12. Hans Andersen (Denmark), 13. Daniel Garrmaier (Austria), 14. Przemyslaw Pawlicki (Poland), 15. Theo Pijper (France), 16. Craig Cook (GB). Reserves: 17. Richard Lawson (GB) 18. Lewis Bridger (GB). For the ones who are bothered, this fine piece of work was taking from the good people on the BSPA site, and a fine piece of work it is to.
