Ricky Ashworth Great News Going Home.
screm replied to stratton's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ricky still has many hurdles to get over, but getting home is a huge boost to him and his family. He will continue his rehabilitation in his own surroundings and that can only be a good thing. -
I like Kevin Long, never been to Ipswich yet but I have quite a few of the Crashes and Cock up dvds from Rerun and he is a funny guy.

The guy at Wolverhampton was excellent when I was at the British Final this year, agree with others that the guy at King Lynn is hopeless.

Seems a poster trying to collect a few cheap likes, and you have so well done for that. Victor Palovaara did nothing to inspire any Tigers fan last Saturday, its fair to say it probably wouldn't be right to make a definitive decision either way giving track conditions, but four last places, and last by a clear distance does nothing to make me think he get any where near a 7pt average, I hope the kid proves me wrong, but time will tell.

On the whole I enjoyed the meeting yesterday, couple of delays we could've done without, firstly there was a problem with the tapes then the electrics. The problem when the electrics failed after Lindgren fell could've been very messy, thankfully the other three riders missed rider and bike when they came round for the following lap. I was sitting in the main stand, I thought the presentation was decent with lots of pit interviews, as well as interviews from the centre green during the interval about the Ben Fund. On the racing itself, the two semi`s were good, with the Final being more than good with some excellent racing. I was hoping for a Scunthorpe win, but they seemed to run out of steam, Somerset were worthy winners and congratulations to them, hopefully yesterday made up for missing out on the Pairs a few weeks ago. For my own team Berwick, their fate was decided after only a few heats of their semi, with the form Matty Whethers is in just now he should never have had a ride yesterday, though losing a steel shoe didn't help, and as he proved in his one and only ride Matej Kus should've had more than one ride, maybe Berwick`s involvement in the meeting would've lasted longer.

Largely uneventful meeting on a wet track, to be honest we were lucky to get a meeting especially after the constant rain pre-meeting. The new kid at No1 for Glasgow struggled badly throughout, though it probably is a bit unfair to judge him on tonight. I was interested to see how Wolbert got on after the recent changes, his first two was garbage, but his third ride was far better, infact had his teammate not fallen I think he would have won. Still think he should be performing far better than he is. Hopefully better weather is just round the corner, starting at Peterborough tomorrow where I will be heading in the morning.

Delighted to see Ashworth finally getting home, he has come along way since his accident and I hope now he is home with his family and in his own space his recovery will continue. Forecast is rain this morning, then brighter during the middle part of the day, before the chance of more rain this evening, lets just hope we get a meeting in, the last thing from a financial or organisational point of view is another rain off and another meeting to re-schedule.

Getting anything at Ipswich was always going to be a tough ask, though I thought we might score a few more. As has already been pointed out no team will win meetings if three riders score only two between them and you have two riders scoring zero, bit of a mystery why captain Wethers was allowed all four rides. Hoping for much better tonight at Scunthorpe.

What makes it worse is that for the last two Saturday home meetings Berwick will have had to pay out on expenses as the riders have reached Shielfield and been ready to go, both times the weather has been fine right up to late afternoon before the rain came. Who would be a promoter in this instance, unless we get some leeway from the Council to run more off night meetings, we wont get our meetings done by the cut-off date, double headers would be an option but they would hit the club financially even more than rain-offs.

Berwick had Tatum, Jimmy Nilsson and Richard Knight as a top three, the rest of the team was mostly made up from the previous years PL team, Blackburn, Grant, Robson, Little etc, though Berwick did bring in the likes of Michael Blixt to bolster the team. Fancy that a speedway rider signing a good contract to earn good money. -

IMO there is only one place up for grabs, Pedersen and NKI will definitely come into the team, MJJ will to IMO but less likely. On tonight's showing I think Hans Anderson will get a place, Killdemand is to much of a gamble, and I think we saw the best of Pedersen and he cant do any better. -

Enjoyed tonight as I enjoyed last Saturdays meeting at Kings Lynn, looking forward to the Race-off on Thursday, though given the amount of practicing the Poles will be doing I wonder if they wont take part in this meeting as a guest team. -

Sadly his season was ended by a nasty crash at Oxford, which also claimed Swede Micheal Blixt as another victim, infact I think it ended Blixt`s career.
